If we were all being completely honest...
The public would be best won over by subtle little tootle puff exhales...

I think we all know that.
And I understand the hesitance to either admit or accept that.

I don't agree with it myself.
But I can't change the fact that it is indeed fact.
Much better put, than the way the author did at the end of part one.
I guess I'll read part two, but I'm not in a hurry to.

This is another thing that befuddles me. You seem to have enough encounters with rude
vaping behavior to last a life time while 99.9% of the vapers here on the forum including
myself have never witnessed a single incident. Is this an East Coast thing?

Mike

I guess I am part of the .1% Percent.

Because I have seen my Share of Disrespectful Vapers. About have of them were what I would call Cloud Chasers. And the Other hafe were Bob Cloud Chasers.

Maybe it is the Part of the Country I live in. Because I could say the Same Thing about Drivers also. Or maybe it is just that I Interact with a Larger amount of people? Or because of the Density of the Cities.

I dunno?

I am being honest. I think a puffer is less likely to be noticed, and perhaps that's a good thing. There's also something dramatic about walking past a cloud, expecting to be irritated by the smoke, and experiencing none of that. Rude people are not a good example of anything.

it still boggles the senses that photo's of Big Foot are more common than
unstaged photo's of rude vapers.

It's also good to remember that if things are constantly being reported every where than in
the 1.5 million strong metro area you live that these things are greatly overstated at best
and rhetorical points with no merit at worst.
Just saying,not pointing.

Mike

I think what bothers me the most is that all subohm vapers are blamed for the deeming because they are "cloud chasers."

Bothers me on a couple of levels subohm!=cloud chasing for one. Also The FDA was going to do this. No one group of vapers os to blame for it. Look to money, power, crony capitalism and ANTZ if you feel the need to assign blame.

I do admit that when the small town I live in finally got something it considers a vape shop (it is one counter in a comb head shop, tatoo parlor, ..........). I walked in there with my REO which they had never seen anything like it and my RDA on it at .7 ohms and shocked the tar out of hipsters running the place. I guess they were not ready for a little old lady that builds her own coils and subohms. LOL

Potentiating through visibility.

Someone tryin to emulate Saturn's rings ( in their original size ) is bound to draw attention - not all of it benevolent.

Meanwhile a dozen tootle puffers slip by unnoticed...

Me, I'm the other way round. Flavour, nic, throat hit, as few tell tales as possible. Special mix for special occasions. Getting away with it in all sorts of places. Eventually I'm gonna go vaping at an ANTZ convention, hiding in plain sight, so to speak ;) Problem : if I'd succeed(ed), you'd never know :D

I followed the links to send my local officials emails and such. I just got this response just now to my email:
ETA: I'm in North Carolina.
Dear Mrs. Crook:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding H.R. 2058, the FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2015. I appreciate hearing from you.

As you know, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to finalize regulations for electronic cigarettes in 2015. In a bizarre example of the Obama administration creating novel definitions to words with otherwise plain meaning, the FDA has decided to regulate electronic cigarettes as tobacco products even though electronic cigarettes do not contain tobacco. These regulations will apply to e-cigarettes released into the market after February 15, 2007. Since the majority of these products did not exist prior to this date, nearly all e-cigarette products will be affected by these new regulations coming out of FDA.

On April 28, 2015, Representative Tom Cole (R-OK) introduced H.R. 2058, which was referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee before being referred to the Subcommittee on Health. If enacted, H.R. 2058 would prevent FDA from banning tobacco products that have been introduced to the market after 2007.

I understand your concerns with the Federal Drug Administration's regulation of electronic cigarettes and agree that e-cigarettes should not be subject to tobacco product regulations, since they are, in fact, products that contain exactly no tobacco. The out-of-control executive branch regulatory regime has hurt our economy, as evidenced by the unacceptable economic stagnation we have been experiencing for far too long. If H.R. 2058 comes before the Senate, I will support it.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. It is important to hear from citizens on issues that affect the state and the nation. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me again about other important issues.

Sincerely,

Thom Tillis
U.S. Senator

Thank you for posting this. I'm going to paraphrase it and use it for my email to my legislators today.

ETA: After copying the letter and putting it into a Word document where I could read it closely, it appears the senator needs to hire someone with better language skills.

Just to Interject Some Amount of Balance to this Cloud vs. Tootle Blame Game thing.

The Worst, the Absolute Worst, Scene I ever saw was when a Mid-Age Women was asked to Stop Using her eGo/CE4 set-up inside a Restaurant.

She went on a Complete Tirade shouting that El Torito was Violating Her Rights and that they were Nazi's Hell Bent on the Destruction of Personal Freedoms.

It was kinda Comical at 1st. But Quickly Degrade into being Embarrassing (as a Vaper) and in a way Sad to see someone have a Complete Meltdown. And I'm sure left a Lasting Impression with Everyone within Earshot. And that was Everyone. Because she was in Full "I Can Vape Everywhere" Vocal Mode as they Escorted her out.

There's a idea. I have COPD, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis and heart failure. I am O2 dependent. Maybe I should sue saying if I'm forced to smoke to get my nicotine, it will absolutely kill me and fast. Nah, they'll just say there's other avenues.

Amazon could probably rule the flavor market. They sell Capella's under "Baking Extracts and Flavoring". I strongly believe that flavoring is the least of our worries except for certain ones...like my personal favorites...Hangsen Tobaccos...ugh

No one needs Amazon when you can simply order direct from Capella at 1/3 the price. None of the flavoring companies are going anywhere, they didn't start out as vape supply dealers they simply took advantage of a new market.

MIT Brickman article..............
Mit Brickman does make some valid points tho. When I still worked, I was allowed to vape in my office with the door closed because my bosses were so thankful not to smell cigarette smoke on me from going outside.

I have always treated vaping like I would smoking because you just never know who will raise a fuss.
Always used the smoking area at airports, etc, etc.

We need to focus our attention on changing the perception like the article(Brickman's) said.

Someone please pass this idea to someone who may be able to do something with it.

A commercial with a family whose children are saying how greatfull they are that their parents switched from smoking cigarettes to vaping. ect ect.....
well, you get the idea.
