I don’t think it can be underestimated the damage to the vaping image caused by those kids who died from vaping those laced marijuana liquids.

Yup. This and Juul and their stupid marketing to teens everywhere on social media. Sigh.

So is ECF going to be one of the social media sites being monitored? And do you think ECF will close down the classifieds after Sep 9th to protect themselves. Will it be illegal for private sales of vape gear?

I think that by social media sites they mean FB, Instagram, Twitter and such. Not necessarily e-cig forums, but who knows.

I don't think the MJ issue helped much, but it certainly wasn't the only factor and it didn't happen that early on.

It is all about taxes, really. States making money off the vaping of various forms of MJ aren't shutting down their medical or even recreational MJ programs, because it brings them taxes.

This has everything to do with the money lost by Big Tobacco and it not being paid out to the states. Really. Nothing less, nothing more.

People die from illegal substances (even in states that were legal) although they also die from LEGAL ones, such as alcohol. Often, completely INNOCENT people such as in drunk driving accidents.

If we make this a moral issue, or even a LOGICAL one, we lose. It comes down to money, pure and simple.

In some ways, if we were able to make e-cigarette users pay more in taxes.... Of course the less folks who take up the habit or in greedy states, well it is never ending.

Pretty simple really.

I will say my LEAST favorite youth was the one who blared from the rooftops he had to go to rehab or I guess it was residental treatment for Juuling. Juul or not, I really wanted to PUNCH that kid right in the mouth. I would have traded him my Suboxone detox like ONE HOUR of it and he would have seen how "addicted" he was.

I suspect we all have our "own" moments.

I would be AMAZED if they already werent monitoring ECF on some level.

Think about it, when the deeming regs were first released in 2016 it was obvious they didnt have a clue about ecig technology. The rules now are quite educated. The Feds learned about vaping.

I Don't think it is any Big Secret. But the FDA has been Reading Posts on the ECF since late 2009 or so. Just as many ANTZ groups and people like the AHA. As well as State and Local Governments.

And as Mike mentioned, they have Learned a Lot about e-Cigarettes and Usage over the years.

There are quotes from ECF and links in FDA records when they were having meetings in the early stages of forming the Deeming.

Good. I hope they read this thread. And come to their senses. Eventually.

Dear FDA, snap the :censored: out of it and do the right thing--for a change. Start approving those PMTAs right away. People's lives and livelihoods are at stake.

Yup That's been the problem with vaping advocacy ... Advocates keep using reason, science, fact, and conscience; all things that don't play into the issue at all.

This has everything to do with the money lost by Big Tobacco and it not being paid out to the states.
Got to add Big Pharma to the list of evil actors. They want smokers on their drugs and 'nicotine replacement therapy' products. And they write plenty of legislation.

they also die from LEGAL ones
More people have died from acetaminophen than from vaping nic (Of course, even 1 > 0). Where's the gub'mint mandated warning notice taking up half the label on Advil bottles?

Dear FDA, want to "save the children"? Go after the conscience stores where they buy their vapes and leave us the:censored: alone.

Those were the kind of stores selling the "bath salts" synthetic drugs that were killing kids. One is a couple blocks from me. They never shut those guys down. Shame, it used to be a small wawa and had good coffee, I haven't been in there since I saw who bought it.

Oh well since like, less than 10K without preexisting conditions died, well, more will be to follow from all our friendly Federal Health agencies.
That is a misstatement.

The issue was comorbidity, not preexisting conditions. Most all death certificates show comorbidities along with the primary cause of death.

The CDC said 94% of Covid deaths included comorbid factors. A Kansas politician distorted that statement on Facebook and Twitter to further his agenda. Both platforms removed those posts as misleading and potentially harmful.

From the Wichita Eagle yesterday -
Dr. Thomas Moore, an infectious disease specialist affiliated with Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, said that people have misinterpreted the CDC death data on underlying health conditions. Almost all death certificates list one or more contributing conditions, which doctors call comorbidities.

In the case of COVID-19, many of the comorbid factors such as pneumonia, lung disease, kidney and heart failure are actually caused by the coronavirus infection and the patient wouldn’t have had those if they didn’t catch the virus.

Additionally, many people with common pre-existing conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure or diabetes would have lived for years or even decades if they didn’t catch COVID, he said.
We've lost three family members to Covid during this pandemic, two of them otherwise healthy in their 40's. All three have comorbidities on their death certificates.

Changing one word in the CDC statement is misleading and dangerous. Checking the facts and sources is necessary and important.

Now let's get back to the Deeming issue!

The next line of Moore's quote:

"And, “For those who think they’re in the 6% range where they don’t have any comorbidities and they’re just fine, the problem is they will transmit (COVID) to those who do,” Moore said."

Don't think he totally understood the quote either... the 6% were dead - so they're not "thinking" anymore : -) ... but I agree with what you've said.
