HEY EVERYONE. Sort of glad to be back home and definitely glad to get back on the laptop. I missed it after we left his daughters and I missed everyone here.

We got back this morning at 2 am. I have never been away from home for over one week. We were in TN 21 days. It went by so fast.

We were in Dad's 1998 Chev Silverado (it now has 52,000 miles on it) and for the first time in my life, we broke down. We were going down the highway just 100 miles from home and suddenly the truck turned off and lost power. Ken got to the side of the road and looked under the hood but did not see anything out of the ordinary. It cranked back up. We went to the nearest gas station and turned it off to google some stuff and then it would not start again. We walked next door to Denny's (there are a lot of people who eats in the middle of the night)

We were trying to figure out the best solution and when we got back to the truck, it started fine so Ken said we would go down the road and if it did it again, we would have to go to plan B.

The truck did fine but it has the check engine light on now. That is something I have never seen either. We are going to take it next week somewhere to see if they can check the codes and help diagnose.

I have been saying I should get AAA since dad passed and I started going places. Of course, I procrastinated but I am thinking after this trip, it would be a good idea to get it.

Oh but that first night on fresh sheets is always so nice :)

Thinking about you @Rat2chat2 , hoping you’re enjoying yourself.
Awww, thank you so much. That made be feel good when I read it.

Course I was 18 before I first started using glasses.
Oh boy, you were lucky. I got my first pair of glasses after my 1st birthday. You probably will not be surprised, but I still have them. Little bitty blue cat eye frames. I am not sure why they would not put pink ones on me though.

Carbs is bread, potatoes and pasta?
It is easier to just say if it tastes really good. . . it's really bad for you.

Awww I miss those days of reading to kiddo. Unfortunately, he never developed my love for reading.
You never know, he may pick it up later on. I also enjoyed reading to my kids and even more when they started reading to me. We went to the library at the start of every week and would get a whole bag of books. There was nothing better than jumping in my bed with clean-smelling

kiddos and reading to them before they went to bed.

I have not gotten on the scales but I am positive that I have gained because of what and how much I ate while I was gone. I got my steps in all but a couple of rainy days but it was slow walking because it was on rocks and around a big horse pasture. I did give myself credit for at least trying to walk.

Ken had a doctor's checkup while we were there. Now his father and favorite uncle both have diabetes and take insulin shots twice a day. Ken's blood work came back and the doctor was not pleased. His A1C was 12 something and his glucose was 400 and something. I think Ken is in denial because he said it could have been wrong and he would get it checked again in six months. I am NOT going to nag him but there was nothing else to do so I did a lot of reading on diabetes and would share it with him.

When I took care of Dad, I fix heart-healthy meals because of his condition so I suppose I will be trying to fix Ken more health-conscious meals. This diet plan will not hurt me one bit since I need to lose what I have gained before it gets any worse. GRRRR

I have now completed all my dirty laundry for the last 3 weeks. I worked on it most of the day. I had 11 loads to do. Sheesh! It sure collects quickly. The first thing I do when I get home is make a gallon of tea and get the wash done. K. en did ask if he could help. I should have let him but of course, I did not. I rather just do it myself and I know it is done right.

Good morning Dale

Thank you for breakfast and quotes. My cold meds wore off and I was awake. Same thing today. Only difference is I had to be out of the house by 7:30 yesterday whereas today I did not. lol

Glad you are home, Rat2 and sounds like you had quite the adventure.

Have a great day!

    Good afternoon Sara:wub:
I can’t get to the emo’s today for some reason.

I don’t like having to leave home early anymore, didn’t used to bother me.

    Hope you’re resting!

    Good evening :)

Yes, today was definitely for resting. The group my mom volunteers with had a benefit for a young woman that is ill. Basket raffle, pulled pork dinner, live auction and I ran the popcorn machine. I really should have sat that one out, but I didn't.

Anyhoo, I have just over 1100 steps today  Pretty much to grab food and use the bathroom.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Hi Sara, I’m glad you took a day to rest
How do you know how many steps you’ve made?

I have been chillin' so much lately that I felt like I had to get out and be productive (other than laundry). Got the truck all cleaned up on the inside from our trip. Got up about 4 five gallon buckets of wild onion that have been driving me crazy in the yard. Mowed a small section up at the house and edged the sidewalk.

I had a coupon for a free dessert from Longhorn so we went and had steaks tonight. It was very tender and very good but not nearly as good as the ones Ken grilled out. Boy, is Longhorn pricey.

We brought the Chocolate Stampede dessert home and just split half one piece. That dessert is huge. I would not have paid that much but since I had a coupon, I had to get it.

I go tomorrow morning to get the permanent crown put on. The temp has done beautifully. It should not take too long. I have had enough dental issues to last for a while.

It was so windy today and quite chilly tonight. It is supposed to be really nice until the weekend when we are expecting rain. They called and said that Ken's chopper was ready to be picked up. He tried to fix it but couldn't. We can pick it up on Tuesday. It will be nice weather so he can take it for a ride. Me and my tookus prefer my bike for the comfort.

    Good morning lurkers

Feeling pretty good today! Still congested but the sinus pressure and brain fog are gone. I have a Garmin fitness tracker, Dale. It tracks steps, stairs, heart rate, sleep etc. There are several brands out there that fit all price points but steer clear of FitBit. I’ve had a few of those since I started wearing one and they are not as good as they used to be.

Rat2, that dessert sounds yummy. Glad the bike is fixed. Good luck with your crown!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Longhorn steak house was unreasonably expensive even before Covid, can’t imagine it now.
I did not know it was that high. I know now. It is not worth the free dessert. After the tip, two New York Strip dinners were $81. It would have been $13 cheaper if Ken had not had 2 beers. GRRRR

Oh well, I know now. Not going to happen again.

I am not sure how accurate it is but I have a Samsung smartphone that keeps track of my weight, sleep, activity time, and step count. I was not pleased when I got on the scales this morning. I gained another 6.4 pounds in TN.

I take full blame but I have gained 26 lbs since I started seeing Ken. I am going to have to get back to the gym and go back to eating like I was pre-Ken. It is impossible for me to cook an awesome meal and not eat it so I am not sure what I should do short of sending packing.

Want to hear something I think is funny? While we were in TN, I had to drink Folgers Instant coffee because he did not have a coffee maker. I was looking forward to getting home and having a good cup of coffee but I am sitting here right now drinking Folgers because I like it.

Good evening Dale and Rat2

yeesh criminey! Thank goodness I don't like steak. That's crazy for a chain.

Gaining weight sucks. I worked so hard before Covid hit and was feeling confident. Then I gained it all back plus some. I'm now very close to what I was then but I sure as heck don't feel like it. Thanks, middle aged self

I hope you all have a great night!

Good evening Sara. Guess we’re all in the same boat huh?
