I'm not sure if you have listened to the interview or not...
But if you haven't you should, and you might change your mind...

I have never been one to be easily fooled, and this guy sounds for real.
Granted, I can't say I've never been fooled, but it's pretty hard to fake his passion.

It seems to me he's been itching to pick a fight...
:)
This. I agree with all of this. If any of you haven't listened to the interview, I think you should. He says some things that we've all been saying here for a long time. Just based on the interview, I like the guy. (And I'm a cynic to the core.)

Sadly I don't think that we're going to get any traction in Congress. The mainstream media is selling this as "For the children", and "Safety standards", and the general (nonvaping) public is buying it. VERY few politicians of ANY stripe are going to buck that.
Any type of political action is going to take time that we don't necessarily have to build support in the wider populous. I'm not suggesting that we ignore that angle, but our best bet for immediate relief is through the courts at this point.

This is the Difference of what an Oversight Committee does. It doesn't/Isn't based on Public Opinion. It is Based on if an Agency has Overstepped its Authority.

Not say'n that Public Support Isn't going to Help Us. Of Course it is.

But don't give up All Hope yet.

I certainly didn't mean all and may have worded it incorrectly. Just that 9 times out of 10 when I get a negative attitudes about it it's from older generations.

I have found the exact opposite - it has been my personal experience that the older generations (above 40) are more tolerant (and even happy about it) while those in their 20's and 30's (and maybe early 40's) give snide looks/remarks.

So, whats wrong with chest thumping.

Hope is hope, the more the better.
Nothing wrong with chest thumping. But it wont translate into the necessary action we need. I've been around politics too long. Everyone chest thumps. After awhile you don't hear it anymore. Pols pay attention to two things. Money and constituents. Money always. Constituents when theirass is on the hook.

I had a conversation with a non-smoker/non-vaper today.

I made him aware that "all this vape stuff" affects him too.
He asked me why.
I told him that it sets a precedent for BP, BG, and the FDA to control whatever they want.
I told him that this action by the FDA could open doors for control over other things that affect the entire population, not just smokers and vapers.
He was blown away at the simple idea of the FDA overreaching in any other topic, like they are here.

He's changed his mind on how to vote now.

So maybe that's another good angle for us to use when helping to educate those that might help us.

I wondered, Bronze, but I liked what I heard from him on that radio broadcast.

And the fact that an oversight arm of the government is questioning the intentions of another government entity, well, that's never a bad thing.
I want to be clear. I have as much hope and determination to defeat these regs as anyone on this thread. Perhaps I come from a different angle. I have been politically aware for the last 38 years of my life. I know who most of the senators are, can name you many House members, and list the presidents in reverse order going back a long way. I'm a geek. When was the last time we have seen or heard of the Department of Homeland Security and Governmental Agency Oversight stop any regulation of consequence? No one even knew Senator Johnson had oversight. I'm being realistic. I'm all for Senator Johnson's oversight, but that is not where I am tossing my pennies and making a wish.

I'm nowhere near your level, but I've been slightly exposed to a political issue or three. I don't know that his actions will prevent anything, but the fact that a spotlight is being shined on the FDA, from the department responsible for such, is a good thing.

Technically, the media was established for the very purpose he's serving (in this case). It's sad that we'd even need to rely on another arm of government to step in here, in my opinion. A geek like you would already know the phrase, "The freedom of the press is one of the greatest bulwarks of liberty, and can never be restrained but by despotic Governments."

I wonder what Mr. Mason might think of what's become of our media today.

The questionnaire that Senator Johnson submitted to the FDA is standard operating procedure. The FDA expects to get that questionnaire...along with hundreds of other similar questionnaires. This isn't some unusual, out of the ordinary action that DHS took. It's better he did what he did than not at all but I'd hate to see anyone pin much more than a couple ounces of hope that it will make any difference.

...Everyone needs to read that letter he wrote the FDA
That needs to get plastered everywhere

I've sent it to Many People.

Most people just kinda say..."uhh, OK: or "That's Cool". But one person said (paraphrased)...

"So let me get this Straight. The FDA has been working on Deeming for 5 Years, and now, 10 days after they finally publish it the Governmental Oversight Committee is looking into it? SMH."

LOL
