That is quite the list....makes me really consider moving to unflavored juice.

Yup, I hear ya :). And you know, nothing in that list may be bad for us.

The point I was making is that having ingredients listed may not be all that good for us. What is important is that we are not inhaling anything bad. Regulations that would keep us safe are great IMO. The proposed FDA regs would decimate vaping in the US and that is not good for anyone.

When did vaping become the mantra of quitting smoking?? If someone wants to quit they will they don't need to vape to do so and most probably wouldn't want to do so unless they thought there was at least some consumer protections to the products they are using. There's a lot of people who think vaping is safe or safer but that's not the case. We just don't know. But we do know that letting anyone sell whatever they want for human ingestion is very dangerous. Someone makeing even an honest mistake while mixing at home may harm themselves and others by simply not understanding what they are doing or by purchasing sub standard ingredients that they may be mislead into buying.

Very dangerous? No "WE" do not know that. That is your assumption and a very flawed one in my opinion.

Yeah, guaranteed no one would ever get ice in a restaurant again if they saw what the inside of some of those ice machines looked like.

i used to work in a banquet hall and we filled people's waters from the handwash sink. we didnt have a purified water spout. even though we took in about 25,000 dollars a week.

and as far as i know nobody ever got sick. so i think home labs should be alright. as long as nobody is ...... in the juice or anything, you know.

Personnaly I DIY my e-juices and have switched to unflavored since I viewing this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOBDm8tSUEU&app=desktop

FYI the warnings about natural organic flavors comes at 1:36:00 or shortly after in the link of the Vapingreek's interview with Doc Kurt Kistler .

Many here may find my reaction as an over-reaction but I choose to prevent food ingredient that could rot in my lungs. Artificial flavors is probably the future of vaping. But to make sure, the list of ingredients must be listed on e-juice containers.

As far as regulations, as bad as they will be, we have to be realistic, they are coming due to the free for all that is now going on in the vaping industry. Let's hope they protect consumers without too much of a punitive tax. But that's probably wishful thinking....

P.S.: I sometimes cheat in my DIY and add a bit of menthol....

That's why we have the FDA remember??

And they're doing such a BANG-UP job, there's CHANTIX! As if quitting smoking didn't make you feel suicidal enough... now there's a pill that will make you feel even moreso! Gee, what a GREAT job the FDA is doing... for Big Evil Pharma!

I have no idea how that fits into this thread but no one is making you take any pill. But yes medications often have side effects and come with printed warning giving someone disclosure of possible side effects. Yet you want some person in a basement mixing e liquid and selling it with no obligation to list what's in it or even a warning of possible effects? Now that's crazy.

I had a heated debate this week with a local vendor who makes his juice that he sells in his "lab" which is just his living room. I tried to explain to him that his living room is NOT a sterile lab....and that the possiblilties for contamination are rampant. Air born pathogens, dust, dirt etc can easily get into this juice and then be inhaled (vaped)

I further explained that the need to sterile work space with stainless steel counters, sterile containers etc are a MUST.

I find it rather disgusting, although not surprising, that so many "juice makers" are popping up everywhere making juice in their homes and selling to unwitting newbies and even experienced vapers alike. Now with all this talk of Diacetyl (see Suicide Bunny for example) being found in our juices....and no disclosure from these guys...it's alarming to say the least.

We all quite smoking because we didn't want to die...slowly and painfully. Without any type of regulation we are at the mercy of these juice makers and their word about their products.

I personally will only buy juice from trusted vendors with test results to show that their juices are clean. I also always ask to see their labs. Any vendor who refuses to show me their lab and test results are discarded immediately.

am I alone here?

I can only hope you never see what goes on inside some restaurants, where sanitation is even more important than it is with e-juice where both PG and VG have antimicrobial properties and the heated coil should get everything else. Don't get me wrong, you have a valid point, but I think you'd be sick to your stomach if you peered inside the food industry.

Stealing my recipe? Jeez. How am I supposed to sell my super awesome e-liquid now that I mixed at my coffee table next to my doctor pepper and my cat? :p

I just watched the video you linked to. Interesting stuff. I've been doing unflavored w/ menthol for a little over 2 years now, just for the simple fact that flavors are the 1 ACTUAL unknown in the vaping world. That and besides... Unflavored w/ menthol is actually a pretty great taste.

I've been rather concerned about these "gourmet" juices I vape on being made on someone's coffee table so read about the companies, Vaping Rabbit the gal had a hookah bar and an ice cream shop, and refers to a "lab" now, face book them, just an example but I'd sure like to see pictures of where they actually make the juice on FB or their website, but I'm rather "howard hughesish" or so my family/friend say..

being an educated consumer is our only hope until the FDA/Health Department or whatever govt entity will supposedly require standards for preparation AND enforce them.

but as several pointed out we have that in the food service industry and OMG! there's only a select few eateries I'll dine out at, js.

so ultimately it's up to us the consumer to drive those standards, email them, call them, demand accountability of where and what goes in the juice..:)

No you are not alone. Why I DIY.

All this garbage people say that "well you would have spent XX on cigarettes" or "Cigarettes were killing you why are you concerned" is quite frankly bull cockey. Like you said I switched for harm reduction/to eventually quit all together. I won't trade something that is unhealthy for a why do you care attitude.

I don't want regulation though. I want something similar to the Adrian Peterson deal. The team kept him  on playing time until the public, business, stepped up and pulled $s. The team now told him to stay home until the courts decide. It was self regulatory. BTW I hope he gets whats coming to him the piece of garbage.

I agree blue with a caveat or two...I am fairly certain that what I vape has far less dangerous chemicals than a cigarette. Having said that, I would like the choice of knowing my exact risks.

Still, the arguments along the lines of....the government allows a certain percentage of bug parts in your food....so.... is also valid.

Am I concerned with dust particles and other material particles one would find in their home? no

Would I like to know the chemical ingredients in the mix? Yes

I see these as two different concerns.

Vaping is healthier than smoking. I won't quit vaping but it would be nice to know the exact ingredients in flavors.

So I am not particularly fussed with home mixers but I would like to know what they are intentionally mixing in.

Not up to diy yet but I applaud those that do. Someday....

(sent from Mars, it's not as red as I imagined.)
