My reason(s)?
1. To quit smoking for better health (and restore my senses of taste and smell)
2. Encouragement from a friend who LOVED vaping
3. NOT to save money - I was really a moderate smoker (1-2 packs per week) and since researching and shopping for tanks and APVs is my new hobby I'm spending a little more than did on cigarettes. I swear, as soon as I get my Precise ELA with a Kick I'll be all squared away.

I too, love smoking. I'll say it. I really just wanted to transition myself to something that was less toxic, less stinky, less unsafe for those around me. I got to the point that I didn't like the flavor of cigarettes but I needed the nicotine, needed the action of smoking. Tried lozenges last semester to get me through the days at my clinical sites....and wanted to scream by the time I walked out of the hospital! Then I'd chain smoke all the way home. I felt exhausted, I was sick all the time, and my BP which normally ran 120/70 started climbing. I'm otherwise a pretty healthy person...I eat well, am at a healthy weight, exercise and drink water all the time...but I know it was catching up to me. My parents have both been smoking for over 40 years each, and I see the toll it has taken on them as well as some of the patients I've cared for. I don't want to end up with COPD. So, I decided to go with an e cig and stop smoking regulars altogether. So far, so good.

Initially, it was because of the weather! It was January. Cold as crap outside (at least for South Carolina), and I didn't want to have to keep going outside to smoke, as I didn't smoke in the house. Got a V2 as my first one, took my first vape, and never looked back! Naturally, I quickly found this forum, and lots of information and upgraded my equipment. Been quite happy since.

I also have kids and smelling like smoke is gross. I can't stand the thought of them smelling it on me. And lets face it, smoking is embarassing at my age. Nobody seems to smoke anymore. Unfortunately, its also been my stress relief. I still feel like I need it.
So I'm giving this a go and hopefully, I will no longer stink of cigarettes when I pick up my kids from preschool

I had read that children of smokers where more than likely to smoke as well.

Well guess what? My dad smoked - I smoked. My husbands parents smoked - so do all of their kids.

so now we have two kids, and both of us smoked. We didnt went our kids smoking, because they saw us doing it.

I wanted to quit smoking and tried unsuccessfully several times. It was always that 'first drink' after quitting for a few days that started me back smoking. So I gave the nicoderm patches another try, went through the whole program, no cheating and also no drinking -and after a couple of months, I was no longer a smoker. So then comes the time to try that refreshing afternoon cocktail on a hot summer afternoon and whaddaya know, halfway through my 2nd Mojito, I'm walking down the street to the convenience store where I had seen the disposable e-cig display before and in no time at all I was huffing and puffing and happier than a buzzard on a gut truck! I have upgraded from the disposables since then and loving it.

Strangely, I started vaping after having quit cigarettes for almost seven years. The desire to smoke never went away. During a time of enormous stress I caved in and bought a pack of cigarettes... only to find that I found THEM disgusting but the nicotine to be exactly what I needed. I remembered the mall kiosk and bought my first crappy kit. I've been vaping happily for about two years now.

I can really relate to your post. I quit smoking 2 years ago after 25 years of a 2 pad habit. I never lost my desire to smoke and started doing whatever I could to replace it. I gained 50 pounds and was so depressed that I almost went out and bought a pack of smokes. Lucky for me I saw the blu disposable behind the counter and found this forum. I feel like vaping is a lifesaver and I plan to buy kits for all my family members that smoke.

I started vaping so I could get my nic fix in places that don't allow smoking (planes, restaurants, work, etc.) I find it easy to keep it on the DL even in places where e-cigs aren't allowed. Little did I know that vaping would completely replace the analogs within a few days. I am so glad I switched. No more 2nd hand smoke around my kids (I know I shouldn't have; but I did smoke around my kids) and no more bad smells in my clothes, home, and car.
