You know the difference between a cat and a dog?

A dog sees you open doors for it, give it food and water and love in general, and thinks to itself, "That two legger must be a god!"

A cat sees you do those things and it thinks, "I must be a god."..

The difference is:

If a dog comes into the kitchen and sees you on the ground dying of a heart attack, he thinks, "Oh no, master is in trouble, I better go get help."

If a cat comes into the kitchen and sees you on the ground dying of a heart attack, he thinks, "Well I'm not getting any food from this fu**er, I better go find someone else to feed me."

It Takes a Thief fan, @Alexander Mundy?

Long story, but got the nickname from the IBM370 sysop in college because I hacked from the student partition to the administrative partition and stole sysop privileges creating a fake student with all records for an assembler class final. Wasn't illegal back then but was highly frowned upon by the administration.

True, the cat owned a prior human, who passed away. I will be its replacement pet human. Hopefully I live up to her expectations
I often wonder about my cats previous keepers, as they were all rescues...and think what circumstance brought them to having been given up into the rescue system? Was it an untimely death, homelessness, inability to provide proper care? They all come with some quirks from their previous lives, it's like getting a used car, sure, there is a ding here or there, but there's still a bunch of good miles on her

She’s middle aged, so I’m sure she’ll come with some quirks. She belonged to an elderly couple. When he passed unexpectedly, his spouse was moved to an alzheimer’s unit. When their niece came a MONTH later to clean out the house, she discovered the cat there. The sitter/aide had cut open bags of cat food, and just left her there alone , didn’t bother to notify the niece there was an animal in the house. (Evil human!!!) She’s currently 3 pounds overweight, and shaved from the shoulders to her tail tip because she’s too hefty to groom her long hair. Hopefully she finds us to her liking and we can give her happy, love filled rest of her years.

Too bad the investment came in late in the year for juul. Otherwise they now have enough money to buy a Super Bowl slot. I'm sure that would draw attention to them. I haven't seen or heard one, but from what's being described here they sound responsible within the confines they're stuck with.

My best guess prediction will be with the warchest they now have, they go for approval as a modified risk tobacco product so they can make harm reduction claims. That would give them a big leg up in the market. The only other product trying for that now in the US and with the financial resources to even try is the IQOS system.

I can't tell you how completely bored I am with the discussion about vaping and kids, and for that matter cigarettes and kids. I was a kid once, and I suppose in many ways I still am.
I'm gonna do what I want to do, try what I want to try. If you tell me too often what I shouldn't then I'll definitely try it.
Prosecute the local shops who sell to the underage.
Online, one can only buy with credit cards. How in hell do kids get credit cards? Not from banks. If parents give kids credit cards, their fault.

What's to keep a "kid" from "borrowing" (without permission) their parent's credit card from their purse or wallet, making an online purchase with it, and then conveniently returning the card to where they got it? Takes about 5 minutes.

I don't know about everyone else, but I usually don't routinely look at my credit card statements to review my previous month's credit purchases.

Probably not PC but my dad and his belt was enough to deter me from many stupid things as a kid. The threat was real...LOL

I do! I even get alerts from my credit card provider each time there's a charge more than a penny. Makes it way easier to keep track of those Amazon purchases.

In conclusion, I have strong compulsive tendencies.

I didn't either and since I used my cards for business too, it wasn't unusual to have lots of motel bills and plane tickets on the bill.

That is when once I just happened to glance at the bill and there was a flight to Hawaii on the bill. Plus a hotel in Honolulu with lots of meals, etc. Sure I've flown to Hawaii before, but not last month. Of course I called American Express and they said they are sorry and all and not to worry about it. So they had taken it off of my bill.

You know, I bet they tack on erroneous charges to bills that has a high monthly amounts all of the time. Since most just don't bother even looking through all of the charges and they just pay the bill. Of course, if you catch it, they just say they're sorry and then add it to someone else's bill. :(

No, they don't, at least not on mine. I've got a half a dozen employees who are additional card holders and the bills add up to a six figure amount each year. My wife goes through those statements very carefully because every line item has to be accounted for.

Yeah, these days I can't imagine not checking the bills. Been victimized too many times.

My wife uses a Discover card extensively. I don't know why, but that one gets compromised constantly. Most of the time, they catch it before she does.

I don't use credit cards since there's no sense to them unless you pay the full balance every month. But over the last 3-4 years, I've had debit cards get compromised 3 times on 3 cards under 2 separate unrelated accounts. I'm wondering if fraud is just more prevalent lately, or I must be doing something wrong somewhere. One of my suspects though could be Wizard Labs and/or Bull City - places in common with all three fraud cases (???).

HOWEVER, like a good boy, I've set up many alerts. AND I log into the accounts every week or two to see if I notice anything out of the ordinary. (SHAME on those that don't! :grr::p )

Honestly, @Baditude, IMHO you ought to be looking at every statement you get, especially credit cards. There's a ton of fraud and hacking and thievery of all kinds out there.
If either of my kids (now grown) ever ever did that when they were kids, I would have seen it, and rest assured, it would never have happened again.
I stand by my original thoughts: this whole protect-the-kids thing is dumb and pass-the-buck by parents who can't manage to be parents.

I second the statement about checking your accounts on a regular basis. As the recent recipient of cc fraud (again), I so appreciate that BOA knows my spending habits and called me immediately to see if the charges were legit. I suspect a family member this time around so I am watching closely.

Regarding using debit instead of credit, I always use my cc and pay it off each month. I like the cash back and have made a few thousand that way. Probably not good for compulsive shoppers but works for me.
