AHA Dedicates $20 Million to Youth vaping Research
Association and partners aim to "hold e-cigarette companies publicly accountable for their lies"

I am NOT going to link this, as I dont want to give them any more hit count, but what a crock. Appears they are trying to buy an outcome that supports their view. Wish we had $20 mil to conduct our own studies........

"The American Heart Association (AHA) declared a multi-million dollar war on the electronic cigarette industry, and use of e-cigarettes by youth.

The AHA announced at its annual meeting "an aggressive, three-pronged initiative involving research, policy advocacy and youth activation intended to urgently address the epidemic of youth e-cigarette use," according to a press release.

"It is going to take a big, unparalleled, and urgent commitment by national and community level stakeholders if we are going to beat big tobacco," said Robert Harrington, MD, AHA president, at an AHA press conference. The initiative is an "unprecedented effort to drive scientific discovery, and is designed to help end the vaping and nicotine use in this country."

The "End the Lies Youth Vaping and Nicotine Research Initiative" will receive $20 million initially -- an amount that is 40 times larger than the typical AHA grant, the association noted."

The "End the Lies" initiative "will focus urgently on the impact of vaping and nicotine use on youth, funding two or three scientists who will work intensely over the next two years to address the fact that there is no knowledge about the long-term health effects in youth," according to the release."

Who holds these health organizations publicly responsible for THEIR lies, that's what I want to know. :-x

It's like a release from a professional psyops propaganda machine. I suppose "politics" has always been largely about that. I mean look at some of the press during the founding of the USA, or any country.

But damn. I wish someone like the AHA, who ostensibly is health-science in nature, had a more rational rather than reactionary approach. This puts the AHA into Amateur Special-interest PAC political-tool category. Reeds blowing in the wind, maybe heavily influenced by BT. No longer to be trusted to be factual and unbiased.

    Major integrity loss, IMO.

Just my $.02 but I believe it important that we not attack science or scientists — science is not the issue. Rather, it is a failure to adhere to scientific principles, including harm reduction, by a few, well-funded organizations then amplified to a media hysteria by billionaire, turd-ball Michael Bloomberg.

There are scientific voices opposing these falsehoods, though much like our own, they’re faint against the media hysteria and avalanche of Bloomberg money. Best tact would seem to continue confronting falsehoods and half-truths while encouraging the rational and responsible voices in science.

Unfortunately, much of the science today is skewed to produce a desired outcome. With just about any study, even peer reviewed studies, the first thing I do is follow the money. Before I even read the study. Rarely will a study get published that contradicts the Funding entities POV.

And yes, thats on both sides of any given issue. Scientific experiments can easily be skewed towards a desired result. Truly objective science is becoming a rare bird, mainly because theres no money it.

Not all Admins have access to PMs, there are different levels for Admins too.
I do NOT have access - so feel free to trash me as much as you want.
As far as I know Oliver is the only one that has ever had full permissions like that for privacy sake - and I know he has no desire to read your PMs.

This just in from Regulator Watch. Just what we've been discussing here... :)

Trump Trap | Did Progressives Overreach on Vape Ban? | RegWatch

    "Trump’s Vaping Ban is Dropped
In welcome news, the White House announced on Nov. 17 that the Trump flavor ban is dead. Concern over jobs in critical battleground states played a determining role in the decision. As Reason.com reports:

Officials said the blowback to Trump’s vow to ban most flavored e-cigarettes had rattled him. In an aggressive social media campaign—#IVapeIVote—advocates claimed the ban would shut down thousands of shops, eliminating jobs and sending vapers back to cigarettes. The president saw protesters at events and read critical articles. His campaign manager, Brad Parscale, privately warned the ban could hurt him in battleground states, said a person who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. Trump was now upset with Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, who had taken the lead in rolling out the plan, said three officials familiar with the discussions.

    A new trap is laid
So, if the impact of a flavor ban on jobs is so great today and must be avoided, what would be different come May 2020 when FDA moves to enforce rules regarding the PMTA? The answer: there is no difference."

At a minimum, the vaping industry must fight for its life on removing the PMTA requirement that all vaping products must demonstrate a net benefit to public health.

The U.S. vaping industry must not sit on its laurels and wait for the FDA to improve its guidance: it’s not going to happen. The industry must now embrace Trump. And deliver to him a reasonable plan that allows e-juice companies to stay in operation, retail shops to stay open and that also protects the public and keeps devices out of the hands of kids.

It’s always in the worst of times that the greatest of opportunities present themselves. This could be one of those times. And Trump is that opportunity. Whether you like him or not.
