Further silly updates in my attempt to match a super sub ohm dual exotic coil safely and easily:

View attachment 801695 So the second wick to go the 2x28ga 18 wrap @3.5mm coils was great till it burned too but this time it burned in barely a day. Whoever it was that said the coils were too long is right.

So: shorter fatter coil: I wanted to make the biggest coil I could fit so I wound the coil around the handle of a dental pick.
Pick handle micrometers for me at 5.25mm, and the exterior diameter of the finished coil was 6.15mm. It’s a big sucker. So big I could only fit one of them on the deck and used so much cotton I had to thing the tails on the single wick
It’s a pretty ugly coil and was developing some burned spots where the coil was particularly poorly done.
9 wraps of 28ga coming in at ~2.6-2.8ohm depending on whether it’s firing or not, 6.6v.

It vapes at 16w a lot like the earlier coil did at 32w.

One handy thing is the coil is so ridiculously big I can reach into the inside of it with the dental pick and adjust the cotton and wire placement to reduce hot spots.

I find that big duals on a mech are best with bakery flavors, and a higher ohm single coil on a vw is best for fruit flavors. IMO fruit flavoring is a bit more temperamental and burns up easily.

You could really taste the difference between juice in a mech vs regulated? I personally think it's a mental thing? I just find it hard to believe that if you were blindfolded and had 2 exact tanks and juice, but one on a mech and one on a reg, and you couldnt feel or hear anything, that you can honestly tell the difference? Perhaps so, but I know I couldnt...when I ran both, they both were too close for me to tell.

No, I think you misunderstood what he was trying to say. Due to you not being ready for this stuff nobody else can tell the difference in flavor. I think it's one of those "A" equals "B" and where does "C" fall type things.

Yep....I wasnt really saying I didnt believe someone could, it's just found it a little hard to believe. I also dont vape crazy coils, so my comment on me trying, was simply when I use to runs mechs and regs together with mtl rtas. I never could really tell flavor differences but obviously could tell differences in the way the coil ramped, sound, etc. Perhaps crazy coils are more separated when it comes to this, but still hard to believe really.

I don’t think your findings with comparing a mechanical device to a regulated in terms of flavour to be false. Is it a true representation of every possible combination? Absolutely not! But who has the time, resources or even the willingness to conduct such a lengthy test? Regardless, it does not justify the discrediting comments from a certain individual who thinks they are above everyone else.

That is not impossible. I was limited to one device and one test subject (myself) that had possible bias problems. I’ve got two velocity rdas, and have considered switching to those, except not only are they old and small, but they’re both missing two grub screws each. I need to get more grub screws before I can even think about that one.

To be fair, he does seem taller than the lady in back, unless he is the lady, in which case she may be severely deluded.

The attitude I took was a coil run to a given heat was a coil run to a given heat, more or less. It was an attempt at a safe model or a mech. All models are by definition wrong. I believed it to still be useful though.
