Welcome to the porch!! I see Russell beat me to it, but I was wondering if you're wife is on ECF and hoping her screen name isn't Hearse Elf. :D Seems like you'll fit in just fine among us certifiably insane upstanding individuals

Completely agree! This is the part that worries me the most.

LOL! Thank you!

The more money I have to spend replacing wrecked drones, the less money I have to spend on drones.

I did this video while at my brother's house in Marietta. A coupla Porchers saw it when I posted it to FB. My mom didn't have any normal children, which my brother illustrated by asking me to edit out the parts of the video that showed him.

That was a good one! Love the house on the river! Very jealous!

Well good news. Alyssa found the owner of the doggie. She lives 2 houses down and has been working 16 hour days. She just got her 2 weeks ago and hasn't had a chance to update the chip, so Alyssa is taking her home after work. Good thing the ladies friend saw Alyssas notice with pic in FB and told her and she messaged her. Glad she was a good enough person not to take her to the pound. Her Goofball doggie will be much happier now. So that all worked itself out.
Yippeeeeee!!

Love the matching markings above his eyes and on his ears. Beautiful dog.
He's a funny little dog, he looks like that but has short legs weighs 35 lbs, loves the dog park when theres no rufians the big dog side is his favorite, he thinks hes a big dog. Funny too big for the little dog side too little for the big dog side. This is his best bud

Not too new to either, first tried to quit smoking with an ego-t (that I read about on ECF). I've lurked ECF for quite a while, and finally was compelled to join.

It's a great group of people, and I'm glad to be here. I'm especially glad to be here without a cigarette :)

Hi there Mice Elf, glad to meet ya!

These older dogs have the hardest time finding a new home but an older adult should be a good fit because it will be past the puppy energy.

I would suggest contacting a rescue group rather than the shelter because good rescue groups do a really good job matching humans and pets. They will ask a lot of questions, may even want to do a home inspection because they want to make sure the dog will have a good home.

Rescues dont get any funding from anywhere, they pay for everything themselves and have a lot of time and love in these dogs so they really care.

Consider getting a small to medium mixed breed dog - in the vet business we always say that they tend to inherit all the best traits of all the breeds in them and we saw those mixed breeds for problems a lot less than pure breeds. On the other hand getting a pure breed allows you to know what personality your dog will have.

Edit: one more thing I thought of. Good rescue groups make sure their dogs are well socialized and are potty trained before they adopt them out and that makes all the worl of difference in how it works out for the new owners.

Every pet I've had the pleasure of giving a home has been a rescue!! My wife and I are currently down to 1 dog and 3 cats, down from a max of 3 dogs and 7 cats!! The 2 dogs we had before this one had seizure issues but we kept them medicated and as comfortable as possible through 13 years. The both passed witching 6 months of one another and it was devastating for both of us. It took almost 2 years before I even entertained the thought of another dog!! Our little joy now, Sweet Maple Moon, my avitar pic will be three this month! She is some sort of boarder collie mix (whatever jumped over the fence last) and is way too smart for us!!

Rescue groups are the best!!

beautiful Aussie shepherd in your avi! Boy/girl? name? we need doggy deets!!! lol
He's a boy and his name is Bodhi. He came from a ranching family south of us in San Luis Obispo. Ironically, he was the ugliest puppy I've ever seen; when I brought him home my wife took one look and said, "Are you sure he's pure Aussie?". :( She was not a fan. Of course, being a very smart dog, he cried that night until my wife got up and held him. He snuggled under her neck and promptly fell asleep.:hubba: He was immediately elevated to "The Most Perfect Dog in the World" status. Come to think of it, she kept me for pretty much the same reason...

awwwwwww she's precious! But oh yeah, y'all have yur hands full with even a part border collie........they're absolutely one of the smartest dog breeds. And wanna stay busy. If you don't give her work to do and keep her occupied, you won't like what she'll find to do to amuse herself. lol
