I have something odd to report in terms of percentages. I usually mix HS flavors anywhere between 3 and 5 percent, but when it comes to Red, I have to go even lower. 3% is usually OK for me, but when I took it down to 1.5% for a friend, I found it a very pleasant vape. Some subtle flavors are coming out that I didn't know existed. Has anyone noticed such a thing, or am I just imagining?

I have a little left from buy hangsen, compared to RTS. The hs bottle smells way way better, the RTS smells well - old. The hs smells fresh, RTS near rancid in comparison.

I'm done with rebottlers.

Taste is subjective.

Truth. The super popular premixed tobacco flavors like H1N1/Smooth Criminal/Prime etc aren't really tobaccos in my mind. They are complex flavors but definitely more on the sweet/dessert side than the tobacco side. The stuff most of us are DIY'ing are much more earthy/leafy/natural than the mainstream stuff (outside of NETs of course). If someone adores smooth criminal and thinks that mixing some HS Highway would taste good they may be in for a surprise.

It's a love hate for most. I don't know too many inbetweeners. My wife never really liked my tobacco vapes until I got her hooked on Flue Cured and Deluxe. I sweeten hers up with 1-1.5% EM to give that extra smooth vape with added sweetness. She tried some of her old premix stuff like Blueberry Crumble and Caramel Pear but said she's moved past it and prefers tobaccos now. I consider her a lover now.

This thread is great because we're a bunch of big fans of the more natural tobacco flavor. But it's certainly not for everyone. Everyone should give it a shot with a couple basic smooth tobaccos and test the waters. But if it's not at least "like" at first vape then there's reason to force a circle into a square.

I've ran into this many times with different venders that re-bottle. This is why I've been limiting my purchases to venders such as bullcity and buyhangsen that stock original hangsen. It may cost more but that's a small price to pay for freshness.

Ok I just tried RY1,RY4,BD and USA all done at 2%. WOW wayyyyyyyy too strong for me.

Welcome to the minority who like their flavors on the low side. I almost choked when I first mixed Red USA at 5%.

Red at 5, yeah intolerable its so strong. I'm at 2.5 and still plenty of flavor its a good candidate for a super low mix to make it like a read light cigarette. Not one of my favorites though. Just not for me.. I liked it for a while but then I start passing on it.

I haven't done Hangsen red in a while I've been on a INW S'camel kick lately. I'll have to revisit it soon.

I mix my Hangsen desert ship and highway at 6% and liking it but have to mix FA 7leaves at 10% and still a bit weak IMO. I made a jug of RTS TA at 2% and that can't be vaped alone, it has to be mixed with another tobacco or its brutal but I like the taste never the less, its like a fresh opened pack of cigs. From the TFA, signature and other tobacco flavors I have tried Hangsen far surpasses all of them.
I haven't yet dwelled onto adding anything but a bit of acetyl pyrazine and TA to the Hangsen tobacs yet since they are pretty darn good as stand alone vapes.

Careful with the AP some of the hangsens such as NO.5, TAB, elder captain and highway need very little (.5 - 1%) to no AP at all. But I add TA to all of my hangsen tobaccos. TA gives it that special tobacco push.

I put .5% into my Highway and its good and has gotten stronger over the week+ its been sitting. I'm vaping a atty right now and its real good but still a bit strong and overpowering the highway. I'll have to use a smaller dripper to add the AP next time. 1 drop per 10ml with a glass dropper so the drops could have been a bit big. I'll use a itty bitty hangsen dripper and see how it goes.

I heard FA flavors have two thresholds - 2% and 10% respectively.... You get good flavor at 2% but you won't see much improvement until you go above 10%. I have not checked this for myself, but Jimi D has, and that's good enough for me.
BTW I have never heard of anyone using 7Leaves at 10% - way too much. You might be muting your flavor by going that high.

You know I'm in your camp.. You can get good flavor at 3% but muted at 6 and then it can come back after 10

Remides me of one member who vapes g&s at 15%!!

I think he started at 6 and said no flavor, kept going up till it came back at 15... I can't help but wonder because its plenty strong at 3.5% for me.

I did my initial 7Leaves at 5% like I do all my first time try at a flavor. I make a 10ml 5% single flavor and let it sit then document to what to adjust for next time. At 5% I could taste barely a hinto of something but too weak. Adding more flavor to force taste is a double edged sword, but it shouldn't be necessary but some flavors are that way. I think 10% is even high for any single flavor to make taste but owell.
The Hangsen cola is a surprise to how good it is at 7% but I am disappointed with HS lemon, lots of smell, a drop on the back of the hand tastes good but no taste when vaped.

FA flavors are highly concentrated. 2-3% is usually plenty. Here is a list of recommended percentages:

IMHO Flavour Art tobaccos that I've tried which is almost all of them, range from .3 to 3%...

I use 50/50.

With Hangsen tobaccos I almost always start at 2%....

I'll have to use a smaller dripper to add the AP next time.

I poured 2 ml of AP flavoring into a new bottle, and added 2ml of PG to dilute it in half.
It's much easier to work with when it's not so strong
And, I still have the rest of the full strength flavoring for making larger size recipes.
It goes a looong way
I've had to do that with some other super strong flavorings, and it works great.

I have always tried Tobacco flavorings I have 27 lol. I was hoping to find some other flavorings I liked also but to me all the other non baccy flavorings taste too fake,so I am not so hot to try anymore. I will have to get some more HS and INW baccy flavorings to try. I will mix down the HS RY1,RY4 and BD to 0.25 this time. Unfortunately I did dump the other mixes UGH. I still have 10 more 3ml mixes that are other brands not HS baccys - will try them as I think they are ready.

Thanks, Eddie. Hangsen uses 'American-made' flavorings in their concentrates, so I'd assume the alcohol is from that. But there wouldn't be much in 1ml of concentrate that's a solution of PG/Vg and alcohol. And wouldn't that mostly just evaporate off as you dripped the liquid into a tank? If you put two open bottles side by side, even if they're a foot apart they will pick up each other's flavor. Just like eliquid left open inside a cedar drawer will pick up some cedar taste. Lighter elements of flavor molecules are being lost and 'room smells' are being absorbed. So how can you then replicate the taste of say, a freshly opened Elder Captain?

Ok, I tried them at 0.25%. The BD is good but still a bit strong. I still think the RY4 is strong but I like it better than the RY1 which also is too strong. The trouble is I do the drop method and this batch is in 12ml at 1 drop, in order to make it weaker I will have to add more base. You need to know I only vape 1 ml a day so I do not want to make more of something that is not a favorite flavor. I will vape the BD more to decide what to do. Being a supertaster is NOT fun.
