Good luck with the change, Russell. At least they won't be walking all over you!

...she's eating well today. Maybe it's the "nurse" feeding her. A nice Christmas Eve if for no other reason.

You guys are the only ones I even feel comfortable sharing these things with. Love you all.

What a loving and touching photo! <must be my allergy actin' up>

And we feel comfortable in loving you and yours!

I think I've got an hour while Miles sleeps and everybody is off doing whatever. So, here's the recipe for the Dobos Torte.

Batter
7 eggs
1/2 C sugar
1 C flour
pinch of salt
1t baking powder

Beat 1 eggs & 6 yolks with sugar till sugar melts (5-10 minutes)
Blend in flour
Beat egg 6 egg whites & salt till stiff.
Fold in yolk mixture.

Grease and flour the bottom side of cake pans. Spread batter (always scoop from the bottom) on the floured pans 1/8" about thick.
Bake at 350 degrees till edges start to turn golden - about 3 minutes
Carefully remove the cake layers to cake rack to cool.
Clean pans and re-grease and flour and repeat until batter is used up. (a generous coating of Bakers Joy works, but still has to be wiped clean before spreading on a new layer of batter)
Spread layers out and cover with wax paper if you're going to do the filling on day 2.

Filling
3 C 10X sugar
1 C softened butter
1 t almond extract
2 t strong coffee
1 t cocoa
1-2 T whipping cream

Whip until light and fluffy

Candy topping
Put 1-1/2 C sugar in a small heavy pot and put the pot on medium heat until the sugar melts. It'll take awhile. Don't stir until the most of the center section has melted. As soon as it's all melted and golden brown pour over the top layer.

Assemble the Cake
Spread a thin layer (1/8-1/4") of filling between each layer of cake until you have 9-12 layers. Save the best looking layer for the top. Trim the outside of the cake with a serrated knife if necessary. Add 1 t of cocoa to leftover filling and coat the sides of the cake.

Put the best looking top layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and spread the Candy topping on the layer to cover. Work quickly because this will harden very fast (and it's very hot so be careful).
Heat a knife to almost glowing and score the candy layer into 16 sections (where you'll be cutting the cake layers later.
Put the candy top layer on the cake and touch up the filling/icing where necessary.

We usually make the layers one day and assemble the next day. It helps to have 2 people making the cake layers.

Ya ever seen a grown oldbroad walking thru a huge store with tears flowing?!!!
wow, what an amazing story!!

Yep, this is the best we can do.......and, that's not bad!!!

Love this!!!

She came outside in her PJs and her mom told her she had to get dressed to ride the pony. 2 minutes later she was back out with her cowboy boots on with her PJs and a jacket. You just can't stop a determined 6-year-old.
awwwwwwww that's so sweet! When I was a kid I had a small walk-in closet with a window next to it. Couldn't understand why dad wouldn't let me cut the door in half so the top opened while the bottom stayed closed, and keep a horse in there, he could look out the window after!!

Finally!

didn't read the comments, but loved this!!

She used to make Russian black bread.....no recipe on the internet comes close. She didn't use wholewheat flour, but the bread was very, very dark.....nearly black. In addition, she used some kind of tiny black seeds that added a pungent flavor. I've ordered more kinds of tiny, flat black seeds from specialty spice places in my efforts......none of them come close, nor do any of the recipes....:(
dunno if it was russian black bread or not, but Pepperidge Farm used to make a black rye bread when I was a kid. Loved that stuff. Got made fun of sometimes when it was in my lunch at school, but oh well. It was soooooo good and black as black could be.

Grrrr what is going on with using the colors? ^^^^^^^^
Is this a formatting issue?
Never had it happen before.
Howdy CB!

Happy Birthday, Classy! Amazing co-workers got e-juice for you. Special sort of folks there. 'Course who'd expect you'd be associated with any less!:party:
Good to see ya Willieg!!

Well I am tryign to be a happier person after my wife told me I neede to see a shrink. I went on a rampage the other night and all I could think about was I would be better off for everyone if I just died. Last night I prayed for God to help me be happy with my life and what I have left and try to make others happier around me. I don't usually pray for me but got to thinking about it and thought it was time.
(((((((((legs))))))))) As Kenna said......God uses you when you don't even realize it hun. We all need to have those meltdowns once in awhile. Hope you're feeling better now, and stay warm and safe with all that snow! Loved that your plumber was willing to come shovel it for ya!

Joy? all I have known back to my farthest memory was depression. Some brief bit of happiness, but mostly just existing.
Robert, I don't even know what to say, except that there was a time I went through much the same. Then as our birdy said, I began making myself find one thing a day to be truly grateful for. It really changed my perspective. In the beginning I remember only being able to be truly grateful for things like flush toilets, hot showers, and that I could buy a pkg of chicken to cook rather than having to chase it, kill it and pluck it. But the more I sincerely gave thanks for those things, and focused on something positive, the more things I found to be grateful for. You've been in my prayers!

Woo HOO!! Last night here.....then HOME!!! We actually had sunshine today and the birds flew all day long, BUT, nothing broke.......a hearty testament to our fine mechanics! And, of course, I'm thinking the pilots took my words to heart last night. :D We have THE BEST helo pilots on the Gulf Coast!!
wahoooooo!!! So glad you're home now!! Hope you get some great rest!!

So glad you have something to go to, and that you were given good warning. Hope you like it in furniture!

Her mom isn't eating well but, she's eating well today. Maybe it's the "nurse" feeding her. A nice Christmas Eve if for no other reason.
(((((((Matt and Dorree)))))) I know that's so difficult hun. Continued prayers.

Today I received an Eleaf IstickTC60W mod I bought from the classifieds. I think I'm really going to like it. Based on the smaller watts on the others I have I pretty much know I'm going to like it. I do have a question please: Eleaf recommends a Sony battery. I thought AW IMR was the preferred battery for anything that needs one.??

Used to be. Not so much anymore. Mainly they are recommending a battery that can stand the max amp draw of the device. The Sony is a good battery. So are some Samsungs and even some Efest. If AW has a battery with the same amp draw, MaH, and other characteristics of the Sony feel free amd comfortable using it. Amp draw is the important specification here.
