Never heard of them. I will do some checking around. Here the shelter only gives animals 24 hours. Most of the animals they get are abandoned semi ferals or former fighting dogs. I keep going and looking at the dogs and cats. None of them has picked me yet in a way that says this is the one.
That kind of a place is really stressful on a dog and it's hard to really tell what a dog is thinking when they are in that kind of situation. You can find good dogs there too but it's really hard. The dog doesn't get a fair shake in there livin on a concrete floor with 50 other dogs barking and people walking by but no attention. For me those places are depressing.

I sm sooooo relieved. It sounds like a great home after all. I guess it's an occupational hazard for me to always think the worst because so often at my job that's what we saw.

I should have asked about his home situation before I assumed the worst.
I understand completely I thought the same thing till I heard all the circumstances. Sometimes I feel sorry for Alyssa's dogs but they have the run of the house and she leaves the animal channel on for them and with her 1 hour lunch she spends 20 min each way to go home and let them out, give them something to eat and grabs some fast food or if she made something for herself the night before grabs that and back to work. She is working on getting a pet door and has a security system that is set so that Vick the bigger of the 2 dogs won't set it off. She can't leave them outside, too hot still and besides that Vick has her chair and Nacho has the couch.

While my friend (Geordi's breeder) is at the hospital with her husband, I am driving over in the afternoon (20 miles, no problem) and letting her dogs out and making sure all is well. I am just thankful I am home, and will be except for a few days, to do this.

Well good news. Alyssa found the owner of the doggie.
Yeah...

Have you ever seen these places that only find homes for Senior pets.

Last week I discovered dat da private animal shelter 'bout mile from here has an awesome deal fer senior citizens. A person 60 or older can adopt a dog or cat over six years old fer $6; normally $60! Brilliant idea in more ways than one...

You can get it almost anywhere except my MIL's place.

Some may consider dat a benefit.

I think this one will go another season for sure. It is really good you guys that like dirty lawyers, good lawyers big cases. Dirty lawyer on the bad guys side. it is one you won't be able to stop.
I enjoyed it, watched the whole season a few days ago. I barely recognized Dwight Yoakam... ;)

They pretty much wrapped the story up in that one season, though I can see where they could have room to take a couple of the main characters and expand into another season......:)

Political discussions are for the Outside Forum - not The Lounge.
But yur a sweetheart bad guy!

Well good news. Alyssa found the owner of the doggie. She lives 2 houses down and has been working 16 hour days. She just got her 2 weeks ago and hasn't had a chance to update the chip, so Alyssa is taking her home after work. Good thing the ladies friend saw Alyssas notice with pic in FB and told her and she messaged her. Glad she was a good enough person not to take her to the pound. Her Goofball doggie will be much happier now. So that all worked itself out.

So happy that they were reunited, and Peanut has a good home!! Perfect name for her. I always called my son peanut, and still do sometimes. And so kewl that Peanut is my favorite Jeff Dunham character.

Hope it's not T Mobile. Unlimited data when you can find a signal. Had some family that got that and it was terrible. Verizon is the best IMO and AT&T next.
It is T mobile, but I can see why y'all don't get good coverage with them. Looked at a map here, much of the west coast doesn't. Tx is covered great and friends who have it say they get great service!

In all of our voting lives we have never seen such a distasteful "choice"; we decided we'll vote with the Supreme Court choices in mind.
And then take hot showers.
Welcome to the porch!! I see Russell beat me to it, but I was wondering if you're wife is on ECF and hoping her screen name isn't Hearse Elf. :D Seems like you'll fit in just fine among us certifiably insane upstanding individuals

I feel an even number SCOTUS is anathema to true justice.
Completely agree! This is the part that worries me the most.

Evybuddy siddown! Sumbuddy'z steeelin' esses!!!
laugh rofl o is rollin.gif

Hope ya caught the thievin varmint!!!

My Doc long ago suggested I get a dog. For socialization, getting out of the house, exercise and companionship reasons. I just don't think I would do very well training one (I am not dominant enough)and the hubby can't. I darn sure do not have the energy for puppy. I also do not know jack about dogs or taking care of them. I've always been a cat person. AN already loving well behaved pooch was VERY tempting. It is for the best she found her human though. :)
I always had dogs growing up and in my adult life whenever I could. But it's been a very long time since we've had a dog. My son unfortunately had never had one, since we always lived in apts or places where we couldn't have one. He'll be 32 the end of this month, so it's been right around 35 years since I've had a dog. omgggggg Myrany. I had kinda forgotten just how wonderful it is to have a dog lying beside you, bury yur face in their fur. Just to be able to pet them while watching tv etc. Such a calming effect. Just gives you so much joy and peace. Of course you know I'm a dog person and not a cat person, so you may get that from your cats. I hear some of them actually let you pet them when you want to :p
An older rescue dog would be great for you and for the dog, but you may also even want to check into a therapy dog. Your hubby should definitely qualify, and while they do have jobs, they're also loving pets. Not sure if he has any emotional issues, anxiety depression etc, but one trained for that could help you both!

roflmao!!! Loved the part about cookie monster being sad. Who knew Siri had a sense of humor. and Gary, that's what you git for assuming!! :p

Consider getting a small to medium mixed breed dog - in the vet business we always say that they tend to inherit all the best traits of all the breeds in them and we saw those mixed breeds for problems a lot less than pure breeds. On the other hand getting a pure breed allows you to know what personality your dog will have.
JUP!!! Cept of course even pure breeds have different personalities, but they're more alike than mixed. But yeah pure breeds often have a lot more medical issues and problems cuz the breeding stock isn't varied enough.

that is so wonderful you're able and of course willing to help her out. I know it is a load off her mind to know they are well cared for by someone she trusts implicitly. hope she is better and home very soon! How's she doing?

True Siri story from the hubby.

One day he was trying to get Siri to play a specific Audible file and it kept messing up and saying "I am sorry I can't do that." I was in the side room and I kept hearing that over and over.

Finally the hubby lost patience and when Siri said "I am sorry I can't do that" again he yelled "That's because you are STUPID!"

Siri came back with "After all I have done for you?"

I about died laughing.

Alyssa's dogs are lucky to have such a good mom. And having two dogs they give each other company. So nice for both of them :)

That's a nice looking gadget ... with a bunch of add-ons already ... let me know how you like it. Our son's on a tight budget after buying their 1st house. They don't have any cable/FIOS TV service, trying to save money. Something like this might benefit him 'till they re-bound a bit money wise.
It's quite nice. All the latest programming is there (from Green Arrow to NOVA), as well as many classics.you might find new shows a day or two after being aired on pay tv, but if you are paying $100/month I suppose you should be able to see things first ;)
It won't get AMAZON, but it seems to have more content that ROKU.
Biggest negative is when you are streaming, there can be long pauses of the video, but it's really a minor issue and you can usually find another stream source that's better

It's not her that's sick, it's her husband. Yesterday they put in a permanent shunt. Don't know how he will be when he heals. They have to tie him to the bed because he gets violent and tries to pull out tubes and monitors. She is worried when she is at work he will let all the dogs out and there will be a big fight with injuries, including him. So many questions and unknowns. I am glad I can help however I can. I would take one of her dogs temporarily, but with the business and travel, no can do. I will help with anything I can though!

Thanks ken. I'm still playing around w/ Kodi on my Mac. I wish I could find a way to switch from the Kodi app back to my desk top though w/o quitting Kodi. Kodi 'likes' to have full control. When I find something I want to watch, I have to quit Kodi, switch my screen output to the TV, the start Kodi again and find the show I want to watch.

that's right. When you were talkin about her, I couldn't remember for sure, but thought it was a man I had prayed for before. Now I remember. I'm having a super bad brain day today. Even had to really think hard for a bit to figure out what to put in my coffee and how. Wish I could help. I have the time.......just can't afford to get down there.

I think itz forward slash. (/) Puts it in a window so you can just minimize it if you wish. And if u think it doesn't have amazon stuff... u didn't find the right addon yet. ;)
