Yes they would include everyone they could think of in any court action.

I once got called to jury duty for one of the asbestos cases. Luckily I didn't have to serve on it as the judge was saying 3 to 6 months.

But they had included every hardware store, manufacturer and employer they could think of. They didn't even know where the asbestos product came from which is why they included manufacturers (multiple) and every hardware store in the area that sold such products decades ago

Well, regardless of the "smok controversy" (which I no longer participate in, got no dog in this race) I think it's fair to say that this is a new user who had a bad time (potentially due to lack of knowledge) but it sounds like he DID get some help from the vape store and that's great, as this sounds like a combination of Very bad luck (honestly, I most CERTAINLY was not treating batteries with the respect they deserved until I got here) and newness/not really knowing what CAN happen AND rightfully returned the product, got some education about battery safety, and hopefully things will go well from here on out.

To the OP, you probably have something of a case with your carpet. If you really want to pursue it, I hope you took pictures and etc. If there was any kind of warning about not charging overnight in your first kit, I'd probably say the manufacturer is covered. If not, you do have that option, although who to "sue" and how would probably be best discussed with a free consultation with a lawyer.

Either way, glad you found ECF and hopefully are headed off to a much better vaping spot. Best of luck to you and I'm sorry that your story was questioned rather than responded to. Hope things go well for you whatever you decide.

Perhaps a better phrase would be "with numerous complaints?"

No question there are a lot of Smok "complaints." The question is what percent of those "complaints" are actually defective equipment and what percent are abuse and/or user error? Many, if not most of the "complaints" I've read about are either, like this thread appears to be, user error or the poster complaining never returns with any follow-up as to what the actual cause of the problem is/was making it near impossible to determine accurate percentages for either. I also get a sense a substantial number of Smok purchasers are new vapers who tend to have "problems" learning how to use their gear, regardless of brand. But I have no way of knowing fore sure.

If one merely chooses to count the number of Smok complaints, you can rack up a large number. Whittle out those with any number of variable reasons for abuse or user error as well as "complaints" or "warnings" made based solely on what a poster has read and that number might not be so large in comparison to total sales.

One can count the number of "complaints", but there is no number available for how many Smok users are getting along just fine with no "problems" or "complaints."
Any oldtimers remember the Smoktech Groove? There were so many that went up in smoke (no pun intended) SMOK had to recall the entire line.

Yes the lawyers will include everyone, their dog, their dead relatives, and sometimes even pull random names out of a hat to add to a suit. Actually proving liability on any of them beyond the manufacturer is fairly difficult though. They would have to prove that directvapor knowingly sold a defective product, where as liability can be pinned on the manufacturer as basic negligence which is much easier to "prove" (and I use that term loosely).

I am beginning to think you are right but just in case he is serious I hope he will come back with more information if he really wants help. It is kinda strange the this was his first post since he joined the forum in 2012. The 96 years old kinda threw me too but that could have been transposed numbers.

I guess y'all have guessed by now....I ALWAYS try to see honesty up until the time I am proven wrong. :)

All kinds of reasons a 96 year old would want to quit smoking. ... saving money is one!

ETA: To the OP, that's rather an inside joke as hobbyist vapors never manage saving much money. .. lol..

If I MAKE it to 96, I most definitely would like to be vaping. Although when I quit when I was pregnant I used to wistfully think.... "When I am 80 I will smoke again," LOL. Well, I was smoking again sooner than I figured, but I'm so happy to be a vaper now.

And to the OP, if you are 96, 107, heck, any age over 18, I am GLAD you are starting vaping and I sincerely hope you have a better experience with your new gear, because vaping not only saved my life, it probably saved me YEARS of misery dealing with COPD and slowly drowning.

AND I sincerely do hope that you stick around ECF as well...

I guess its possible to blow up any device using usb 3 not sure but believe it is capable of 5a current where usb 2 is 2a current. Manufactures include a usb cables for a reason. That is the only cable you're suppose to use. The premium 18650 batteries are rated to handle a 4a quick charge or at least mine are.

Amps are drawn by the device not pushed by the power supply. All power supplies (USB, Wall Wart, Battery, etc.) have a MAXIMUM amp rating. Using a power supply that is under rated (amperage) for the device is when bad things happen.

I think an area rug would be less costly of a pursuit.

I would never have imagined someone spilling their coffee in their lap would have cost McDonalds a cool million either, when there doesn't exist a person on the planet who doesn't know that coffee is hot and you should be careful if driving with hot coffee between your legs..

I guess that entirely depends on how much you smoked. I smoked 13-14 packs a week. I can buy my e-juice and a atty every week and still save money over smoking. That is about what I'm doing. So far I got 2 smok tanks, a rda, a rtda, and just ordered a VV Pyro 24 rtda. I'm set for a while and only need ejuice
