Thanks, Steve, but being electrically challenged, I have one more question.

I just looked at the battery I currently have. On the side of it, it says:

"LIR123A 3.6V 1000mAh" So, with the 901 atomizer/Prodigy, do I use two of these or one of these with a spacer?????

That's what engineers are for ;) I'm amazed at how much I have learned over the past few months ... and the fact remains ... i'm still an electrical noobie! LOL

Not entirely sure on the LIR123a. Assuming its the same size as a standard RCR123, you should be fine with a spacer :)

When I get the extra money I am purchasing my 801 from you.!

Appreciate it! Thanks Mierrrs...

Hey Angela,

I did miss it! Sorry about that. Requoting it here to post on it :)

To be honest, I never have sold, and never plan on selling anything VG related. I don't have the equipment necessary to test such things. People deciding to use ejuice from any manufacturer (both PG or VG) due so at their own risk! PureSmoker and I can't be held responsible for what people put in their atomizers :) If sold by me, that's one thing ... :) If we ever decide to enter the VG realm, we will definitely perform the necessary reseach before releasing such a product.

What I can do to help further the discussion is try and test the different temperatures from atleast what we can see. Then talk to someone knowledgeable on the subject and go from there :)
Thanks for replying. The problem is that many PG-based liquids contain at least SOME glycerine, so this could be a serious concern for many (being in the UK, never tried your liquids or know your ingredients list, but do obviously know the major UK ones).

If you could confirm the temperatures, that would be a great help - THANKS!

Steve, I don't want to sound stupid but what is the difference or benefit between the 901 and 801 at 5 volts? I did order the 901 adapter..was that a mistake?

Not a stupid question by any stretch of the imagination :) The 901 and 801 actually draw quite a bit different. To new esmokers, this might be minimal, for more experienced users, they can normally tell.

Either is a fine choice. A penstyle is quite a large ecig, so using a prodigy for it, it may look more like a replacement. Using a 901 with a Prodigy is more of an added benefit. Fit the 901 atomizer to the prodigy for at home or when you need that power/battery life, and use 901 batt's when out and about.

Very Very True ... Will look in to temps, and lets everyone know :)

Crud I thought I knew what was going on, but now....

So the 18650s I ordered whenever they actually get here won't work anymore or they will work but just suck? Or if I send a request to Casey for the original V1 they will, but Steve doesn't/isn't happy with them.

I've got both 901 and 801 atoms. Do I like them on a passthrough, well yeah, but I like them just fine on a fresh battery. There will be many occasions for the foreseeable future that I will have to use regular e-cig batteries. I'm afraid of getting "hooked" on the higher voltage and regular batteries not doing it for me anymore. Plus I've got no other use for 18650s. Should I email Casey? Will the V2 of the V1 really suck so bad on the 18650s? Is there anyone there at PS not already used to the higher volts that can give an opinion? Sorry Steve, but I think you're too far gone. ;)

Steve, that was my original plan...to use and drip with the 801@6v. at home and use the 901 with the extra battery life when I was out and about.

Now, I am confused as to which way to go. Using a 901 or 801 @ 5 volts would be similar to using a USB passthrough..which is much better than the original batteries. But not having the extra battery life for the 901 when I am out and about....???

I did order the 801 with an extra adapter for the 901. Is that foolish, considering they will now both run @ 5 volts?

HAHA ... Might possibly be tooooo far gone! Key word, was *Fresh Battery* Imagine that ALL the time!!!! If you want to stick with the original design, then yes, the 18650's will work just fine :) If you decide on going with the newer version, you can still use the 18650's, they just won't be as powerful!!!! Take Steve's Hint ... Use 5v ;) LOL

You have to remember, even using 750mA and up to 1000/1100mA (highest A I have see in the RCR series) you are still talking about quite long battery life.

Let me put this in to perspective. The USB pack I use is rated at 5v and 1600mAh. I actually get roughly 2 - 2.5 days on each charge. I vape quite a bit (3-4ml a day). So if we half that (800mA) you are likely averaging a single day on a 5v USB pack ...

Putting mA and voltage in to realtime isn't that easy ... You should get *atleast* 5-6 hours if a hardcore user perhaps more! I can only estimate!

If you really enjoy 5v (like a PT) You should stick with it on the Prodigy! Will keep you happy at all times :)

Ok, so the switch that was modular and user replaceable is now pinned and cannot be serviced by the user regardless of dual voltage or single voltage design?

This latest improvement incorporates additional electrical components that are also not user serviceable?

If one of the above mentioned components fail, The user is responsible for shipping the device to PS for repair? Is there a guaranteed turn around time for repair?

Have you committed to a full 1 yr. warranty for the V1 and USBPT?

A: For warranty reasons, yes ...
We also had to take in to account the majority of users ability to do things to it. The switch itself has its own housing, its not bolted/threaded like some other devices, and utitlizes a Tact *Type*, non mechanical type switch.

A: The average user will not be able to 1) Solder 2) Know how to work a resistor 3) Put back together to properly work.

If one of the above mentioned components fail, The user is responsible for shipping the device to PS for repair? Is there a guaranteed turn around time for repair?
A: Yes. Turnaround won't actually be a repair. Once received, we will likely ship out a unit (either brand new or refurbished I guess you can call it) If the unit comes back really really damaged (dropped/stepped on/cracked etc...) then we will actually repair the one sent to us. Repair shouldn't take more than 24/48 hours.

Have you committed to a full 1 yr. warranty for the V1 and USBPT?
A: Its actually on our site :) Warranty on the Prodigy is 6 months, the USB PT is 3 months

See Red :)

In the 'new' Prodigy, an 18650 or single 3.7v CR123 with a spacer will produce around 3.1v which IMHO is underpowered.

The question is... on the 'old' Prodigy... how was 7.4v on an 801?

Under load ... We never saw above 5.9 volts (when tested between 7-7.4v) We did have (2) RCR's that went above the 8v+ mark, and under load, they were pumping out 6.3 - 6.5v

5.9v (under load) was too much for the 801. Although I used it myself and actually got quite used to it, I hated to have to refill the damn thing every few puffs.

EDIT: I would also like to add ... 3.7v used WITH a load only pumps out 3.3 - 3.4v ... Simply adding a multimeter to a Mod or big batt PV threaded end does not tell the true voltage of the device. You have to test the unit under load (with atomizer on to complete circuit) to tell what the true and complete voltage/power is :)

Okay Tim Taylor, I mean Steve. How long do I have before I have to decide? Any chance you can drag an innocent bystander off the street for an unbiased opinion? LOL

I've got several formal occasions this summer and much as I like the looks of the Prodigy, it won't go with some of my dresses and definitely won't fit into my formal purses. Long hours, family, drinking....and if the regular batts won't cut it, well someone's going to get hurt.

An *unbiased* opinion means nothing this day in age, simply for the fact that everyone has their own *opinion* LOL ... It just comes down to trial and error ...

You have up until we announce shipping :) Take your time ... Vape on a passthrough a few more times ... Then let us know ;) LOL

As far as the modular resistor goes, I will let youknow of an idea that I plan to use in some of my mods. I plan to make a wafer thin spacer made of acrilic probaly, that houses my diode configuration. It will have contacts on bolth sides and if I want to use it I just set it on top of the battery. If I dont I just take it out. Once you learn how to solder surface mount components ( wich are realy small) it's no problem . Or even reagular sized components shouldnt be a problem. Eather way since they are not dropping large curents across them.

Just make the simple circuit add contacts and pour the acrilic into a disk shapped mold. Simple and modular.

Although I have the electrical knowledge and experience, I no longer have the physical dexterity to solder... my disability rules that out. If you make this work and are willing to sell one, let me know :)

Wow Steve, your enabler lessons are really paying off. :D

Anybody know what else 18650s might be good for?
