^ I rather doubt it. It's just a different means of making a connection. The limiting factor in mods with on-board chargers tends to be the on-board charger itself, which can't really count on having mure than 500 mA available from a USB port without engaging in some "negotiation" with the host port. Such negotiations are complicated by the fact that there are two incompatible standards for that; the real standard, and Apple's proprietary one. :D

That makes sense. Sounds like the micro-usb version is the winner then. Like others have said I am near a micro-usb port pretty much everywhere I go so it just makes sense.

Ya. I had a hard time deciding between the magnetic and the micro usb. For me this is a desk mod at work so ill be using it while charging a lot and in the past people have complained about the port coming loose. Id rather it just come disengaged rather than putting stress on the port if I accidentally tug on it.

Of course this is all theory at this point since I don't have it yet. I was just thinking over the long haul getting years of use that maybe the port is a weak point and crossing fingers the magnetic port will last longer. Who knows. I did get the extra cable. Hoping that will take care of my needs.

Rossum, every time I come into this thread I laugh my .... off. Your avatar of Peter Sellers as Dr. Strangelove reminds me of his character Merkin Muffley. Just saying "Merkin Muffley" makes me belly laugh. That movie is one of my favorites of all time. Thanks for the laughs man (for those of you who don't know what a merkin is please check it out, then watch the movie. You'll belly laugh too). "Merkin Muffley". I just had to say it again.

Interesting. There are a number of mods I would choose for desk duty ahead of the Vaporshark. To me, the Vaporshark's most compelling features is its diminutive size, which gives it pocketability and portability that no other DNA mod can match.

But I have to say, if I were going to buy one strictly for desk duty and was always going to use it at the same desk, then the magnetic connection would be my preferred choice.

Ya. I hear ya. I need to keep it concealed or at least camouflaged on my desk. It's hard to keep my big tubes hidden behind things. On its back this will blend in with my other electronic devices. Nobody has ever told me I cant vape at my desk but I keep it as incognito as possible. If someone ever tells me I can't I wont anymore so id rather that not ever happen lol.

I might take it home with me in the car so I got the extra cable for home. Depends on how much I love using it I guess.

The Pit of Despair
Just got the same call as others. I ordered black/magnetic and they just called me offering to ship gunmetal/usb today. Had to call back because I forgot I had a separate order for the magnetic cable. They cancelled that order since it hadn't shipped. Hopefully the weekend is what caused the delay for those of you who don't have a tracking number yet. I know I defended the magnetic charging as being a good thing, and I still think it's probably preferable, but it'll be nice knowing that a charger is almost always near-at-hand with micro-usb. And if I love the thing enough I'll probably order a second anyway, in black/magnetic.

Now I can't seem to find pictures of the gunmetal version. I thought they had them on the site, but I'm not seeing them now.

I got the same call and did the exact same thing including canceling the extra cable. I do like magnetic charging but I'd like to not deal with an odd cable at home, work, and other in a daily carry bag.

Fancy meeting you here. :)

I guess this is the gunmetal:

Vs. the black:

Not sure why I didn't even consider it when I ordered. Black just seems like a natural color for stuff like this, but if the gunmetal is the same as that render, I think I'll like it just fine.

I went magnetic figuring it would be less stress on the charging port, as that seemed to be a common failure point for the DNA 20 devices they released. But the switch to USB is also a good option, I have those cords in every room of the house, my bags, and my car. Figuring 30 watts on a 1200 mah battery, that may be a good thing.

That's what it came down to for me. The magnetic probably is a better option, but convenience wins, especially with the 1200 mah battery. If it breaks, i'll get it fixed.

Got a shipping notice email on my gunmetal/usb. I guess they were being honest when they said it'll ship out today. I doubted the guy on the phone and he said no, they were definitely going out today.

And for anyone wondering, I also asked the guy on the phone ETA on the black/magnetic, and he said it's still 3/15. That's a Saturday, so they probably won't go out until next Monday.

I still haven't received a shipping notice, kinda wishing I had just stuck with my original order. I'm trying to be patient, but they are handling this in a pretty messy way.

Same here. I got a tracking number (2nd one) but it's still not showing anything other than "electronic notification received". But I do know USPS tracking has been really spotty lately, maybe that's it. But by this time it's usually updated.

Well... Haven't gotten contacted and I'm still waiting on shipping info BUT... the VS website has ben updated again! The new message states:

"All DNA orders placed after March 5th will ship 3/25 or earlier."

I ordered on 2/18 (black, USB)... I wonder when mine will be shipping? :(
I ordered mine on 02/06, magnetic gunmetal. I haven't received a call or anything, I'm just twideling my thumbs waiting for my new toy to ship.
