But >90% of that list, if they do submit a PMTA on September 8th, will have been Rejected by October 30th.

Well that is not optimistic.

"Few if any small, independent vaping businesses have the financial resources to submit an effective PMTA. Industry advocates are pressing the FDA and its parent agency the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to adopt a simplified version of the approval pathway for small manufacturers. And while hundreds of small companies are proceeding with plans to submit PMTAs based on a model version of the simplified process, the federal agencies have offered no sign that the small companies’ applications will be accepted for review. In January, HHS Secretary Alex Azar promised a “streamlined” PMTA process, but no changes to the onerous, expensive system have been made."

FDA May Hate Their Guts, But the PMTA Process Favors JUUL

Real people don't whitewash the truth because they are not prepared. I'm sorry it's a childish behavior, and to call other people "downers" for stating what MAY in fact FINALLY happen....

That's not what this thread was ever about I don't think. It is about facts.

I sincerely hope by then I am safely across the country in a new home with MY LIFETIME of nic supply intact.

It's nice to think "oooh ooh something good will happen" but that is not what seems to be factually going on.

It is also possible to be a PRAGMATIST, an information gatherer and disseminator and to be generally happy about his life, the future, and genuinely happy about helping others.

You know,. @mikepetro , @Rossum , and @zoiDman were always my favorites on this thread. I could count on them for the cold, hard truth and to help\ me with EVERY problem to the best of their ability.

Perhaps you should read the thread from the beginning, (I did, when I got here) and I AM SO GLAD I DID.

Do not discount the fact that politics gets around to everything in its time and these gentlemen have made QUTIE a study of it.

I, for one, am so grateful I learned, read, listened and asked questions.; Those three have forgotten more about vaping than I will probably ever learn. HAVE some respect for your elders and betters in vaping. NO offense.

I know who to thank and you are many, but Zoid, Rossum and MikeP THANK YOU FOR ALL YORU HELP.

Anna

Thank you for the Kind words Anna.

I Don't proclaim to have a Crystal Ball and know with Absolute Certainty what the Future holds for e-Cigarettes.

But Given the Past, and given the Current Climate both Objectively and Politically, I would say that obtaining that supply of Nicotine was a Very Wise choice.

The reality from my perspective is that what is going to happen Sept 9 is what we expected to happen in 2016(I think that was the year.) The problem we are seeing now is that we had one reprieve after another for years to the point where now many people are dead certain we will have another. I am 99% sure we will NOT have a reprieve this time.

The only real hope is enough gets through the PMTA for a full vaping rig AND liquid to put in it to still be available. I think that is a VERY slim hope. For me it doesn't matter so much. For people who need to quit smoking it is critical that some sort of full system gets through. Weather it is open system or proprietary pod.

If an open system gets through but no liquid does it is useless. If a liquid goes through but no system to put it in goes through it is useless. Those of us with older equipment cannot keep a liquid vendor in business indefinitely without new vapers coming along behind us. So if anything less that a full setup with liquid gets through it is a useless gesture and we are back to full nuclear winter for vaping.

So many variables at play. Vaporesso planning to PMTA GT coils is great but if the tanks that use them do not go through then the sales of those coils stops when existing gear that uses them fails. It is a limited return and a distinct possibility Vaporesso discontinues the coils sooner than we think for US sales. That goes for so many of the things we take for granted now.

The thing is it is all bleak. We cannot afford to be lulled into a false sense of security about any of it.

    Very nice.
Thanks Katya. I leave the sig display option enabled because I only read thru 3 forum sites, and one of them doesn't even allow its' members to have sig lines. I find sigs entertaining usually, and I think it's a great idea to let users choose whether they want them displayed or not.

Deeming was proposed in the spring of 2014. It was finalized in the late spring of 2016, with an effective date of 8/8/2016, but with a two year grace period for vendors to prepare PMTAs, so the original deadline was 8/8/2018.

If they FDA has shown one thing, it's that they're unpredictable. The deadline extensions. The lack of enforcement against new products (no new products were supposed to be introduced to the market after 8/8/16). The ban on flavored pods while leaving flavored disposables available.

I made it a point to be ready before 8/8/2016, because as of that date, the FDA had the power to shut down anything it chose to (for example nic base), regardless of the PMTA grace period. They didn't do anything like that immediately, but did end up exercising that power against things like flavored pods more recently.

I've done what I can to try to help get people ready. If someone isn't not ready yet, well...

I am ordering my "lifetime" supply of nicotine an a week or two. That is the only thing I haven't really been working to stock up on yet, just because I am still deciding between two freezer options. I'm not even sure if nicotine is technically part of the PMTA thing. But with the chances it is going to be taxed at an astronomical rate, it is just doesn't make sense not to get some stockpiled. I'm all for hoping for the best, but also for preparing for the worst.

yeah time made me foggy on the dates thanks.

Several of us have spent years with you trying to help people be ready for what was coming. At least now more believe it will come and we are not being picked on as chicken littles anymore.

The ones I worry for are those who have yet to make the switch and wont have a choice.

If you care about harm reduction

I can only hope that our legislators will come to their senses some day and realize that tobacco harm reduction is a path worth pursuing
It's wonderful and so sweetly optimistic that anyone can still hold on to the hope that harm reduction is of the slightest concern to the government in all this.

I do and always will. And I'm not ashamed of it. But I do more than hope--I fight for what I believe. I support every pro-vaping organization I know of, I'm a member of CASAA and support them with monthly financial donations, I respond to all Calls to Action issued by them and by VTA. I've been doing it for over 10 years now and I'm convinced that without those efforts vaping would have been extinguished in 2009 when FDA started seizing shipments of ecigs from China.

If every vaper in this country did the same we probably would be in a much better place today. I can't prove it, of course, but that's what I believe. And I'm really astonished by the lack of awareness or apathy of so many fellow vapers in this country. Advocacy works. But we need everybody to get involved--not just a few of us.

In case you haven't done so already, please join us, help spread the word, and donate if you can. Membership is free.

We’ve never done anything like this before… - CASAA

I have to say I'm speechless in regards to what is taking place where you folk are. I thought we had it bad with what happened with the TPD regulations in Europe a few years ago.
It does appear to be a never ending battle, not just in the USA either.
As @Katya implied, us vapors, all vapors, need to unite and keep fighting for the cause.
