For mods, I like buying harder to find, low production stuff that you just dont see alot of. They have to be single 18650's, small , light and not to fancy looking. I dont need them, but enjoy the chase and eventually if I tire, I can sell. For rtas its different, as I dont particularly buy for looks, but performance. I'm constantly thinking this next one could be that game changer that's miles ahead, but generally is not. Honestly though, I can bring out my 2012 gear (a genesis & mech) and it performs just as good as my new stuff.

I met an anomoly at work yesterday. He bought a Vuse vibe 2 years ago and that's what he stuck with. He said he tried those fancy gizmos but his little pen does the trick. He stopped smoking the day he began vaping he said. I asked him why he stopped smoking and he replied "two reasons, they kept taking my lighter at airports and I got tired of having to smoke only outdoors at work, hotels and at friends houses". He stealth vaped the whole time I was in his office.

He's an IT guy (at my work) who had 5 screens all doing something different at once while setting up my new laptop at the same time. Yet that simple pen device makes him happy. The irony.

Actually I started vaping because of the going outside to smoke thing. I only expected to use it for that, so I was pretty pleased when I quit smoking entirely. And hey, whatever device gets you there is good.

I have asked myself at least 100 times why I have this uncontrollable need to keep buying more mods..Sometimes it’s because of tech upgrades, but mostly just because I see and I love ! Anyone else want to try and help me figure out this obsession ?

I prefer, "Why not?"

 :vapor:

Smoking a carton a week where I live cost $3,000 a year then all of a sudden I'm not spending that money any more. That situation happens to plenty of smokers and some of them use the money to become vape gear collectors. It didn't happen to me. In the past 4 years I've spent may be $800 on a stockpile of mods, atomizers and nic that will last 10 years, may be twenty, depending on shelf life. (Currently I'm vaping nic bought 4 years ago and stored in my freezer. It's as good as new.)

You're not alone. Perhaps, becoming a part of this thread will make you feel right at home. :D Reading the first 3,220 pages is not a requirement, but may definitely enlighten you.

Definitely some very good input here !! I’ve been watching the shinyitis for years now, even get emails when there are updates..haha
The thing that baffles me is I must have many mods, many tanks, and many juice flavors to go between. When I travel I have a special bag dedicated just to my vape gear, because I cannot be stuck somewhere with only 1 or 2 !! However my husband has 1 mod, 1 flavor...I guess this is good considering my addiction, but agree with everyone I would rather collect these than go back to the “Ickes” any day ! Just thought I’d get some opinions regarding this absolute need to buy new stuff all the time, it makes me happy  I haven’t added any squonkers yet, I had one of the older ones that didn’t have VV/VW but can’t decide on a new one..perhaps that shall be my next quest !

The IT guy is exactly like my husband!! He has multiple monitors, 3D printers but only 1 mod, 1 juice.. confuses me.

I think that my path in vaping and doing DIY from the start over six years ago has been a progressive one. I was vaping the gear and joose that seemed to work for me at the moment, but was always looking for something that worked even better for my style and personal tastes. Some of the gear at the time seemed reasonable, but turned out to make no sense at all when they didn't work at all for my style. Most of it has not even been used. They are a large part of the reason I have enough gear to outfit an army. When I did find gear that I thought would work well for me "at the moment" and gear that did in fact work well for me I bought up a bunch of it while it was still available. Squonking won me over in mid 2014. I got lead astray with using TC mods as well for a time, but the 37 Reos are what lead the way to a bunch of regulated squonk mods as well. Around a year and a half ago I finally found the top gear for the squonk mods I had been looking for and I have bought a bunch of them. I am enjoying vaping more with this gear than any gear that came before them, and like the gear combo's so much that nothing else has caught my eye since. I have way more than enough of this gear to see me to the end of my trail, so I'm 99 that my Shinyitis days are all but if not finally over.

Might I ask which squonkers you like most now ?

Mech Squonk Mods...
Reos Mods (I still have 35, but especially like the P67's) and Defiant Designs Driptech-DS.

My DT-DS is an OG from 528 Custom Vape, but AFAIK Defiant still offers them. They are dual parallel battery mods.

Regulated Squonk...
Dovpo Topsides, Eleaf Pico Squeeze 2's, Sigelei Fuchai

Some Squonk threads for you @figment_oyi.

Squonk Porn!
New squonkers

I as others have a Lost Vape Drone BF DNA250C at my disposal, but there's so many to choose from. Both regulated and mechanical, depending upon your preference.

If I had a windfall, I'd have a hard time not justifying buying 1 or more Vicious Ant Spade 21700's with the YiHi SX485J chipset (same chipset SL Class uses). As it's a decent chipset and a decent size for carrying and using, I just have an issue with the price.
