I stopped smoking a pack and a half to two a day because I noticed I was having issues breathing and had trouble sleeping through the night due to nicotine cravings. It started on an njoy close to three years ago and was not happy so went back to smoking, then found the blu, ego-T, and lT V1 and stopped for a bit until stress drive me nuts and one day I didn't have a battery replacement and picked up the nasty habbit again. Going to stick with it this time as I am tired of how I felt and want to survive to live a nice, long life.

  1. Health: Got tired of being winded from running for 30 seconds or walking up a hill, and of course the given long term complications. My father was always harping on me to quit too.
  2. Money: I'm still amazed I bought that many cigarettes, and with rough estimates of what I've saved in this period alone (since March), even with a decent expense, is mind blowing. But I just see taxes continuing to rise for smokers and here its already too much for me.
  3. Hobby/Fiddling: Generally interested in electronics and the like. As soon as I even saw the first cigalike PVs years back I knew I wanted one...but I'm kind of glad I put it out of my mind until the industry got better. With my first RBAs arriving this week (and another next) it just increases my tinkering with things. Have a strong interest in building my own mod soon. Its practically inevitable I will start DIY liquid in the next few months.

Definitely a few other reasons. I've still not once heard a woman say shes attracted to the smell of cigarettes on my clothes/breath (hell, neither was I). I very much enjoy the act of smoking, still really enjoy hookah/shisha on a blue moon occasion, and this is the healthiest method while still sharing strong similarities with shisha/hookah. I do enjoy collecting things, but its not a hobby I really like to acknowledge, as it justifies my spending.

:p

Health reasons....in truth it was rekindling an old habbit when Pherik came in with a Blu, having personal experiences with them before they weren't really all that when they first came out.
I did some research and ran in to a Joyetech Vision....took a chance on it and it was great. Flavor unlike I'd expected and kept me away from the analogs.
Fell out again and back on to analogs, sadly this was during the time of Finals in college and capstone. Stayed on that until I picked up the LT again, revisited that with a phoenix RBA and been on it since.
Health and well being is why I quit...couldn't be happier truthfully.

I was only smoking maybe 5 cigs a week when I decided to pick up vaping. I would grab a pack every now and then, but didn't want to get back to the half pack a day I used to to puff. I've quit a few times with not too much difficulty (taking Welbutrin makes it easy) but nicotine just seems to agree with me and I didn't want to fully give it up. The varied gear and endless flavor possibilities was just a bonus.

I agree with burnmatoaka. I do tend to like the act of smoking, but I don't like how it makes me feel and smell later.

Vaping seems to be a nice way to get the benefits of nicotine and the ritual of smoking, without most of the health issues that come along with it.

I love all the gear and the options. I may be more into the gear and liquids than I am the nicotine at this point. Maybe I need to take up robotics or something as a hobby.

Health & Money.
Teeth & Fingers.
Obviously the cancer, heart diseases and things like that popped in my mind once a while. My grandpa was 92 and smoked for over 50 years of his life without those, but my friend got lung cancer at the age of 40 and another one heart attack at same age... so yeah, stopped thinking like a kid about those killers and hope that e-cig will not cause all that to me.
My teeth hate cigarettes, 2 weeks after visiting dentist they are back at creepy color :)
My fingers would also get brown-ish colors.
Well and than there is money, which is always good to have more or invest it into something else. Just started so I'm kinda on wrong path here, wasting more money than on analogs, but hopefully it'll change during this month.

I've also made "Self-motivation" promise. Stop smoking analogs = new High-end speakers or 80" TV :)

I had had e cigs for about 6 months. My son had pancreatic cancer and I would not smoke around him so I used the e cig when he was around. Last Christmas Eve, I refused to go out in the chaos to buy cigarettes and went the whole weekend using just the e cig. When I returned to work, I bought a carton and liked to coughed my lungs out. I finished the carton as they were too expensive to throw out. On New Years Day, I smoked my last analog and have not looked back.

I couldn't smoke at work, so I bought a convenience store ecig to get me through the day. It worked, I smoked less, but I was still smoking. So, I did some research online and found out about the wonderful world of vaping. Two KGOs, a Twist and a Provari later, I haven't had a smoke in over a month. I still can't believe it.

To quit the analogs. I used them for 48 years & quit the day I got my first PV which was a real looser, but kept looking for the one that worked for me.
I now use a Reo Grand BF with RBA from Robert O'Neal & could have saved a lot of money by buying it to start with.
Not every PV is for everybody so invest a little money & find the one that works for you.

I smoked from 14-31 and quit cold turkey. After 2 weeks I did the acupuncture thing which really helped. After 6 months of not touching a cigarette I decided to have the occasional cigar. That turned into a cigar every weekend. Then a couple each night on the weekends. Then several during the week and so on. A friend of mine had me try the Ego-t and I've had maybe 2 cigars since that time a year and a half ago. After getting fed up with the crappy wick on the ego-t I switched to dripping on a 1.5ohm atty which is where i've been for about a year now.

I started August 2012. I had smoked for 16 years, and quit a couple of times (the longest stretch being 11 months).

After gradually decreasing my cigarettes to one or two a day over a few months, I finally quit cold turkey on June 6th 2012.

However, I still had the urge and was miserable for two months. I'd gotten over the nicotine withdrawal, mostly, but missed the habit of taking breaks, chatting/smoking with my neighbor and smoker friends, and the general routine which I actually enjoyed. That's the reason I went back to cigarettes after quitting for 11 months a few years earlier, and it led me to smoke even more.

So, in August, 2 months after quitting analogs, I did some research which led me to these forums. I bought some 808 batteries and cartos before a trip to Las Vegas, and they arrived just in time for my trip. If I didn't have those, I know I would've gone back to analogs after being around so much cigarette smoking!! :D So, vaping really helped me..

My main reason for quitting analogs was for health reasons... but with saving money being a slight motivation. Vaping helped combat all the "excuses" I had for returning to cigarettes in the past: hand-to-mouth habit, socializing and stress relief (albeit from nicotine, but without the added chemicals). Best of all, my hand and clothes don't smell like an ashtray.

Hey everyone! I go by Bren ~
I've been browsing the forum since June and thought it was time to join the fun!

This looks like a good thread to start with.

I was making an 8-hour road trip to visit my mom last summer and decided to take my 2 y.o. granddaughter with me.

Before that trip, I had a series of steps (bordering on OCD) that I followed when behind the wheel. :)
It was: sit, close door, buckle-up, adjust mirrors, start car, get tunes going, 'crack' window, grab analog/lighter, fire-up, Check mirrors, release emergency break, put in gear and go.

So, preparing for the trip I had a delimma:
I'd never smoke around the baby and I was a chain smoker when driving. I'd only heard a little about e-cigs, so when I came across the (almost) worthless convenience store disposables...seemed a viable alternative. It did the job, but barely! I think it satisfied my psychological needs more than anything.

Soon as I got a chance, I did some research and am delighted with my current set-up: ego-c w/CE4+ clearo's and my d.i.y. juice. I don't miss analogs ~ if anything, it's the sensation of holding one while it burns. I started vaping june, 2012 and other than a puff on an analog when around my hubby, I am a vape-only gal.

When I have the urge to hold an analog, I only puff once, to light it and then just hold it until it burns out. The nasty taste I get from lighting it reminds me that I much prefer my 'juice'.

There is some sort of odd psychological satisfaction to holding the thing. Even when it isn't burning (or worse, when I'm not paying attention and it IS burning my finger!).
The human brain can be a strange creature...
