Be careful with punching to not deform the outer casing as it can make inserting into tank end caps quite difficult.
I have switched over to slotting like Magentaman has. Finding the wicking action works better. Not saying you should, but..... .

This is a standard size carto and I did not mean to say the whole carto fits inside, just a large portion of it does. It comes with sleeves to fit smaller diameter items as well. You can plainly see it does not deform the carto at all, this was the first one I did and I am sure with a little more use I can get an even cleaner punch, as well as multiple ones without pinching the tube.

I've seen these at the gunsmith's place in town. Probably bug him for one of those Friday.
I think these are a plumbing type application, similar to the saddle valve. My saddle valve can make the same dentless small hole, I just have to keep it sharp.
Actually they are and you can get them on Amazon for under $6.00 exact same brand. Oh well, my discovery is your gain I guess!
