Trouble is, the formerly smoking vapers all act intimidated around others and tend to vape when nobody is looking

I find most people still think it’s smoking. I still do a duck and hide vape when I’m around a bunch of people. Sounds silly I know, but I just want a quite vape without having to educate someone.

I really think the government has been prepping for it for some time. I base this on the fact that at my new job (a federally qualified check boxes for "underage vaper, vaped while pregnant. exposed to SECOND HAND VAPE" in their ASSESSMENTS.

You should all go to the CDC website, type in "vape" or even "Juul" and cower.

I mean, yeah, all federally qualified health centers are similar to a DEGREE but like some assessments are OLDER, and "exposed to second hand vape" is AWFULLY suspect. Yet, it is there....

I liken it to your toddler having a giant tantrum when you take away the electric screwdriver it used to take apart your dining room furniture only it's armed with ALL the money in the world and also has the Nuclear codes.

Winter is coming. You can take that literally if you don't want fear like ,"it's November already", or you can like, take it in a kind of "King Lear" fashion where like, kingdoms are ruined by the storm and etc.

I have done nothing all day as I planned. First day off in a month. I am feeling guilt. I blame the government.

Well, here's hoping your team does a duck and hide in about an hour! ;)
And I've been wondering every time I see your avatar: what's with the Packers colors on your logo?
That’s just so wrong...... and just for that I will get a better pic for ya!

I'm just hoping we're facing the Plainsmen we faced last time, instead of the Tigers the time before! And admit it...as much as you want to mess up our season, you'd like us to stop Alabama from another championship!

Not long ago there was a smoker in a smoking area and I was walking up to the store. A lady ahead of me gave the fake cough although even with my heightened nose (due to being a former smoker) I couldn't smell it and she said in the half hushed but loud enough for others to hear voice "Stinks". I double stepped to pass her and coughed going by her and said "That's some strong perfume" in the half hushed voice but loud enough for her to hear. The guy with her cracked up laughing. I could hear her giving him the riot act as I continued on double step.

I don't think anybody here would dispute that. What's under scrutiny is the assumption that anti tobacco strategies are responsible for that. They weren't for decades before vaping and then suddenly became very effective once vaping came along. Just a tad suspicious.

I have seen reduction in smoking little by little for a while now. Long before Han Lik re-introduced Herbert A Gilberts 1963 invention in 2001. Han had reinvented things with a sonic device but by 2004 had patented an atomizer similar to Mr Gilberts idea.

I saw smoking declining in the 1990's.

Sure, but the rate of decline had slowed substantially by the 1990s, and leveled off to almost nothing at around 20% by the mid 2000s. It only resumed declining at a substantial rate after vaping entered the scene:

My hunch is taking the "kid" flavors out of convenience stores and gas stations won't slow the kids down. I believe they will vape menthol and what ever else is offered because flavor is not the prime mover even if the kids say it is. The science is not there to prove flavors are the issue. The government proposes to run a population level experiment instead of taking the time to do proper science, risky. They made the same mistake with the food supply back in the 70's and today half the population is going to develop type 2 diabetes. Go Team!

I'm trying hard to hate the government today but I just remembered I have tomorrow off, and the husband's clock radio woke me at 3 a.m. today and once I am up, I am up.

So, I'm trying hard to like, hate the government, but it's been difficult. There is some irony involved in Veteran's day I mean, the non-military world gets a day off and like, I bet during every war, um, the soldiers weren't told to put down their armaments and whatnot and have a nice, restful day and not worry and whatnot, I don't think that is how it works.

It's also really hard to say "Thank you" to the Vets under these selfish circumstances. I'm going to have to work my way up to it today (hating the government, I mean, not thanking the vets, I have long ago come to realize that I'm a relatively self-centered person.) But, thank you Vets, may you vape long and prosper, etc.

I may stir up a hornets nest here but...

These kids aint doing anything we didn't do.
Ever heard the tune "smokin' in the boys room"?

I read a bunch of stuff last night and it seems a small company has turned into a couple billion dollar company almost overnight. And it seems as though they did the Joe Camel route and marketed the Juul to a younger crowd.

It also appears the youngsters now sing "juulin' in the boys room" as schools have banned the use of tobacco. They stealth vape in class too. Ya gotta hand it to those kids who have figured out how to do what we did 2018 style. Seriously. It seems the Juul is right darn good at being an electric cigarette. So instead of the kids in the locker room having a box of smokes rolled up in a shirt sleeve like James Dean they look like some kinda Bill Gates thing with a carpenter pencil looking flash drive that vapes.

Now the feds want to crack down on the deal. Bravo... but good luck with that. Kids are going to be kids and when the adults say "you'll shoot your eye out" the kids will find ways to get what it is the adults say they can't have.

It seems Juul has changed their marketing strategy somewhat. Time will show if they are serious about it or if the feds will continue to crack down further on the little SanFransico company that took a market away from Joe Camel and the Marlboro man.

Speaking of, they are on the verge of giving the thumbs up to the heat not burn technology that has exploded on the Japanese market like free beer at a biker rally. Certainly there will be loads of restrictions and requirements going in. And big tobacco has the resources to either comply or donate to the secret policeman's ball so-to-speak.
