Note that they now make new Kr808d1 batteries with a new microcircuit, these are 3.3volts and last longer. The same new 2.6ohm cartos work on them.

The reason they made some high resistance 3 ohm cartos is because a lot of people still have the older 3.7volt k3808d1s, but if you get the 2.6 ohm ones, they will work on the new batteries.

Have been using 510 batts and recently tried a kr8 batt and it had a noticeably better hit. Now they are dumbing down the voltage, why?

Well you really don't need high voltage with these good coils, lots of people use the 3.7volt ones, I do myself, but with the old filler-type cartos at 2.6 ohms they would get too hot that a drip tip was necessary and malfunction. Now even a few (or maybe a couple) people said that the vapor was still hot on the 510 voltage (but not with the 3ohm 808d carto at the lower 3.3volts, to the best of my knowledge)!

The lower the voltage the longer your battery can last for the same size ecig. Why would people want a 4 to 5 volt battery that takes up too much space and can't maintain its top voltage very long, when they could use a 2.6 to 3.4 volt ecig that does not take a lot of space and can far outlast its high voltage counterpart? And these new CE2s are some serious vapor producers consistently, I have not had to gamble as to whether or not I would see any vapor at every puff anymore (unless it had to do with low liquid supply).

You can still get the 3.7batts, what they do is they also make 3ohm cartos (in addition to the 2.6ohm).

Therefore now there is versatility and people can choose from the best of the six combinations (the best of 6 worlds):

3.7v batt......2.6 ohm carto
3.7v batt......3ohm carto
3.3v batt......2.6 ohm carto
3.3v batt......3 ohm carto

... i would like to try the latest and greatest as well and not have to order twice since this order will be for over 500 cartos easy.

(scratched this post. sorry)
I was trying to say to look at the royal smokers site for big shipments, but I think we would have to order about 21Kg and I don't know how many cartos that would be, maybe 800?
But it would be about $3.78 per 5-pack delivered (?)

Just got my CE2 carto's from RS. (KR808 ones)

They have two holes, are they the revised ones?

I'm too lazy to take a picture but these have a "Produced" date of 6/16/2010 on the package so I'd assume they are the older version. Concerning the wick touching the coil, that's not an issue as all atomizers (not carto's) are made that way. The wick doesn't burn, it just gets gunked up after a while. I thought I read a while back that the wick was made of fiberglass?

K24A3,

Have you tested the ohm rating on yours? Just wondering if you got the 2.6 or 3.0 variety...

Funny how some are mentioning a "chemical" taste as of late. The 510's I have here shipped from e-liquid.cn on the 19th and they don't have any sort of chemical or burnt taste. Makes me wonder if they added some new substance to the mfg process.

The coil wrapped around the wick actually works pretty well. I've cleaned and dry burned one of mine twice now and the wick is still in good shape. No taste problems either but I'm running them at a lower voltage.

I have a multimeter, how do u test the ohms?

I set it to 200 ohms, it says 2.6 - 2.7

That's the lower ohm version. They have a second 3.0 ohm version of the 808D-1 that's supposed to perform better at 3.7v, but I don't think anyone has them yet.

Looking at your pics I'd say it looks like you have a later version. The "chemical" taste deal is very troubling, though...

Thanks.

The date is 2010 06 16

Are they the originals?

If the date on the box is the actual mfg date then you don't have the latest version (as far as I know).

Have you taken apart one that tastes burnt to see if the plastic cup inside is melting? If it's a plastic taste it would have to be either that or the bottom of the inner cap.

Nav or badkolo (can't remember which one) mentioned something about a taste they had to "vape through" to get rid of... like a priming fluid or something. Could that be what you're getting a taste of?
