Most disturbing is the lead they used to join the 2 wires.....eeeek
Not likely to be lead in the solder. Leaded solder for electronics has been phased out since 2006 to be compliant for international export, RoHS environmental standards.

Isn't that the Vivi's resident problem that the whole thing is res wire, and therefore burns the silicone?!
The Hot Legs problem was addressed and the newer atomizer heads for the ViVi Nova 2.5 that I've gotten from CanVape all have Non-Resistance wire legs, so no burnt rubber seals. Also they appear to maybe be Spot Welded as opposed to soldered :) (will have to take another look at that with my glasses on) Spot welding would make sense, it's difficult to solder to resistance wire.

The heads now have a white isolator jacked to help reduce coil shorts to the post, the jacket appears to be '3m Nextel' [Aluminaborosilicate] braided sleeving, a ceramic cloth tube, ..same as the center air posts in a Kanger Horizontal, only larger

With the new ViVi Nova 2.5 atomizer heads I have found they don't like to reach the 7+ Watts or 4.5+ Volts zone and will dry hit. Examining the 2.8Ω coils there's 'A Lot' of coil turns and it appears the center coil wic is being choked.

Very simple solution got them into the 8+ Watt and 5 Volt range. With a new dry coil, I took a short strand or 2 of silica wic and laid it on top of the coil and into the notches of the coil jacket leaving a little stub reaching out beyond the attie head into the tank zone. I use my angled dental pick to place the new piece of wic in there.

Love the Vivi Nova's now! Running 8-9 Watts on a eVolv dna variable Watt mod.

When I rebuild (waiting on supplies) I will be trying a higher gauge of wire for the coil to get less wraps to hopefully prevent the wic choking (like the HH357) and using multiple wic or a thicker wic or SS Mesh

Just noticed that JRcustomturnings have mesh,pre-rolled mesh and stuff for genesis in stock,in case of emergencies
Thanks matinc, they have a buy limit on the ss mesh, but the price was good and the shipping was cheap!

I really don't see the need for no res wire with this tank, I was involved with a coop and have one of these coming to me really soon to test out......if that is the case though, I'm glad I only bought one. The wire is in close contact of the wick so the res wire can be made small enough to keep the ohms low enough I would think.

On the plus side of things though I did get on the list for an ngp 2 weeks ago so there is hope that it will happen in due time for anyone interested. Martinc, did you ever get notified about your ngp?

That looks like the biggest pain in the .... to get a coil on to

uh-oh...

Just found this out on Smok website, looks like they are using no res wire with the res wire for their new tanks...now that seriously bums me.

2012 new re-buildable coil and wick Smoktech Vivi Tank (Genesis like) re-buildable tank heating coil and wick 510 vivi tank - Product Picture From Shenzhen Smok Technology Co., Limited

Here's a quick look at that in a video by PBusardo unfortunately it's not very in depth at all. One of the commenters posted that litecigusa has this for $15.

I'm disappointed to see that review from pbusardo. I was hoping it would be a decent and affordable addition to the rebuildable market.
Its strange that he was getting the dry hits when the wick looked to be saturated. I wondered if the coil was wrapped too tight and was "choking" the wick? It would be interesting to see a review after a new coil and wick have been installed.

Well it was bound to be terrible, being the first mass produced and cheap rebuildable (that I know of). The vaping world seems to need at least a few attempts to get something working well.
I'm disappointed he didn't rebuild the coil and even try to get it working though.

...or wait for version 3.5?

Exactly.

Now, we're getting somewhere. ;)

I'm starting to feel a little tingle up my spine. I was looking at the Penelope but I think I would prefer to go with a mesh setup instead of a wick. I really need to get my hands on a mesh tank and test it with Geoffs Blend to see how it affects the flavour and wicking.

Hey Marti, got any spares I can "rent" off ya?

Is it me or is the site down? I was hoping to test out the functionality before going in for the "full experience". I keep ending up with stuff that doesn't work right.. and I don't want my foray into the rebuildables to start the same way. It's also the main reason I did not go in for the penelope. I've had nothing but disaster after disaster as far as wicks are concerned, and did not want to commit to another wick style system.
