Killer mod! Thanks to everyone who contributed. I've been vaping rath juice (which I love btw) with my stock 510 for a couple of days now but it is so thick that it really makes my atty work extra hard. A couple of nights ago my atty got so hot it that scorched the stock batting in one of my carts! I had resorted to drip only for the rath juice but not anymore. With this mod the atty seems to run much cooler and no leaks to boot.

This being my first mod makes me very happy.

Just a quick suggestion: substitute the gold screen from a Mr. Coffee permanent coffe filter for the brass. There's less maintenance with gold - and it eliminates that fine verdigres taste from the brass.
I would avoid brass as well if possible. I just went down to my local smoke shop asked for stainless steel screens. Problem solved. Also keep in mind that screens come in a bunch of different sizes and thickness. For my (510) carts I bought the thinnest, smallest size screens I could find. This way it is easier to get two screens in to the right shape and installed into the tiny 510 cart.

BTW I get 12 stainless steel screens for a buck at Trails here in Phoenix if anyone is local and interested.

If anyone is worried about brass corrosion. An old sailors trick to clean brass is to soak it in cool-aid or even coke (I would use diet). It will clean the tarnish off the brass...

I have been using the ZFM on my 901's and it is working great. Only problem is filling is a PITA. Guess I will be stop by a smoke shop soon enough :)

Yep!! I'm sold!! My 510s are now set up with 2 screens for at the computer and 3 screens for my walking around rig. It's doubled my vapor production, increased flavor, removed the burnt taste and reduced the amount of liquid I'm using!! Tried this-n-that and had resolved to dripping when I decided to give one more Mod a go!!

Soooooooooo glad I did!!!!

WHOA!!!!!!

i just thought of something......what about using copper braid for 1/32 scale slotcars??????

look at fantasyworldhobbies.com for examples.

the copper braid is loose but none the less also conductive to electricity and heat.......i am gonna try this and let ya folks know. i am wondering if this is possibly the new concept with Janty's secret prototype cartridge.

Nice mod, just trying this for the first time this evening but using the coffee filter media mentioned earlier..but damn, that is not very user friendly..I have minimized the flooding as best as poss but I may have to run to the local "head shop" for the more flexible screens...first thoughts are promising and my priority is not having to remove elements to refill carts..so if all works out ill have these with my PTBs and Blue Foam plugs..Thanks for the mod

Have a look at the cart mod I use, it's made with a stainless steel coffee filter. Been using it for a month now, it works great and it's not that hard to make. I have pictures and doc at the bottom of the page.

WT/SQ YD=apprx 4 oz.). By Malden Mills. 100% Hi-wick polyester back adn 100% Hi-wick nylon face. Very soft feeling fabric. This fabric seems to be the most wicking fabric we have, a drop of water placed on the inside of the fabric almost instantly drew to the face side of the fabric and felt almost completely dry next to the skin.

Sounds like just what we need :)

Just an idea

Yes this mod is good. Great vapor, little to no flooding. I am using 3 brass pipe screens, my shop has stainless also if I need to switch. First one I made lasted 2 hours of constant vaporing. Best part is my atomizer doesn't get hot and I can hit non stop. As it dries out, if I hit a little harder, I can make it flow enough to get it going again. Once dry, the brass screens are just slightly moist. The only issues, I am using 901 carts and the 3 screens need to be trimmed just a bit because my carts have a ridge and the screen cone would not seat completly. I also used a pen to dimple the cone, vice the atty like I did on my first attempt!!!

Thank you for the reply...yes, i did see that prior to posting..however, as much as l would like to consider this a viable mod, its a lot of precision without a lot of support/success stories to support it..nonetheless, im working it and thanks for your efforts and assistance

Yes, I agree no one has yet to post any success or failure other then me and precision well it doesn’t have to be perfect just like this entire industry. And yes it isn’t that easy to make but once made correctly you never have to be pulled apart to fill or clean it. Filling it just drip into it and cleaning it just drop it into a shot glass of vodka over night. It does vape great though! And if anyone would post some sort of reply I would be more then happy to answer any questions.
