I think they do realize this - but it is a perfect "argument" for them, because it will always be true until that 'adult smoking population rate' goes from 15.1% to zero. There will always be smokers/dual users in 'transition' to which they can point, without giving the reason why.
I never went through that 'dual use' phase but almost everyone I know locally, and many here, have.

Doesn't this seem like a hard line drawn by a lot and an often used argument against vaping? It's the fuel behind, it doesn't help people quit smoking, people only vape where they can't smoke to get around the laws...
While that may be true in some cases, it's really what they heard about their NRT's which were meant for, and ineffective for, cessation. Instead they got feedback that people only used them on flights and other areas where they couldn't smoke. Which is not the same with ecigs in 'regular' spaces. I still use snus and the tablets Katya sent me on flights :- )

Can you imagine someone so proud that they only smoked 10 cigarettes that day instead of 2 packs...just to be told too bad, you fail - you should have
smoked 0 !!!
It's also an argument that will soon enough lose all meaning, as there will be few, if any, places where you can vape but not smoke...
My son finds himself in the dual user position and honestly he feels so discouraged at times because his girl, friends and myself have all been able to stop smoking day one with vaping, and, he has had people accuse him of only vaping to use it where he can not smoke. I often worry he will quit vaping and go back to smoking 2+ packs a day so I make it a point to tell him how proud I am he is only smoking 5-6 cigarettes a day now even he never quits smoking completely.

I told Satan that I had quit smoking seven years ago thanks to electronic cigarettes.
And then I told him I have actually been zero nicotine for the last 5 months.
NOTE: I did explain how this was not a choice I enjoyed making

And then he asked if I ever smoked a cigarette since then.
And I told him that yes, I have, and do every blue moon just for fun.
I told him how they have no power over me now.
I told him how they taste bad and make me kind of sick now.
He jumped on that like it was some kind of ticket to his world of lies.
And he started telling me about how bad of an idea that was.
I really didn't get the gist of where he was going with that.
But I thought it was worth mentioning.
Anyway, I told him that some of us don't fear cigarettes any more.
And many of us are still very much afraid of them.
Regardless, he did not seem to like that I would have a cigarette if I felt like it.
Almost as if it was personal for him.
Meh.
My wife had a similar problem but it was solved with eGos and Kanger T3S at 1.8Ω which finally got enough vapor for her. Since she's added some of the smaller box mods but still vapes eGos/T3S's as well. Off smokes for @2+ years but started vaping when I did 7 years ago,( next week), but dual used up to that point 2 years ago.

Approximate time I bought my first cigalike mid-2008, dual used until 15 March 2013, ran out of smokes one day, didn't buy more. Vaped only ever since.
I know I'm a sample of one, but...
Edit: I'd also like to mention that I was a 2+ PAD smoker and I REALLY liked smoking. Loved it. I didn't quit because of any particular reason than "meh, this works too."
Just had my best friend of 40+ years go through quadruple bypass. While he officially "quit", he still snuck in his cigarettes without his wife knowing. Well, she found out and flipped. She was telling me how she will make his life hell if he even thinks about having another cigarette and that she will not tolerate it anymore. I laughed at her. I told her the only one who can quit smoking cigarettes is the person who smokes cigarettes and that all her ranting and raving only makes it worse. Never knew of a case where a smoker quit through negative reinforcement.
and as for the people that only use e-cigarettes for places that they can't smoke a cigarette...

This made me so mad I am literally shaking and my ears are burning from my blood pressure going up. These are the types of shows that just outright ignore science completely and then just lie whenever convenient. I couldn't comment on the video for some reason the comments wouldn't work but I def disliked it. We need to go and dislike this video. Such BS
Wow! One of the worst TV pieces on vaping I've seen. Maybe even THE worst.
Dr. JJ, the pediatrition, is malpracticing on a mass level, and the couch potato media heads are attempting to dumb down all the way to the bottom to gain an edge on their dumb competition.
I'm sure that at this point I fall out of the bounds of timeframes sampled so I'm probably just a Vaper who never smoked or quit.
