I'll look into that atty and see of a better coil geometry is possible.

There's actually room for a longer coil than I've been using. I'm not sure how many wraps that would be, though. And unfortunately, right now 30 is the smallest wire gauge I have. (Well, I do have some 30 gauge Nichrome. I just need to keep the ohms above 1).

With the size of the air port you are limited to a tiny coil. You may get better flavor if you make the coil ID smaller, 2mm or so.

Got my 430 SS 28 gauge wire today and made a 9-10 wrap coil at around 3mm or so.

Came out at 1.0 Ohms and it's Krakenlicious at 13.5W!

Then I'll definitely try it! I have a Taifun GT that disappoints me in flavor - it's a bit muted, so I'd love something to bring out the flavor more.

When I'm wrapping it, do I double the wraps for a single coil to get the same resistance? In other words, if it takes me 6 wraps to get 1.5 ohms, do I do 12 wraps to get the same thing?

Yep it will half the resistance, Maybe not exactly but pretty much. If 6 wraps gives you .5 ohms then parallel 6 wraps of the same wire will put you at .25 ohms.
It may start out lower but once oxidized by heating it should work out to be 1/2 of the single coil value.

Kinda hard to do a spaced parallel coil?

My Kraken is sitting here waiting to be cleaned, it has a single coil Kanthal build on SS Rope and Mesh.

Mesh or Cotton build in yours?

I need to get a bit of SS430 to try out.

Wouldn't twisted pretty much take up the same amount of space as a parallel wrap? I just took one of my Taifuns apart to really look at the base, and it is a pretty small area to work with.

430 SS 28 gauge seems ok to me, Unkamen has it for $10/200ft. Worth it.

I went with cotton tonite as I was being Lazy and just wanted to test the wire really, No sidetaste at all.

Looks like I should pick up some 32 gauge kanthal and just give it a try. If it doesn't work in the Taifun, I'm sure I have something else it will work in. Boden says it gives better flavor, and that's what I'm after the most.


ETA: Just went on eBay and ordered some from Lightning Vapes. Can't wait to try this !
