I’ll be back next week, since I’m not getting through, and just making this falderal go ad nauseum. I’ve had 12 people sleeping/eating/festiving for 5 days at my not enough space for this many people house. Needless to say, I’m a tad cranky. Off to vacuum, launder and empty the dishwasher... again. Then, mix up some juices to steep.
See y’all when the hoopla is over ;)

CASAA - Wisconsin
casaa.org
The donations CASAA receives (which isn't very much - they get less than $1,500 a month in subscription donations) pays for their infrastructure. Things like the web site, non-profit fees for every state and the comprehensive (and expensive) program CASAA uses to create and get out Calls to Action to over 255,000 members. It also barely pays for CASAA's only full time employee (our CEO, Alex Clark, who is underpaid IMO) and 2 part-time employees (our CFO, Kim Nye and myself, the national Member Coordinator - and I only became "staff" in 2015, after 6 years of free volunteer work.) The board of directors is completely unpaid and some directors even donate to CASAA out-of-pocket on a monthly basis. I also donate my after hours and weekend work unpaid.

Membership in and help from CASAA is completely free - donations are voluntary and they don't spam members asking them to donate.

I understand that people are scared and angry at what's happening right now - I am, too - but attacking or trying to get people to stop supporting people who have been working very hard to organize vapers and get out the truth about vaping for the past 10 years isn't helping anything.

I think I must have missed something, probably because of the 2 individuals I have filtered via the IGNORE function. Useful thing, that function...
 :(
my fault, I fed the bear. I’m old enough to know better, and I apologize to all of you.

For many, probably most, your explanation was unnecessary but it was well stated and for those newer to us may have provided a valuable clarification.

Don is one of those folks that I agree with a lot but ... I agree with @zoiDman in his comment above. The house divided...
It is not helpful.

And a sincere, huge thanks to all of you for what you do.

IMHO if vapers had listened to the so-called "fear mongering" 10 years ago when CASAA was the only kid on the block, we wouldn't be in as deep of a mess as we are now. Instead, they had to fight tooth and nail just to get a large enough FREE membership so that they could show that vaping was more than just a fringe fad.

That expensive program Kristen is referring to came about because people were too stinking lazy to keep up with their state and national legislation, but could wax poetic for hours about coil builds and steeping.

Agreed and that was a huge concern for CASAA, but a decision had to be made. We faced backlash no matter what we did or what happened. Ultimately, renewed pressure on the White House based on rumor had far fewer negative consequences than not having a Call to Action and the rumor being true. We still don't know that it wasn't true. For all we know, it's still pending or our efforts blocked the flavor ban once again.

I think you made the best decision given the circumstances.

Ouch! If you're only "a trad cranky", you're a saint. I expect I'd have lost it on day two.

You know what they say:

I am free, no matter what fools surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I kill them.

Nope. I'm a pretty ardent believer in the Non-Aggression Principle, so I won't kill them; I'll just leave. I've actually done that when my sister invited herself and her kids down to our place in FL while we were there. My wife thought it would be fun to have them. OK, honey, you have fun, but I'll go work on the cabin up in the Blue Ridge, where I can have my peace and quiet. :sneaky:

I worked at an all girls, Catholic high school for years. I gained the patience of a saint, most times lol. Sometimes something gets under my skin and I react before I engage my tolerance. I don’t want y’all to think I’m normally an a/hole.

Anyone think kids (teens) are going to stop vaping/smoking because of the new law? Anyone?

Of course, it's about the sellers. They'll nail a few with undercover sting operations, sending in a 17 year old that looks 25+, and bam, seller busted. For reasons that aren't clear.

But the kicker, if adults realize it's illegal/bad for 20 year olds to vape, then won't be too hard to convince people (mostly non-vapers, but for sure some vapers) that it most certainly has to be bad/harmful to 21+ year olds. Just give it some time. Soon deaths attributed to vaping will be a stat many can quote, like the (made up) stat saying 480,000 that die annually from smoking.
