Not likely to be lead in the solder. Leaded solder for electronics has been phased out since 2006 to be compliant for international export, RoHS environmental standards. Most disturbing is the lead they used to join the 2 wires.....eeeek
The Hot Legs problem was addressed and the newer atomizer heads for the ViVi Nova 2.5 that I've gotten from CanVape all have Non-Resistance wire legs, so no burnt rubber seals. Also they appear to maybe be Spot Welded as opposed to solderedIsn't that the Vivi's resident problem that the whole thing is res wire, and therefore burns the silicone?!
The heads now have a white isolator jacked to help reduce coil shorts to the post, the jacket appears to be '3m Nextel' [Aluminaborosilicate] braided sleeving, a ceramic cloth tube, ..same as the center air posts in a Kanger Horizontal, only larger
With the new ViVi Nova 2.5 atomizer heads I have found they don't like to reach the 7+ Watts or 4.5+ Volts zone and will dry hit. Examining the 2.8Ω coils there's 'A Lot' of coil turns and it appears the center coil wic is being choked.
Very simple solution got them into the 8+ Watt and 5 Volt range. With a new dry coil, I took a short strand or 2 of silica wic and laid it on top of the coil and into the notches of the coil jacket leaving a little stub reaching out beyond the attie head into the tank zone. I use my angled dental pick to place the new piece of wic in there.
Love the Vivi Nova's now! Running 8-9 Watts on a eVolv dna variable Watt mod.
When I rebuild (waiting on supplies) I will be trying a higher gauge of wire for the coil to get less wraps to hopefully prevent the wic choking (like the HH357) and using multiple wic or a thicker wic or SS Mesh
Thanks matinc, they have a buy limit on the ss mesh, but the price was good and the shipping was cheap!Just noticed that JRcustomturnings have mesh,pre-rolled mesh and stuff for genesis in stock,in case of emergencies
