I still eat tomato sandwiches, also pineapple, but my favorite is potato salad sandwiches!
To this day I still love and eat baked bean sandwiches. I also put homemade chili over a piece of bread.

In keeping with this discussion of disgusting sandwiches...my Dad loved cannibal sandwiches. A weekend ritual of his. Raw ground beef with onion. When I was a kid I asked to try it. He made me one. First bite I thought I was gonna puke. He tried making me eat the whole thing. One of the very rare times my mom intervened and overruled him. Thanks, Mom! :)

That was one of my favorites as a kid! We didn't know then that we weren't rich, though. Back then, we considered ourselves middle class. Pineapple sandwiches here and there for lunch in the summer and steak on the grill on most Friday nights during the Summer.
Wow! You could afford pineapple and steak once a week? I ate apples and had hamburger on some summer Friday nights. :(
I realized that others were way ahead of us when I entered senior high. The rich kids had new Mustangs and Camaros. I was driving a 56 Chevy that I had to work on most of the time
A 56 Chevy! I would have given my left arm for a 56 Chevy. I was traveling with my '64 Ford Falcon station wagon 2 speed that I got for 50 bucks. :(

My grandpa used to always make spaghetti sandwiches with leftovers. Not bad, but meh.

Other than fried bologna sandwiches, my favorite as a kid was breakfast for dinner night: Fried egg, just a hint of runnyness in the yolk, a trace of salad dressing (not mayo) on the toast, and loads of Plochman's mustard. Still eat that sometimes.

My older relatives grew up during the Great Depression, so they made do with what they had or could afford. I remember them telling me that at times they ate mayonnaise or tomato sandwiches because that was all that they could afford. :(
My dad ate onion and cheese sandwiches. Here in NOLA, it was “french fries” and gravy on french bread, thus the name poboy (couldn’t afford meat).

Fried potato sandwichs, thick slices of potato, with a thin slice of raw onion on buttered bread (My wife thinks I am weird)

French fries or hash browns with sausage gravy is the bomb. Why not put them in a sandwich?

Apparently in Great Britain, french fry sandwiches are a big thing, called the Chip Butty.

First, spaghetti sandwiches can be awesome IF you make it with garlic toast for the bread. Just butter up some bread and lightly sprinkle some garlic powder and salt then toast it. Add the spaghetti and yum.

Second, Eggs need to be cooked sunny side up, just until the whites solidify and the yolk is still completely runny. Add a bit of salt and pepper.....perfection.
