i'm not bothered about battery life .... just buy more batteries ....... i want a shorter draw ... thats all i'm after ... when demonstrating to people you have to pull for at least 4 seconds for the audience to be amazed ..... a shorter draw will be such a good selling point

and when you have 6 people all huddeed around you watching in anticipation ... 4seconds is one hell of a long time

Amen! I want a shorter draw BAD. The long draws that are required with e-cigarettes are really annoying and a major turnoff.

Very much looking forward to my Prodigy, but these changes have inspired me to my first mod. It's going to be bulky, heavy, unattractive, impractical, and altogether satisfying if I can pull it off (and I do mean if... I no longer have a steady hand.)

I'm planning on running two 18650 batteries in series, with an UCC383TDKTTT-5 low dropout regulator. I can already imagine 5v at 3000mAh capacity.

I've ordered the regulators and a custom 18650 battery holder. Next to look at project boxes at Radio Shack. I have no plan, I'm making this up as I go along.

Well, now I'm thoroughly confused on what to do.

I'm not as concerned about the acrolein issue (although some data on the temps would be good), but I am concerned about my VG tasting like crap!

See: VG based e-liquid at 6 volts

I don't imagine the difference would be huge between 6v and 5v. And you say you don't really know anything about VG and haven't tested VG.

Meanwhile, I can't use PG. The irritation I got from it was simply intolerable, and even if I wasn't worried about that, there is the fact that I've got a giant stash of e-liquid laid in in VG. I'm not going to go buying new juice for one e-cig.

Any VG users have an opinion?

I don't think this is an issue with the new design. The voltage will be around 5v similar to a vapeing on a USB passthrough which I don't think anyone has complained about. Personally I like the vapor and taste at 5v.

My experience has been that there is a big difference between 5 volts and 6 volts when using VG liquid.

This is disappointing. So this is going to produce vapor/thr hits the same way as USB passthrough, not better? Does the passthrough for Joye510 also run on 5v? I thought that the battery that is built-in limited the voltage to 3.x v, in which case running 510 on 5v should be different. Or do I have that wrong?

The 510 passthrough runs on a 3.7 volt 10440 battery. It simply uses an alternate power source, ie: USB to provide peak battery voltage while plugged in, and to keep the battery charged. In doing so, it is like taking a hit off a fully charged battery everytime.
To answer your question, yes, running the Prodigy at 5 volts with a 510 adaptor and atty will be different than what you experience with the inline battery 510 passthrough.

I am glad to hear that! I am planning to get Prodigy as soon as there is 510 adapter/version mainly to experience the higher voltage vapes I've read so much about. I will be also getting adapters for 901 and 801 since I still have many parts as a back up. So one Prodigy with multiple adapters should take care of all my battery needs.

Okay, that's good info. I'm currently using a Ruyan Direct penstyle passthrough and, if I'm reading you right, the Prodigy at 5v should be a similar experience?

Hey if you can come up with a mod that looks like your PS usb passthru (new model) man that would be great. I work at nights at the USPS and the new prodigy would be to bulky. I am on my feet for long periods of time so something that bulky would just get in the way. Dont get me wrong I thnk that new mod is beautiful but its to big for me. Plus I like slimmer and sleeker. that new PS usb passthru is about perfect.

Make it with Smaller interchangeable batteries. IM not to worried about more vapor, just longer battery life and good tasteing vapor. If you did Im sure a lot of people would get that type of mod and it will be my last type of ecig. Make it M401 compatible it will be a done deal.

Steve mentioned having a smaller unit in the works for a few months down the road. Not sure how it will compare in size to either the Prodigy or the pass-through though... he just said 'smaller.'

That’s the way to do it! If it doesn't work out you just say “I meant to do that!” then just keep working on it.
