Seek and Ye Shall Find.............. Thank you to this great ECF, that got me going on so much important information that > and mostly casaa.org
We do not know what the proposed FDA regulations are going to look like yet.Still hoping that someone can supply detailed information on any proposed FDA regulations, which I cannot find on this site, the CASAA site, or the CASAA Facebook page. Plenty of info on regulations being proposed by individual states, none that I can find on regulations being considered by the FDA.
tobacco is the only reasonable source for nicotine at this time.Dumb question, probably: is tobacco the only reasonable source for nicotine, or is it made from other substances as well?

Just sort of a side note: The proposed legislation in Connecticut uses the words "electronic nicotine delivery devices", leaving open (in my opinion) the use of a vaporizer without nicotine in the liquid. Now: I'm sure that's not the INTENT of the language used, but it is what the language actually says. I read a post a while back from somebody who was vaping at a bar when told he had to stop because the bar owner was banning all nicotine. Again, that would seem to allow a non-nic vape, but I wouldn't want to be trying to explain that my juice had no nicotine as I continued to vape if I was a no-nic vaper. At this point, we can only look at the regulations already being applied to or proposed for other tobacco products and hope they don't just stick e-cigarettes with the exact same regulations, because that could cause a lot of problems for vendors and consumers.
The FDA was given the authority to regulate cigarettes and other tobacco products through the passage of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.Who does the FDA go to to be granted such control?
OK, and thanks! At this point I'm guessing that nicotine juice is not considered a tobacco product, because otherwise the FDA would not be proposing legislation to have it defined as such? The FDA was given the authority to regulate cigarettes and other tobacco products through the passage of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.
That is correct, it is not at this time legally considered by the FDA to be a tobacco product.OK, and thanks! At this point I'm guessing that nicotine juice is not considered a tobacco product, because otherwise the FDA would not be proposing legislation to have it defined as such?
Probably what BP told the FDA to do.The specific regulations the FDA wants for e-cigarettes haven't been announced yet. That is what is happening in April.

I wish I could find such detailed information about the US FDA proposed regulations. I've read far more posts about those regulations but seen far less researchable info. The link Robin provided gave me the only help I've found so far but it contains no details other than a confirmation by the FDA that they seek to extend their control to all tobacco products. Who does the FDA go to to be granted such control? Anybody know how the chain of authority works in that situation?
No, it does not, but the FSPTCA has given them the power and authority to do so and all they have to do is say they do.It appears that the FDA's current regulatory power does not include electronic cigarettes.

These are very good articles with a lot more info. Thanks! No, it does not, but the FSPTCA has given them the power and authority to do so and all they have to do is say they do.
That is what the deeming regulations will entail... them saying they now do, and them saying how they will.

Thanks, that's helpful. I can't find where the month of the legislative proposal is given.
