I've always found it amusing when people that talk like that seem to find something amusing about a southern accent. And also quite annoying. :D

Pretty soon FL: will be all New Yorkers and Hispanics.
They've been saying that for years!! Still hasn't happened. (Says the girl born, raised & still living in So. Fla.)

Like this, @AndriaD ...

Jay :headbang:

Yeah, that all sounded pretty familiar. I especially liked the "he's a goober" remark -- that's pretty much my take on that Tripper idiot. :D

But I have to say, my accent really isn't as strong as most of those ladies -- I did live in Michigan for 5 yrs! And it took another 5 after I got back to ATL to stop saying "pop".

People think Canadians have an accent. Apparently we say "hoose" and "aboot". Not. Well, maybe Torontonians do but not us West Coasters :)

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I have been to Florida countless times and to me not much different (people wise) than the north . You want to experience something very different try the Carolina's lol , totally different language and lifestyle.

Children are called Young uns , Fathers are referred to as "My Daddy" , Grandfathers are known as Granddaddy , Menhaden are called "Pogies" , more than one individual is referred to as "Ya all" and most females 16 and over have two or more children .

Most businesses and schools are shut down completely over a very light dusting of snow even though everybody owns a pickup truck .

Not criticism just stating the obvious , much much different than Florida or the North.

Pickup trucks are about useless in snow, unless you've got a load of bricks or rocks in the back.

Dunno about the Carolinas, I've only ever been there twice, for short visits. I'm from Atlanta, and had my first and only child when I was not quite 27. I have no earthly idea what a "menhaden" is, nor a "pogie." I called my father "daddy" when I was a child; "dad" when I got older. My grandfather, I called "Pop" though I called him "Poppadaddy" when I was a very young child. My grandmother I called "grandmother."

And yes, y'all is a contraction for "you all" which OBVIOUSLY refers to more than one person.

And a goober is actually a peanut, but those individuals who are just stupid/asinine are also frequently called that.
