vaping products are now lumped in with "dangerous drugs".
I am not sure how to comment on these articles but they indicate that we have lost the "war on vape" one is a local newspaper and one is national news:

18th National Prescription Drug Take-Back to accept vaping products

Vape products now accepted at National Drug Take Back Day

They won't accept anything with lithium batteries nor will they accept anything with marijuana or illicit drugs. So the carts and pod devices that have caused this harm and media frenzy won't be accepted, but it's supposed to keep dangerous vaping products out of the public's hands!!???

Also very interesting, it appears Gottlieb wants to eliminate Pod systems but sees the benefit of open systems.

Makes total sense to me. It would seem the spike in youth vaping is highly correlated to the ease of use and acquisition. I mean, you go to a convenience store, shell out a few bucks for a pod and within 30 seconds you're vaping. Compare that to an open system where you have to purchase a mod, an atty, perhaps a battery, and juice and then learn how to put it all together, set it up, and tweak it. Kids don't have the money or inclination to go thru all those gymnastics. I know cigalikes have been available at convenience stores for years but, correct me if I'm wrong, they were not as desirable as these newer pod systems.

Too bad Li batteries are out. It could have saved a trip to Home Depot and stuck the government with the disposal problem.

One thing I liked about Scott was he was Unafraid to occasionally Tell The Truth.

Something that has become Exceedingly Rare these days as an Agency Head. And Almost Non-Existent in the the Realm of "Pubic Heath".

I wonder if he still has any influence with his one time colleagues. Maybe there are others still in there who agree with him.

Although in that kind of organization probably the only person whose opinion matters is the politically appointed individual at the top.

I often wonder if his looser stance on vaping and the impending pile of bricks that were about to be poured on his head by the ANTZ had something to do with him hanging up his cleats.

I'm sure it Played into things. Just like the Dump Truck of Money that was backed up into his Driveway did.

If you think about it, He was in a No Win situation.

Because anyway he went on e-Cigarettes, He was Slammed by someone. And "Public Health" had taken a backseat to Money, PR, and Political Grandstanding way before he arrived at the FDA.

I wish he could have Lasted thru the Initial PMTA phase. Because I think e-Cigarettes would have gotten the Best possible shake.

But He Didn't. And I Don't think they Now will.

Now things are in Limbo. And I would say that Zeller is at the wheel of the e-Cigarette Policy Boat.

Of course it did. The guy didn't need the money, his family was in CT with kids still in public school so they didn't want to relocate to Washington, and the commute from Washington to CT is no joy every weekend. He didn't need the aggravation. He did his two years of public service and was ready to go back to making money to support his family. Believe me, his salary didn't come close to what he made prior and can continue to make elsewhere. The position did polish up his post-public service resume for looking at opportunities, and why listen to whining that's not based on evidence driven science.

As to any influence how currently has over FDA policy, I'd rate it a zero. The best he can now do is be a talking head on cable news, and I don't think he's the kind of guy who sees himself in that position. Besides, considering current events in Washington right now, I'd say he picked the perfect time to get out of town.

Article in today's WSJ that public officials are now worried all the negative vaping stories are leading a return to cigarettes among adults and young people.
(Who would have thought).
The article also states the CDC has revised its warning to only THC products used in vaping.
(Surprise to me).
Also mentioned is the UK approach being radically different.

Apparently this newspaper has decided there are two sides to this story. Don't expect it to spread.

Wow I can't wait to go to those sites and turn in my EXTENSIVE collection of vape gear. Who knew they were dangerous drugs???

I do actually want to go to one of those sites, I have a feeling I could lift some gear especially if they accept "volunteers." I mean, I am a social worker and all I could be all like, "I'm in it for the teens, and the zero cases I have seen in my 22 year career of teens being harmed by vaping, oops I mean in my 22 career I have seen zero cases of teens NOT harmed by vaping, even the ones that haven't vaped. Fear is a sickness you know. We're all so afraid of these suckers."

Also WTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH????????

Sorry, I had to get it out there. Gottlieb I am SURE I said mean things about you but honestly not THAT mean and I take them back.

It is necessary to reel the rhetoric back now and to steer the masses to a new age of enlightenment with an insanely high taxed, over regulated, tobacco flavored, and 95% safer smoking alternative offered by gigantic corporations that shower the politicians with lobbying money and or favors.

I would have thought they'd wait until after the outrageous nicotine taxes had been passed into law.

BTW, something about that picture looks odd I realize you're an electrician, not a plumber, but the toilet is missing its tank. ;)

This may be something like that dress a while back. Is the dress white and blue or white and gold? Is there a tank or has the tank blended with the wall?

It's probably behind the lid, which is almost invisible since it's nearly the same color as the background.

Oh, it will take awhile to implement because it would look bad to do a quick 180, but it has to start somewhere. As soon as I saw bills in both the House and the Senate to tax the heck out of nicotine I knew that is the pivot point. Does no good to introduce a tax unless you follow through to make it profitable. 7 years ago I would have thought someone needed a tin foil hat to say it's all a big concerted long game by BT & government. Hand me my tin foil hat, cause I bet master settlement payments are also part of the end game concessions for BT to be able to control the market.

I cannot get over how excited they are about discovering "dripping."

I mean, like, it's like some new SIN they can go on about. Nobody better talk about dripping and driving (which as a non dripper I will admit I never understood but I've done some dome driving stuff.)

But yeah, it's like.… "I realized you self-flagellated and starved yourself for Satan but I had NO clue you could also cut off limbs and bury them under the tree in the yard."
