Why would you stockpile just one flavour? If I were preparing my doomsday bunker I'd also be stocking up on plenty of FlavourArt, Perfumer's Apprentice, Faerie's Finest, Capella, LorAnn's, and whatever else I could so that I could ensure that whatever flavour I wanted to make, I'd have the ingredients to do it.

I mean, unless a zombie managed to bust in and gnaw on my head. Then I'm not sure I could make brains flavour. Although FA's cooked ham might do in a pinch if I could make do with a rotting flesh essence.

You are either independently wealthy or you sell ecig juice.

I actually have the zombie attack all planned. It started when I read The Cell and I have it all mapped out. My husband is on his own if it happens because he didn't take any of my planning seriously. Maybe I'll take my neighbor with me and put her in charge of vaping supplies.

Not really. I could eliminate a lot of flavours right off the bat either because you have to be a masochist to vape them (any meat or most savory flavours), because I just don't like them, or because one brand makes a better Flavour-X than the others. I'd get larger bottles of the stuff I really like and smaller bottles of mixing flavours. A few hundred bucks ought to get me all the flavourings I'd need for a few years, and a half liter of nicotine liquid would last me even longer. (I don't vape strong stuff anymore.)

This is a good idea to have one other person in there with you. Besides halving the chance you'll forget something, it'll double your chances of fending them off if they break in. Well, double the amount of time you'll have before they overwhelm you anyway.

Here is what might happen:

1) You love chocolate-bananna-blackberry. Vaping 18 mg is working for you. You believe one of these scare threads and stockpile a whole bunch of it.

2) You think that you might want quit altogether so to prepare for that event, you stockpile 0 mg nic in chocolate-bananna-blackberry.

3) Months later, the constant urge to smoke returns, so you go to 24 or even 36 mg.

4) You realize how much you miss the taste of tobacco and that vaping chocolate-bananna-blackberry is just not working.

5) You wake up to the fact that buying juice will be more expensive than you thought it would be.

6) You end up with $300 worth of chocolate-bananna-blackberry in your fridge while you continue to vape 36 mg Dekang Camel.

Unless you know EXACTLY what you will be vaping in six months, which most of us don't, stockpiling is an expensive and dumb idea.

HTH,
Dave

If the unflavored I stock goes up in price and I save money, stockpiling is an inexpensive and smart idea.

Well, I dont do it for any other reason than "what if". And "if" I'm wrong, I still got stuff to sell, when those who didnt think "what if" run out. I keep a lot of my "so-so" trial flavors, a few(bottles) of DIY flavors, gallons of PG/VG(cause thats what TSC sells, not because I stockpile), and every bottle of nic I've either won, traded for, or picked at at a super low price. I've been making the same flavor in different strengths for ages, with an occasional foray into another flavor just for variety. I may not always like the same flavor, but I do stick to the same category(fruits).
A chemist friend of mine once explained expiration dates of stuff to me. Some are just to appease the government(water, aspirin...) and some do change chemically based on ingredient breakdown and half lives and such.
As long as what you store is basically kept in a cool, dry and temperature regulated area(like a freezer), shelf life can be essentially ignored(per her). Not sure where I draw the line. But I dont see Nicotine turning into cyanide or plutonium if it gets old. It might taste stale, but I remember smoking cigs when I was desperate and found some really old packs in last years coat pockets and such....
I only intend to be stockpiling the nic. Thats the only thing I see getting socked by taxes or getting regulated like the phedrine drugs... I'm just cheap that way though....
Zombies huh? I think its more likely to be lepers...

I'm an avid shooter. Have been since I was a kid, and this sort of thing comes up in the gun world all the time. Every time a liberal politician is elected, people stock up, thinking that soon they won't be able to get the things they enjoy.

So for those who don't know where to begin, let me tell you, from a guy who is an old hand at stockpiling.

You have to look at the items that will wear out, run out or break. I'm not talking about mods or switches, electrical switches, batteries, wire, chargers, solder and battery boxes will always be available and you can build a mod out of a radio shack battery box for a few bucks. 10 or 12 spare 510 connectors should set you up for a good long while if the sale of them becomes completely illegal.

Atomizers and cartomizers are the biggest wear part. Luckily, they're cheap. If you're worried, but a few extra every time you order and put them in a box somewhere out of the way, for a rainy day. That's not a bad practice anyway. If you lose your job or get too sick to work, its nice to know you don't have to worry about spending the money on habits. If you buy in bulk from the Chinese suppliers, you can get them really cheap. Another option is to get set up with one of the rebuildable atomizers and learn to roll your own.

Liquid Nicotine is the other weak spot. It really has no other use, so could be easily targeted by bans or high taxes. The good news is that its also relatively inexpensive, and if you watch some of the suppliers, they have 50% off sales all the time. Keep it in a cool dark place and it should last a few years. Flavoring, PG and VG won't be hard to come by, they're used for other things so will always be available.

The mantra of the prepper has always been 'Buy it cheap, stack it deep.' If you're worried about a ban, its a good way to think. Personally, I'm not worried. I've got probably a year's worth of atomizers and six months of juice. But they won't be banned. Taxed, certainly, but not banned.

This. Kanthal/Nichrome wire is readily available, as is glass fiber wicking and/or SS mesh. Once you have a rebuildable you're pretty much set forever. Bulli, iAtty, At-O-Mizer (if you're into dripping), or the forthcoming Mark-T. They're not cheap at the outset, but new wicks and wire are pennies a coil.

Yes, and soon the rave could be ecig juice with "pure ingredients" (e.g. Totally Wicked) and your "impure" juice would be worthless.

Very difficult to predict the future. So extremely difficult to justify stockpiling.

Could you let me use your crystal ball?. I could make a million in the stock market.

By the way, here are the final events that could happen to you when stockpiling:

7) Upset with yourself about wasting money stockpiling juice you will never vape, you try to warn inexperienced beginners so they won't make the same mistake.

8) Being 100% confident in their plan to stockpile, and convinced that the FDA is out to get them, the beginners just get angry.

9) You wonder whether you are as stubborn as the beginners.

If the unflavored I stocked explodes tomorrow no big deal; it's not that expensive.
I'm simply gambling price will go up.
Won't make or break me either way.
