I live in Canada and ordered a 1000ft of Lightning Vapes wire from Florida a couple of weeks ago. The shipment was held at the border for much longer than usual.

I am assuming that the "vape" word made it worth a look. I only ordered wire so it was released after a few days, but the Canadian, U.S. and other big postal systems won't have much trouble intercepting vape shipments if they feel like putting in the effort. Sure, kilos of the other stuff do get past X-rays and dogs, but as a consumer, one seized shipment flags you (in Canada anyways) and the hassle moving forward isn't worth it. Every package inspected, stopped when physically crossing the border, etc.

This is why I am stocking up on the little stuff like glass tanks, o-rings, etc.

No I didn't clean them after use but did give it an alcohol wash not too long before, but used it then stored it. It is the old version that you could alcohol wash, they say don't do that with new versions. I need to spend some time on cleaning it up. I also checked a new Provari i just got and it has a tiny dark spot on connection so need to clean that off too.

Next time you make another Provape order (and I KNOW there will be a next time...) order a tube of the NO-OX grease and put a very light coat on all of your threads. You can get larger tubes of it on Amazon, but a little goes a long way, so I didn't think their price was that bad. I learned the hard way with a mini mag lite, so went with the NO-OX from the start on the Provaris.

I have used in the past heavy duty sewing machine oil on the threads.

So what do you think, is it worth shrink wrapping some mods to keep them fresh?? Will it keep the connections cleaner so they don't corrode ? Reason I ask is because my old Provari has been setting around in a box for years, been using dedicated batts for convience, and the connections have corroded. How many are shrink wrapping with those keep dry packets?

I have a pile of them I saved up from items shipped to me where they were included. I keep them in a Ziploc purged of air and pull one out when necessary. If you need them, Amazon has a bunch in different sizes, all under $10.

Check with your pharmacist. He could collect a pound of them in a month, depending on how much business they do.

I am expecting a PIF package today or tomorrow from a friend who is recovering from a severe case of shinyitis. He thinned out his herd. I have no idea what is in it, other than a couple of kayfuns.

Here is a good test of a mod laying around for years with no special treatment! I pulled out my original Provari mini, cleaned the contact, cleaned the threads, cleaned the spring. The display worked but could not get it it to fire. I pulled off the tank I had on it 1.7 ohm. Then I cleaned off the 510 contact, it was really dark, had to use the paper clip to scrap off burned on juice, then used an alcohol on Q tip for final cleaning of 510. Dug out a carto, and wah la, it fired up Carto I picked was pig sap, eek not my fav but still worth using for a test fire. Gotta love a Provari I have not used it in 3 1/2 yrs at least, I did have it in a plastic baggie but no good cleaning before storage. I am thrilled it is still working after my neglect to it! Will order the detox gold and no ox grease to take better care of my mods!

You can also use a pencil eraser to clean the positive battery contact on the board inside the tube. And/or swab with a Q-tip soaked in 91% or better 99% isopropyl alcohol, being careful to avoid soaking the board.

Originally it was recommended to use Noalox on the threads but that is for aluminium not SS. The latest recommendation is No-Ox-ID

Good to know! In the instruction manual it said a paper clip was ok, but will refrain from that in future. My eraser would not fit in the 510 area, but I did use it on the contact inside by the chip.

There is a lot of contradictory advice on this subject,. Which is why I carefully chose "forum consensus". I can't say a paperclip is wrong...

It might be a good idea to buy some spare springs for your Provari. While they are cheap and available. I've used a pencil to clean the spring end, and routinely stretch it a bit.

I was curious as to how long a provari would last, since I've only had mine since x-mas(bought for hubby but stole it). I'm so glad I drank tbe kool-aid and bought a provari!
