What do you say to people when they tease you?

My kids think it's the coolest thing. My husband who doesn't smoke has tried it. They are all happy that I don't want to smoke anymore. So far I've used it just like an analog, like yesterday at my son's football game I waited until half time to go out and use my pv with the smokers just like I've always done. A lot of my friends thought it was cool or didn't say anything. A friend of mine who's a doctor even said "good for you". So maybe I was being over sentive with my nephew he does like to pick on me. We are about the same age.

Wherever possible, educating people is definitely the way to go.

Think about it... if you smoked for years and couldn't quit and now vape instead, wouldn't you have given anything to know about it years before?

But the main reason for education is the more of us who vape, the more clout we have, and less chance the FDA and other organisations will have of shutting us down. If ecigs are banned when a few thousand people are vaping, the FDA could care less. If millions of vapers kick up a ....storm, they may just have to think twice.

"The more, the merrier" - That's my motto!

It depends. As others have mentioned, I'd just play along if it were a kid. For an adult, it depends on circumstances.

For a smoker, I'd mention that I'll say something nice about them at their funeral

For a non-smoker who cares about me (ie: family/friends, usually worried about my safety since we all know PG is untested and not approved and hence unsafe) I just casually offer to go back to smoking analogs

For a non-smoker who doesn't know me, I either ignore them completely, or (particularly nice when I'm vaping in the office) I'll offer to light up an analog right there instead (I keep a half a pack of analogs and lighter in my desk for just this purpose :) )

Wow I mention to jokingly smack a kid on the head and the post gets all angry with big bearded men and military sniper combat units... ok Don't kill your newphew ok. I don't want e-cigs to go down in a blaze of glory cause I inspired anything...<end joke here>

I had the same thing happen to me a few days in. From my Brother in law, it was merely an observation he made that was a bit insulting. I had nothing to say, well later I had about 10 things I SHOULD have said. However during the moment, it just kinda hurt too much to think of a witty repartee. Long as I am happy and enjoying myself, and loved ones are happy. Good enough for me.

In one move, I got rid of 4k chemicals in my newly extended life, oh, and I don't have cravings and get irritable and grouchy and want to kill people who ask me questions like that. I am 5' 6" and 175 and I have been to the dark place. (since everyone else is giving stats ;)

I won't die from emphysema or lung or throat cancer. Need some help up that hill, there? How much crap do you cough up every morning? Did you know I can smell you from 10 feet away?

Kids?
*THWAP!* Respect your elders. I'll live long enough to be a burden to you.

I prefer being a non-smoker who has found a better way to deal with the addictive side of her personality, lol.

LOL, I dunno, no one has given me a hard time about smoking a pv. But I got some good answers prepared, no?$

My young cousins next door put it so well. They call it Aunt Lisa's cool cigarette and are now pestering their parents to get them cause Aunt Lisa doesn't smell stinky and it's not real smoke. Gotta love kids. Oh and they tell the rest of the family that Aunt Lisa quit smoking, in very proud little voices, it's their opening line now:) My sister refers to it as my high-tech puffer that's got her sister off smoking.

I was talking to my husband today about trying the ptb method: explaining what it was, how it was working and how well I liked it. Out of the blue he said "You need to learn to talk like Bob Dole." Puzzled, I looked at him and said "What? Bob Dole? You mean the politician?" He starts laughing and says, "yes, think about it". So I sit there, my 510 Mega in my hand and I realize, the whole time I was talking to him I was holding PV and making hand motions just like Dole holds his ink pen. Then I finally "got it". Busted a gut laughing.

I used my PV for the first time at work yesterday and went out like I normally did on my periodic smoke breaks with friends. I expected to get a few laughs and jokes but none. A couple were curious about it and just asked questions.

I do know the jokes will eventually happen, that's why I'll avoid pink batteries, no need to encourage people :)

Aw...that kinda cute... (Just be sure to teach them that e-cigs are for grown ups, and that they're better off if they never smoke or vape anything when they grow up.)

My daughter used to answer her friends questions about it, said I was ridiculous and then she'd open the cupboard where I had a huge juice and supply stash and refer to it as my .... lab. They are kids. Kids do that. They also refer to it as my crack pipe. Whatever, but they appreciate the fact that I am not polluting their world with cigs. They'll bring their smoking friends to me in hopes of them getting off the cigs.
Most of them don't want to go head to head with the teasing game, I'll take their teasing and I'll give it right back at them.

I did have one gal I was working with ask while I was standing outside with the smokers, hitting on my chuck "Don't people laugh at you?" I just said well, people always have laughed at me, what's this have to do with it. Honestly, I don't give a rats behind. After 28 years of smoking I quit. And yeah, I smoke a big mod that seems to bit a bit more obnoxious than the average e-cig.
When I watch people smoke, ones my age, knowing they've hit the point where it seems really hopeless and the young ones who think that when they get alittle older they can walk away from it (yeah, right) I don't feel self conscious about it at all and I feel sad for them.
I look in the mirror, as a 44 year old woman, then I feel stupid and silly, at all the premature wrinkles I gave myself over the years. Now, tease me about that or my .... and I will truly be upset. :) Tease me all day long about my pv, I just don't care.
