But >90% of that list, if they do submit a PMTA on September 8th, will have been Rejected by October 30th.

Well that is not optimistic.

Thanks Katya. I leave the sig display option enabled because I only read thru 3 forum sites, and one of them doesn't even allow its' members to have sig lines. I find sigs entertaining usually, and I think it's a great idea to let users choose whether they want them displayed or not.Very nice.
Deeming was proposed in the spring of 2014. It was finalized in the late spring of 2016, with an effective date of 8/8/2016, but with a two year grace period for vendors to prepare PMTAs, so the original deadline was 8/8/2018.The reality from my perspective is that what is going to happen Sept 9 is what we expected to happen in 2016(I think that was the year.) The problem we are seeing now is that we had one reprieve after another for years to the point where now many people are dead certain we will have another. I am 99% sure we will NOT have a reprieve this time.
I am ordering my "lifetime" supply of nicotine an a week or two. That is the only thing I haven't really been working to stock up on yet, just because I am still deciding between two freezer options. I'm not even sure if nicotine is technically part of the PMTA thing. But with the chances it is going to be taxed at an astronomical rate, it is just doesn't make sense not to get some stockpiled. I'm all for hoping for the best, but also for preparing for the worst.Thank you for the Kind words Anna.
I Don't proclaim to have a Crystal Ball and know with Absolute Certainty what the Future holds for e-Cigarettes.
But Given the Past, and given the Current Climate both Objectively and Politically, I would say that obtaining that supply of Nicotine was a Very Wise choice.
yeah time made me foggy on the dates thanks.Deeming was proposed in the spring of 2014. It was finalized in the late spring of 2016, with an effective date of 8/8/2016, but with a two year grace period for vendors to prepare PMTAs, so the original deadline was 8/8/2018.
If they FDA has shown one thing, it's that they're unpredictable. The deadline extensions. The lack of enforcement against new products (no new products were supposed to be introduced to the market after 8/8/16). The ban on flavored pods while leaving flavored disposables available.
I made it a point to be ready before 8/8/2016, because as of that date, the FDA had the power to shut down anything it chose to (for example nic base), regardless of the PMTA grace period. They didn't do anything like that immediately, but did end up exercising that power against things like flavored pods more recently.
I've done what I can to try to help get people ready. If someone isn't not ready yet, well...
...
The ones I worry for are those who have yet to make the switch and wont have a choice.
If you care about harm reduction
It's wonderful and so sweetly optimistic that anyone can still hold on to the hope that harm reduction is of the slightest concern to the government in all this.I can only hope that our legislators will come to their senses some day and realize that tobacco harm reduction is a path worth pursuing
