Vaping Measure Fails to Pass Senate
Got buried in the election rhetoric - like most everything else.
Well, that sucks. I guess we'll have to see what happens with the FDA overhaul then. Still have the Nicopure lawsuit outstanding.
But it seems we have ornery and uppity Federal judges these days too.
Which is not terrible when they're willing to toss out executive orders and other regulations. As long as they toss the ones we want them to.
I'll admit that it's an assumption, based on the fact that the FDA tried to classify e-cigs as drugs/drug devices until they were told that they couldn't because they were tobacco products. Take away the tobacco, they go back to regulating as drugs. The only way around that, IMO, is to have a separate category created for vapor products with its own regulatory plan.
ETA: afaik the only "FDA approved" nicotine that exists outside of tobacco is NRT. Whatever the FDA sticker is on the bottle of nic, it's not an approval. It might be a registration number.

Sad that almost every government in the world wants us all to just shut up and go back to smoking and pay our cig taxes, get sick and spend a ton on expensive pharmaceuticals before dying of cancer or heart disease like good little boys and girls. Almost funny how ridiculous the whole mess is.

I told her that it was Rare, but refreshing, to see a Media Outlet include text that Explains some of the behind the scenes Motivations as to why an Bill (or amendment) is sometimes introduced with little chance of Passage.
"Neither the House nor Senate bill are expected to actually pass. The bills serve as an opportunity for the cigar industry to explain its uniqueness to members of Congress. The support from legislators is then used to show the executive branch—either FDA itself or the White House—that there is congressional support for the exemption.
The most likely scenario for actual action in Congress is by adding language to bills that fund FDA. The standalone bills are also used to further those efforts."

That kinda Applies to a Lot of things in Life.
Be it knowing the Back Roads to take when the Freeway is Jammed. Or using a Coupon Code when buying Online. Or being More Efficient at your Job so you Don't have to work as hard as the person Next to You.
I'm not going to go so Far as to say that the little guys can Never Win. But the Little Guys needs to be Highly Organized.
Vapers represent a Larger Percentage of People than what Many House or Senate seats were Won/Lost over. So yeah, we may be Small, but that Doesn't mean that we can't have a Voice at the Table.
I had often thought about getting into the vaping business.
How could you NOT when you were here in 2009 and saw what COULD be?
But I had a great job, a wonderful wife, and a good life.
And I saw black clouds forming on the horizon of the vaping world.
So I decided long ago to keep my hands, and my future, out of the game.
That is why I will always salute Halo, and a few others.
They went for it, did it right, and stuck it out.
I hope they make it though to the other side.
And every day I'm becoming more and more hopeful that they will.
As opposed to around a year ago, when I was becoming less and less hopeful by the day.

Except that is exactly how Trump got elected.
Trump is meeting with Congress right now to discuss legislation designed to "save the American people billions of dollars." Congressman Duncan Hunter, from California, AKA The Vaping Congressman, is seated one person away from the President. I would love to be a fly on the wall in this meeting!!
As much as I appreciate the efforts of Congressman Hunter and Senator Johnson I'm guessing Deeming still does not rank high on their list of priorities. Not that they wont deal with it in time but would probably not be a point of discussion with the prez. Especially since Trump probably has absolutely no clue as to what vaping is or the regulations in question. I think this is something that has to run through DHHS and if it goes through the legislature Trump will be educated about it then (since it will likely be attached to a much larger bill).
Just Curious, by why do you say this?
I would think being around Pence for some amount of time, the Topic of e-Cigarettes/e-Liquids would have come up. Especially when the name David Hamilton is mentioned.
