No Worries Here.
I saw That on a Long Time Ago.

depends on how much you are selling them for...... clone price or authentic price
Hmmmm.
So maybe the Breakdown is in the Enforcement of "Intellectual Properties" Rights in China perhaps?
But people want the logos and exact design, or they would just buy generic China mods. It costs more to make them with the engravings; if consumers didn't want them, the makers wouldn't spend the extra pennies to include them, or the 'original' packaging...
Not exactly. America would enforce international trademark/patent/copyright infringement, even in cases where China turns a blind eye (which they would be likely to do). The break down stems from the authentic modders completely failing to take the necessary steps to use the international systems in place for just such a thing.
But Steve, Isn't putting someone Else's logo on your Product is Illegal in just about Every Country in the World?.
Just curious with all the uproar over counterfeit products in this industry, why so many vapers knowingly buy clones?
Seems counterproductive to me...?
If Apple, the movie and recording industries haven't been able to successfully fight trademark or copyright infringements, what makes you believe mod makers can? Who has more money than Apple?
It is already a given that China has the big advantage. They can do volume with little cost. I don't think any other country can beat their big and cheap workforce. They can actually wipe out any competition they have because all they need to do is buy a product, reverse engineer and sell it cheap. Doesn't that scare anyone? People say they have to fight Big Tobacco, how is Big China any different. They too are in it for the money. I actually met a guy in Hong Kong who's family makes buttons for what he calls "Levi's Class A Copies" and drives a Ferrari.

@zoidman what role does price play?
Price is number 1, numero uno, ...
Your arguments are getting weaker as you go. Yes we want the design....i said that in the beginning. What do you think form factor means? As far as logos go, no, most of us don't give a rats behind about logos. My favorite mod, my all day device, is a clone, and not a logo to be found.
The long and short of it is, these devices are not protected intellectual property, and about 99% of the logos aren't trademarked, so again not protected. Therefore no laws were broken in reproducing them. If these modders would take the time to do so, China would have to change their game to sell in America. As it is, what they are doing is legal, so of course they will include the logos in their clones, since that adds to the recognition factor of the device. I would be just as happy if modders would start trademarking their logos, and they disappeared on clones, but that's about the most that could be hoped for, since most of these mods wouldn't qualify for patent, being that the main differences between them all is aesthetic or material use
Now here's a man that is talking about the root cause of the problem.....finally.
Our Government is worried about us vaping while China floods our country with goods that most feel are substandard or a rip off. They are allowed to do it without balanced trade. Our dollars flow back to China, largest holder of American major metropolitan properties. If our trade agreement was dollar for dollar (really Yuan) then both economies could flourish or they couldn't flood our country with their products because of the lack of balance.
You guys should stop yammering about this crap. If you were to spend as much energy in our personal rights in stead of sitting on the sidelines .....ing about clones we wouldn't be talking about our vaping rights. We would have already won. All the Anti's most love coming to this site and watching us fight about useless BS while they slowly fight to take away our rights.
People are cheap and simply don't care... The products wouldn't be here if people didn'tbuySell them...

I'll go out on a limb to answer this thread's subject question:
"To save a lot of money."
That's ~90% true. The other ~10% is to get hold of (a perhaps inferior version of) a hard to find product.
Never Said that a Person who wants to make a Product can Stop Clones from being made.
But that Doesn't seem to change the Question of whether or Not Making and Selling Clones is Right.
BTW - Wouldn't a Hosting Government have to play some Role in Preventing Clones from being Made/Exported?
