Alas, poor CE2 510 #1 I knew ye well. *sniff*

Took cleaning #3 a bit too far I guess. Carto #1 went out in a blaze of glory during an extended dry-burn. He is survived by 119 brothers and 30 sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that mourners become supporting members of ECF to promote the future development of safe and effective vaping accessories.
RIP #1
Do you know what color it was when it croaked? Bright orange is usually OK. If it gets white hot it's about to pop.

He was humming along at a nice, bright orange and then pfft! The wick was still a little dark and I went too far with it. My meter confirmed the result.

yeah i know, thats why im only ordering stainles steel form now on, i got blue and SS and i hate the stickers but the stainless steal is shiny and nice and its not like when you remove the sticker, these are much brighter and shiny.

they make painted versions with no stickers but you have to buy from royal smokers and thats a special order.

I just took whatever they had at VaporJunction and went with that. The drip tip pretty much solves the problem anyways...still, surprising they'd put a sticker on there like that.

He was only with us 8 short days, but his legacy lives on!

8 days is pretty good for a carto, especially after doing dry burns.

Did a cleaning and dry burn, rinse and re burn on mine today and am getting better flavor.

The coils seem very robust and I agree that these really have the potential to be a game changer for cartomizer users.

As a plus I am having to get out of the habit of using a primer puff when taking a drag, dont seem to need one with these.

I now have a use for my M401/402 batteries that I haven't used in 6 months - YAY

All the best, Happy Vaping,
Wing.

Can I ask, how are you rinsing these? Just holding them under water/soaking...or do you need to remove anything inside there?

pop out the outer cap, and inner cap if you can empty out any remainder juice, you can flick them empty, then i soaked them in hot water for 5 minutes then rinse cleaned, dried it up a bit and then dry burned it clean. refilled and ready to go.

Does the inner cap come out basically the same as the outer..ie: it's just set in there...not attached or seated somehow?

I've found that if I don't remove the inner cap the dry-burn takes longer. With the inner cap on I get a lot of moisture build-up from the rinse when I burn, and it's harder to see the entire coil to make sure it's getting orange all the way across. Hopefully they'll stop gluing these in on the new ones.

I agree about the coils.. they do seem to be very robust.

Take it slow removing the inner cap, there seems to be a small amount of glue between the cap and the atomizer cup. I use a blunt syringe needle to gently work the inner cap out of the tube.

it depends, most 3 holed ones pop out, use something to tilt it upwards and pop it out, but be careful becuase on some they have a little glue holding them onto the cup, sometimes you can pry it off the glue with a little play and on a few you can ruin them if you pull out the cup along with the inner cap.

but i am able to get the inner cap out 98% of the time with no issues.

Very true, i didn't mention that I removed the inner cap to drain any remaining juice and to see the coil properly while dry burning.
Thanks for pointing that detail out for others to know how to do properly.

The new pwople mentioning the strange taste...
Could this be nothing more than the dry taste? It IS after all, a new taste to me,
and if they're using the ones dated prior to the 7/21/10 shipment, they might have to use Dekang or Ecopure also.

I wonder if they also dropped a drop or two on the coil just before using it in the beginning?

its either the dry taste because of the tight coil or its glue thats around the cup melting into the juice and causing that taste which is why it goes away sometimes, do a 5 minute hot water soak on those and a dry burn afterwards and see if the taste is gone.

the glue issue has also been addressed for newest revision
