I just know that other people are so into flavours and say they taste so delicous. They don't.
Taste and flavor are very subjective. Your equipment also plays a huge role in how well you can taste flavors in e-liquid, whether you DIY or not. Some people consider the Evod a "proof of concept" device in that many people use it to start just to see if there is anything to this "vaping".

Any juice types that won't screw up my vaping experience?

Most uses applies to this (I DIY, it was even worse with premade juices)
- Breaks the tanks/leakage problems
- I can barely taste them no matter the %, this applies from the start
- Coils need to be changed several times a week
- Sometimes it struggles with firing (due to the juice)
- LEAKAGE
- I usually end up throwing the whole aroma tank out of the window

I use the evod 1 starter set currently, and have had this problem since the start. I just smoke VPG with nicotine, and sometimes add a few drops of menthol for that refreshing feel in the throat and nose after. Maybe this will be better on my next setup, who knows. I just know that other people are so into flavours and say they taste so delicous. They don't.

You're only SMOKING it if you're setting it on fire. If you're not setting it on fire, then you're VAPING it.

How long has it been since you smoked? It can take QUITE a while for tastebuds and olfactory sense to recuperate; I think it was probably at least 6 months before vaping was anything but a nice scent, to me. And I had a nose like a bloodhound even as a smoker, is probably the only reason I could smell my vape -- my sense of taste was basically comatose for at least 6 months after quitting.

Wow, first time I called vaping for smoking. Not the intention. I've vaped for a year, and been smokefree since february. I smoked since I was 12 and I'm 18 at the moment.

I didn't notice any difference in my tastebuds after quitting smoking, if so it happened so slowly I didn't notice it. I had some juices a few months ago that were absolutely horrible. All my clothes stank, the apartment, it was way worse than the smoking stain (I actually enjoy the smell of tobacco and smoke) according to those I asked. My tastebuds are definetely working, it's just that I've never managed to enjoy a flavour for a longer time period. When I go full in for flavours (maybe every other month I buy 3-4 aromas), I switch them back and forth to avoid fatigue and really try to enjoy them, make different dosage batches and let them steep for a while. But it really doesn't work.

I just want to enjoy them as every other people do. But it's either the tasteless aroma making it feel useless or all the problems coming with it. But I don't have a problem with flavourless VPG bases. It's okay and a few drops of menthol makes it taste good (menthol i can feel!). As long as my PV works and I get to inhale and exhale the liquid, I'm happy. That's the part I really liked about smoking. There's something I miss (opening a fresh pack and putting up the lighter and light up the cig and everything that comes with it mmm), but quitting smoking was not hard at all with the PV. I bought it at the time purely because I wanted to save some money, and then quit the smoking all together when I found out I were going to be a future parent with my girlfriend I live together with.

But the flavour struggle is all that annoys me. I feel like I'm missing out on something huge. You know when you were a kid, and all your friends went to the movies etc without telling you. That's excactly how I feel it now. Maybe a little exaggeration, but what the hell.

EDIT: Of course everyone get's caught up in the fact that I said "smoked" instead of "vaped". It was a mistake!

I'm tired.

vapez, when I first started vaping, I often went through periods of time when I couldn't really taste anything. It does help some to drink more water or to frequently change flavors. But sometimes you just have to go through it awhile before it changes. I think most vapers go through what you're going through, especially early on. I wish I had a great solution for you, but I don't. Just don't feel you are alone.

You only smoked for 6 years .............. I smoked for almost 60 years. Trust me, it took some of us quite a while to regain the ability to taste.

Beyondvape make a silo lite tank that holds 3.5ml. I owned a couple and they work with the BVC (non nautilus) coils.
They are SS and quite heavy, I don't know where you can get them in the states but here is a local to me link

Here it is on Beyond Vape's site (they are in California):

Sometimes it's not just about your taste buds. You also need a sense of smell. If that is playing up then you have difficulty tasting anything. When I take antihistamines for my allergies it deadens both taste and smell which is why I stick with menthols. That way I get a tongue sensation rather than an actual taste. When this happens I suck a sugarless mint lolly while I vape and that seems to satisfy the taste needs. I feel your frustration :(

As a test hold your nose and see if you knock out your taste.

I drink 2-3 L of water every day, maybe more. This is not something that happens once in a while. I've never been able to enjoy a taste. It just doesn't taste. Maybe a little hint of a flavour, but no chance in hell I could've guessed what it was. Once I had a cherry flavour, a custard flavour and a pina colada flavour. The only way I could tell those apart were by looking at the color. When I do use flavours, I switch maybe three times during a day.

I know, I'm just stating that it's not the issue for me.

I just tried that with a high dosage custard vanilla juice. Not much difference..

Vaping with a gum with taste usually makes it feel like the vape tastes. Or sweets as you say, but I don't eat snacks or candy so I stick to gum. It helps a bit for the flavour part.

I'm gonna order a bunch of aromas and test with my new setup coming next week. If not, then I guess I'll just have to quit trying flavours for good.

Edit: I also know I can't smell as good as other people do. When people are saying "do you feel that weird smell?" I don't. I definetely can smell, but not as much as other people.

I have some sort of cold or something presently, maybe mild flu, not sure, and my sense of smell has gone completely psychotic -- yesterday, everytime I exhaled vapor, I got the scent of melted plastic -- no earthly idea WHY melted plastic, since there's no "plastic" in my Achilles except the rubber or silicone o-rings, and they certainly aren't melting. After I pulled the wick and dry-burned, it got a little better, so it might have been the gunk I was smelling, though it wasn't really bad, and certainly never smelled like that before! Today, my sense of smell seems to be about 90% offline, even though I'm not stuffed up. At least I don't get that godawful stink inside my sinuses I used to get with a cold, when I smoked.

something else to consider is if you deal with any chemicals, cleaning products, varnishes or glues or any high fume products you can sometimes pick up the taste of them through your skin. That also impacts your vaping. An example might if I use bleach for cleaning, or put nail varnish on. It changes the taste of my eliquid. A way to check is to think about if your taste or smell is better after you stop and wash your hands or shower or change work clothes.

The weird and wonderful world of the human being. It's all connected

What hardware are you using? Toppers can make a big difference on flavor. As will the power applied.

I find that some flavors will go away if I turn the power up too far, others will shine at high(er) levels.
