Not to say it will happen this way but if you look at the legal precedence the only thing that could potentially be taxed according to laws already in place is the nicotine liquid. They have tried and will continue to try to tax everything else associated with electronic cigarettes but since there is no legal basis for taxing batteries and flavorings and the PG and VG bases other than with a sales tax any attempts at taxes similar to tobacco taxes would be unfounded and easily rebuked because this taxation would affect larger industries than just the vaping industry, like the baking, farming, electronics and computer, and perfume industries and they are large enough to bring out big fancy lawyers that will say, "Enough of this nonsense."
But personally after the stripping of all our rights back in 2002 who knows what kind of mess they'll pull and make legal no matter how illegal their actions to do so actually are. So in the event of this occurrence I am ready for the worst and will even plant my tobacco seeds and wring my own nicotine from the leaves with my bare hands if I have to. Viva La Vape!

Your in the USA! We dont ban things, we TAX them.
Now, you have to consider where the number lie.
They wont tax any batteries. So no need to worry about those. Govt has no clue what an atty or cartomizer is, and they are small enough to to ship in so many different ways. Also, there is no way for a dog to sniff them out if they dont have chemicals in them.
As for PV's- so many can make their own, and have local meets, no need to worry about these. I can get any flavoring I want, including tobacco flavors, just by ordering it as a food item. No worry here either.
That only leaves nicotine. If I HAVE to I will grow tobacco. THATS not illegal. Just need to get some seeds, and thats easy too. LEarning to extract might be a challenge. But I do have nicotine in the freezer. I'll get more of it too. Not because it IS going to be taxed, but because that just makes sense to me. I know where it is, it wont get lost or shoved around in a drawer, and the kids arent allowed in the fridge, and cant reach the freezer. And I DIY....

LiI batteries only last about 2 years in storage (less if used).
It's widely considered that nic juice only lasts about two years before it begins to degrade (can be much shorter depending on temp/light during storage, but most pharmacists/chemists won't use it after more than two years no matter how it's stored).
So in the long run, whether it's a ban or outrageous taxation, 510s, 808s, and other integral batteries will have to be replaced by units with removable standard-sized batteries, and you're going to have to live somewhere it's legal to grow your own tobacco (it isn't in all states) and learn to extract nic.
Everything else is so general and used for so many different things it can't really be touched by the givernment.

Seriously, though...I , too, expect taxes to get tacked on. I also eventually see Big Tobacco getting into the act. It's money, honey.... I haven't stockpiled, though. I'm more afraid any eliquid would go bad.
If and when they try to tax components and e-liquid there is going to be so much confusion on what to tax it will take years of study to figure it out. Logically the only easily taxable item would be the raw nicotine.

If you actually read the bill, it's only gonna tax carts/ cartos that are prefilled with NICOTINE juice in them.

Hey, the fear of bans and super high taxes is a good reason to think about cutting down on your nic level since nicotine is the likely target for taxes and bans.
I successfully tapered my nic level down to zero over the last year and a half so now there's nothing I use that's likely to be regulated.

Actually, I put nothing beyond the earth and the universe (pun). Our 5,000 yr human history is not even a particle of vapor compared to geological and astronomical age. Just because something hasn't happened for a few hundred/thousand years doesn't mean it won't happen tomorrow. Yes, we have to go on with our lives, but I kind of think anything can happen at any moment. Permanence is...relative. YMMV of course.
Now, my whole tin suit comes out!
