Before you read DISCLAIMER I am not downing, degrading, or stirring the pot. Merely making an observation...some vapers do seem to put off an air of superiority in comments and irl, I see it a lot with media related stories, I understand we dont want to be lumped in with tobacco users but must we correct each and every time a somewhat incorrect term is used, or something isnt phrased right? It does impo send off a bit of a whiny 14 year old trying to argue semantics with their parents kind of impression. I also notice a lot vapers at least locally in my area with a holier than thou attitude towards smokers as well which is widespread enough I catch crap at work (be it friendly crap) about how my "group" of smokers act. I just dont think some of these lines of thinking or attitude is productive to our collective clause. We really dont need to come off as a snobbish or elite club...just my two cents...dont try to atomise me please.

There really is not much to do, half of it has to do with where you are, and who your around. At my work I have mechanics and construction workers, half of them smoke, half the smokers think shiny mechanical gadgets and do dads are a cool introduction into the work of nicotine related devices. The other half think its an alien device designed to make look like an idiot fiddling with a sex toy when could just "light up some danged ole cancer and git back to work"

I think we were outcasts as smokers and vaping has made us feel good about ourselves again, like we now "matter". There are many ways to express that - thankfulness, contrition, evangelism, smugness, self righteousness, to name just a few. I think it's just peeps being peeps in reaction to a newfound sense of personal power.

As far as semantics go, I have to disagree. Words have power and they have meanings so if someone is misusing them it seems only right to correct them (politely of course).

Regarding snobs, what are you going to do? Some people are jerks...... that's life.
I know I am quick to defend and or correct because we have a lot to lose. Words can impact, and there is already enough misinformation out there.

We all cheer each other on when someone goes analogue free....leaving the smokers group to join the vapers group. Why? We all have our reasons to not smoke cigs. Health, bad smell & taste, for our families, money(last reason noted because I spend just as much on vaping:laugh:), etc. To people still smoking I could see where vapers come off as holier than thou...we've grown beyond smoking, left it behind. I wouldn't want to go back. Sure, I believe I'm in a better place than when I smoked, but I don't put down smokers. Just wish they seized the opportunity available to them for a much better option than tobacco. :vapor:

This is true, but most of it is all in the delivery. The media will.phrase things delibritly to get there opposition to bare some teeth, or bring some negativity on themselves. Its all about appearences and unfortunatly we have to play that kind of role to play the game.

I like to think that maybe some of these younger people will at least try an alternative that I never had back in the day. I am in good health and for as long as I smoked I am still wondering about some of these commercials I am seeing of late. Why are some of us not affected to the extent pictured and to me that is the biggest question these days.

People, vapers or not, are gonna act how they want. Some are ... hats, some are not. The only thing that you can do is to conduct yourself in the manner you see fit regarding vaping. Personally, I may not agree with some vapers' attitude or conduct, but I don't see their actions as a representation of the vaping community as a whole.
