You know what really bugs me? If you say something about the Beatles... and the person you're talking to says "who?" (to which I usually respond, "No, not The Who, The Beatles!") :D

One time when my son was about 8-9 yrs old, he asks me in all seriousness, "Mom... did they have TV when you were a kid?" I wanted to slap him! I said "Yes, and on it, when *I* was 8 yrs old, I got to watch when they WENT TO THE MOON!" Little monster! :D

Andria

When I was a kid we had a black and white tv. And I can not identify most of the popular singers/groups of today. We were trying to watch the network New Year's Eve shows and we both were so turned off by the music and banter that we did not watch it at all. We switched on Animal Planet. At least we understood what we were watching. lol

I try not to say anything when I see some of the younger people walking around with their pants down below their hips and covered in tattoos. Don't they know that employers in the corporate world are looking for clean cut robots and not pierced and tattooed employees? Or maybe that has changed too. I would not go to a doctor or accountant who looked like that. Maybe that is my own personal prejudice, but I would not trust their judgment.

I used to watch the Wizard of Oz on our black and white TV every year since I was a kid. I was a teenager before I saw it in color and was stunned to discover the the Wicked Witch of the West was.................green!!!!!

My kids asked me if we had TVs when I was a kid, too. I told them of course we did. I used to sit and watch it with my pet dinosaur. :glare:

We had a B&W TV until after my mom married my stepfather, when I was 7 -- but my grandparents had one of the earliest color sets, so when it was time to go home each evening (they kept me after school until I was 11), my mom had a royal battle dragging me away from Gilligan or Batman in color. :D

Shari, I don't blame you one bit about the modern so-called music; if it's hip-hop, I'm sorry, that ain't music by any stretch of the imagination. When rap and hip-hop made it into rock music, I had to start listening to country music in self-defense -- at least it's still music! And apparently a lot of rock-oriented people felt the same way, because there's a whole lot of rock in country these days -- my parents hate it, but I'm enjoying it a lot! :thumb: We watched some TV episodes we had DVRed, because all that nonsense with drunk people screaming and balls dropping (here in Atlanta, the ball is decorated to look like a peach!) just becomes so passe after you've seen it 30 or 40 times. So it's another year -- woohoo. No need to get your drawers in a knot. :D At midnight, I went outside and watched the amateur fireworks; all my neighbors seem quite determined to outdo one another each year, so I have a front-row seat. I'm just worried about those hot cinders coming down on my roof! :D

And the only people who ought to have tattoos on the NECK are convicts. I have a tattoo myself -- a 1 inch heart on my left wrist, not a defacement of an entire body part. One thing tattoo artists don't tell you is that tattoos don't age very well; over time, the black lines get blurry; apparently the ink "bleeds" into surrounding tissue as the cells in the dermis age. Those people sporting entire sleeves are going to be wearing a blurry colorful mess in about 20 yrs -- and if they ever gain a lot of weight, no one will know what that tattoo was MEANT to be. And it probably hurts 3 times worse to have them removed than have them applied, since skin grafts are about the only sure-fire way to do it.

Thaya, what really grabbed me about Wizard of Oz wasn't so much the green witch, but those sparkly RED shoes! I've been a sucker for red shoes ever since. :D

I was amazed at the sparkly red shoes, too. The difference between the shoes and the witch was that I knew the shoes were supposed to be red. I had no idea the witch was green.

I can't stand the trend of all the hip hop music either, although there are a few that I like. I listen to mostly classic rock nowadays. What surprises me is that I now listen to a lot of music I used to think was noise when my kids were listening to it. It's the same stuff I used to yell at them to "turn that s..t down!" Maybe hip hop will grow on me when I'm in an old folks home. Rap is a whole different think. How they can call it music when all they're doing is talking crap is beyond me.

I don't have any tattoos, but one of sons has quite a few. Now that he's older he regrets them. He's automatically labeled a thug even though he's not, and applying for a job requires long sleeve shirts even in the summer.

Well, I'm pleased to say that my mothersmilk WTA got here today; it's a lot cloudier and darker than what I've gotten from Wholecig, and yeah there's a tobacco smell, but it's not unpleasant. But they also sent me a free gift, which prompts my question: what does dragonfruit taste like? They sent "Creamy Dragon," but it's 18mg, so I'm kinda wondering what other flavors would be good with it, so I can water down the nic without watering down flavor.

Thx y'all

Glad you got your order. I found their juice to be quite effective for me, but I had to give Aroma a shot before I made up my mind. I got a free gift from them too, but it wasn't dragonfruit, so I can't offer you any suggestions. I went on their website, which I figure you already have, to see if I could find a description, but I don't even see it as an offer. Sorry I'm so damned clueless. LOL

Dat's ok -- any idea what dragonfruit tastes like? I have no earthly idea. Just wondering what sort of creams or whatever would be good to mix with it. or if I nmight need some sweetener when i dilute it, or what. It smells ok, but I can't get a sense of the taste, and I'm kind of afraid to drip 18mg to taste it! :D It's about 35% stronger than I'm used to anyway, and I don't normally drip; only for tasting.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Had kind of a frustrating day today working, and went over my "daily allotment" of 5 cigs (only had one more, though, so not too bad).

On the good side, that last cig was at 5pm, and haven't had even an inkling of wanting one since then, so all is good.

Happy New Year to everyone!

if my pants are hanging low, either im wearing my old comfy lounge pants and i was not expecting visitors so deal with it, or my sweat pants that are a size to big from lost weight. either way i wasnt expected guests so its your own fault =P.

i have tattoos, but i have them where they are hidden by clothes. as long as im wearing a tshirt, you wont see mine. if i wear sleeveless you will see one. wanting atleast one more for my child that is how we draw his hearts, a heart with an H in it with stitching on each line of the H. one line with stitching for each major surgery (and the last letter of our last name...) and the heart be made of a sideways E for his first name, and the bottom of the heart be an upside down A for his middle name. still havent talked to tattoo artist to see how he would sketch it yet, but cant wait to see how he draws it.

so.. would you trust my judgment then? lol.

regarding the music choices, i dont like/care to listen to rap. i listen mostly to rock, some top 40 pop, and electronica music. and accapella music. my child likes electonica music (like THIS, Roar from Monsters University movie)

Happy New Year to you too!

It is good that the last one was at 5pm. When that happens the best thing is to not beat yourself up over it and just start vaping again. I used to tell myself that if I still wanted a cigarette after vaping for 15 minutes, I could have one. I never did have the cigarette. That 15 minutes was enough time for me to get the craving under control.

Keep up the good work!

Oh I like you just fine Top. That was not my point. What you do or wear in your own home or out shopping, etc. is not my concern or do I care. I think it is sweet about the heart for your son.

Now if you were going to be my doctor and you walked into the room full of tattoos on your face and neck and with various piercings and low hanging pants, I would request another doctor or leave and find some other facility to treat me. That is just how this old lady feels. I need to have trust for someone who is going to do surgery or prescribe medicine to me.

Yay! for you. This is a big breakthrough. Now stop paying attention to it and vape away. Just take this as your new normal until the next breakthrough comes along. Great job! So happy for you.

I'm so doggone pleased with myself today. I had been at half a pack of cigarettes a day. This time a pack has lasted me three days. I'm getting there.

its been REALLY quiet in here. making sure everyone is still breathing.

child threw girlfriends phone last week and destroyed the screen/touchscreen controller (screen was cracked before, but now the lcd is broken. if i turn it on i get pretty rainbow colors! and it no longer recognizes touch anywhere on the screen, hardware buttons work just fine.). local shop estimated ~130 to fix it with parts in the store (would be parts from a purple phone while orginal phone is black) and 120 if i brought in a phone with the parts. so... i got one off ebay for fairly cheap that they claim takes too long to start up (wondering if they tried to root and failed which i can fix, or if it is a error with the internal memory which is covered under warranty). plan to mess with it to see what i can get it to do.

tried Hold Fast Vapors - Port Royal and i like it. they describe the flavor as a cake with maple syrup, topped with candied nuts. i like it. also rebuilt the coil in my tobh to i guess you would call a nano coil? sucker is 12 wraps of 26ga dual coil coming in at 0.5 ohms. (on regulated box mod. i cant seem to enjoy mechs. i guess im spoiled..) and i couldnt figure out how to wick it and not get dry hits. decided to wrap rayon under, then over, then around the coil while leaving the center of the coil open for airflow. think im getting more vapor than before as long as i dont drip too much and it leaks out the airholes. and i think the flavor is slightly better, or my vapers tongue is going away.

Hi Top. Sorry to hear about your phone adventures. Hope you find a solution that does not send you to the poorhouse.

No real tips on the nano coil. All I remember reading about them is you wrap your cotton around and over the coil. I think there is an old thread about nano coils out there.

I am getting ready to go to the hospital for my neck surgery on Thursday. Gathering up pjs and slippers and making lists and easy stuff to eat for when I get home. Do not want to go. I want to chicken out. The weather report says we may get an icy mix overnight Wednesday so I could use that as an excuse, but I won't. Sigh.......

If it is possible I think I am vaping more this past couple of weeks. Not a thought of having a cigarette though. So I am thankful for that.

I am going to get to meet my grandbaby the middle of April. My son and wife and baby are coming here to Nashville to see us. So excited! He will be a year old on 1/13. At least I will get to meet him before he graduates high school. lol

my grandmother in florida doesnt travel much (pretty much only during the summer, if that) because cooler weather makes her breathing issues act up. if she was not a disney retiree (officialy retired christmas day.. has been unofficially retired since july ish. she banked her vacation days lol!), and my parents did not do her taxes/ grandfathers business taxes she probably would not see him in person much. so far she has seen him about once a year (didnt travel the first two years, but he has made up for it in air miles! im thinking he would be close to a free flight if he had his own rewards card..) average.

i find it kind of funny that you are worried about slippers when the hospital gives you those great socks that have rubber grips on them (the child sized ones are like sock with rubber shoe soles.. and they clack like flip flops when you walk!) that are great.

easy stuff to eat. easy to cook? easy to chew? easy on the stomach? maybe chicken noodle soup (frozen chicken breast, boil then shred it, cook macaroni in chicken stock, season and readd chicken)? mashed potatoes one day, the next day turn the left over mashed potatoes into a soup? tomato soup is fairly easy to cook from scratch (ive used both canned tomatoes, and tomato juice on different occasions depending on what i had on hand) and can add cheese to your mug and use a straw to drink.

I agree with you, those hospital socks are pretty nice. I have a pair from last surgery and do wear them sometimes. I am thinking slippers that I can slip into and out of without help. I am partial to Dearfoams. Plus, having something to worry about besides surgery is good for me.

The 'what to eat' thing is for the first few days after the surgery. How much trouble I have is partially dependent on how much moving of everything the dr has to do to go from the front of my neck to get to the back. I pretty much hit the grocery to pick up better quality frozen dinner type stuff so DH does not have to worry about what to feed me, etc. for that first week or two that I can not drive and may not feel like cooking meals. He will eat junk food 24/7 and be quite content, I will not; so I am pre-empting a 'what do I eat' crisis when I know I will be cranky and unable to drive.

DH was being a sweetheart and washed my 3 new pairs of pjs and the tops of 2 pair shrunk 2 sizes. They will now almost fit the Kitty. So I may have to go get more pjs. Grrrrrrrrr.... Figures, last minute stuff, of course. Stupid stuff.

Novel thought of the day: I may not take any vape gear with me to the hospital at all. I will only be there 1 or 2 nights. I am considering trying to see how I do without any vaping. I have not attempted to go without for the year and a half I have been vaping. Since my throat will be very sore afterwards it may be a good idea. We will see how I feel.
