My MVP has been absolutely perfect - until now, that is. Not sure if this is a common problem or if there is a fix...

I'm using an iClear X.1 that has 2.1 ohm coils. I normally use variable wattage and set it at 8.0. I've burned through two coils today.

I've noticed when I check my resistance, initially it reads 2.1 ohms. The resistance reading drops from time to time, getting as low as 1.6 ohms within the first twenty hits on the vape.

Supposing it is set on vw, 8.0 should still be good but for some reason it is just burning the coil up. I suspect there's something wrong internally. Is there any way to troubleshoot & fix or reset or recalibrate or do I need to get a new one?

That's weird. Normally if a coil is going bad, the resistance goes up (normally, but I suppose it could go the other way.) Maybe the 510 pin is loose or only making an intermittent or otherwise "not solid" connection?

There might be built-up gunk/juice around the connector, this is how I clean it: get a bottle of rubbing alcohol from the grocery store. Turn off the MVP (push the fire button three times in a row until the light blinks.) Holding the MVP over a sink, squirt some rubbing alcohol into the connector and then tip it out into the sink. Don't let it sit in the connector too long, since you don't want it seeping down into the wiring. After you do this, wipe out the connector with a Q-tip or cotton ball or something, and then let the MVP sit for a while so any leftover alcohol can evaporate. You can also soak a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol and clean out the connector with it. As long as you're not letting alcohol sit in the connector for a long time, it shouldn't get into the electronics. Of course, this is at your own risk but I've done it a few times after some juice incidents and it was fine (just don't come after me if you decide to give it a shot and end up breaking something ;) .)

It could be the internal wiring, but that's something you'd have to take up with Innokin or the seller. Most of this stuff is hard to get warrantied though because of where it comes from, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Worth shooting them an email though, you never know.

One last thing (that I can think of anyway): have you tried using a different tank? Maybe there's something wrong with that iClear itself, like something is crooked and causing a short (and which would cause the resistance to drop.)

Mebbe the mvp3 will be spring loaded. Seems like it's the new thing. The Tesla is spring loaded.

The threading and connector is the only real complaint I have about my MVP. My threads are fine so far, but every time I screw on a tank I can "feel" how soft that brass is. I hope they use a harder metal for the connector on the next version; stainless would be great, but even just a harder brass (like bell or marine brass) would be an improvement. Actually if I could find a stainless connector I'd consider replacing the one on my MVP myself just to hedge my bets; I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron.

My $3 china ego has a spring loaded pin. Been around forever. Innokin could make it float a little better so when it gets over driven it will bounce back better but you can tell it moves around by the way we can lift them up and even out of the 510 well. So that is a spring like connector in there. It just needs to float back up better.

What I have concluded for some time is that the majority of the problem is the fact that the ego threads are to long. It allows the device to go to low and it over drives the pin that now stays there. When you put a different topper on that isn't as deep or even just catch the threads a little differently so it doesn't go down quite as far it wont make contact. These deep ego threads are also why my Kanger T2's (and some others) can't breathe on the MVP and VV, the threads are so deep that they block the air holes.

I use primarily ego threaded devices and I have learned to just use an ego/510 all the time so I don't know about the depth of the 510 threads but my suspicion is they are just that extra little bit to long as well.

The other thought I had later was the voltage drop we might get from a cheap spring. I have a cheap mod that I had to replace the battery spring with a coiled piece of copper wire after watching a review that showed the drop from the spring.

Try turning the device off, turning it back on and then plug it in to the charger. Try the fire button and then the try off and on again. Then leave it on the charger til fully charged. (Green lite goes out) I had a charging glitch and cycling it through finally got it back on track. Seems to happen when it detects an overload or short.

But it sounds more like bad coils to me. On the other hand if your juice is really thick and gunking up the coils that may give you the same problem.

I cleaned the connector (instructions and disclaimer noted). Still doing the same thing.

It could well be the tank. I switched tanks and will see if the same thing happens.

I read this on the "ask the veterans " forum and i thought i would share it with everybody , now thats a statement since it's comparing a device that cost on average FIVE times the price .

:thumb::headbang::thumbs::party:

It has been said more than once, even by some of the Pavaranatzi. There is a person over on the VV thread right now that says he leaves his 5 Pthingy's at home for his evening walk in favor of the VV.

To be fair, some people just want their vape stuff made in 'merica.

I just want juice that is made that way. My devices, cheap and good quality is my preference, though I did just drop the most I've ever spent on a device when I bought a reo. (Money well spent imho).

EHPro Kayfun Lite Plus V2 (seriously, they need to work on the naming thing ) hath arrived! It's currently taking a bath in a metric ton of dish soap with a splash of water for good measure. Actually seemed pretty clean, but there was a faint odor of machine oil, so I figured I may as well just get it out of the way. Stupid USPS didn't get my roll of 30 gauge Kanthal delivered yet (and they keep doing that annoying thing where they change it from "Out for Delivery" to "At Sorting Facility" to "Leaving Sorting Facility" back to "Arrived at Post Office". Thumbs up organizational skills, USPS!) I've got some 28 gauge though, and the EHPro came with a little bit too, so that'll hold me until the postal service figures out what they're doing.

I'm very pleased with the KFL though! The machining is excellent, and the juice channels are well-cut; only faint machining marks on the deck, everything else is very nice. The threads aren't "buttery", but they're far from crunchy so I'm happy. I can't speak to vape quality yet, but I'm impressed with the build quality and it's much nicer than I thought it would be. The packaging was great too. For $29 shipped it was a steal!

Anyways, I'm off to nappy-land for a while but I can't wait to vape it! A brand new vape shop just opened in my neighborhood too and their juices are really good in my PT2, so I can't wait to try them in my Kayfun. I'll report back!

I used to have that problem with the T2's and other toppers , your right the threads go way too deep and you blow out your eye sockets trying to get a drag .

Best solution so far and i just put one on my second MVP since it has worked absolutely fabulous with my first one is the rubber o ring(size 60) .

So easy yet incredibly effective , when you use a topper that pushes down your pin the o ring nudges it up to where it was before you installed the new topper , it doesn't effect or make it more difficult to screw anything down , if you want to use an adapter by all means do but i have yet to have any issue whatsoever with anything since i slipped it over the contact pin lip .

Actually it has worked so well that i think Innokin would be wise to have one pre installed with every new MVP thats shipped, you would never hear another peep about a problem with the pin again.

Actually i read quite often that many grab their MVP's even though they have much more expensive mods .

How do you like it , many seem to say it's the ultimate vape , i think it's still overpriced for what it is but many say it's worth it.

Funny you mention that because i was in this brand new vape shop today after seeing a huge ad in a local paper , unfortunately they were trying to tell me everything was authentic but no dice , very cheap gear and accessories that had fraud written all over it.

I wonder how common this is

YAY I am now considered a MVP 2 owner!! Sooooo happy with my purchase.

We(my wife and I) bought our MVP 2 from Vape 101 on Friday and got it in the mail yesterday afternoon.

What's it supposed to be? Rattle snake after a 18 wheeler?:)
Found under itaste MVP at Ebay, some nice looking skins for 3.99 and second skin for 2.99, seller superk8mom. Looking at getting a digital blue-purple textured skin and maybe a dark red carbon. Thats less than $7 for a pair delivered for nice looking protection its really a no brainer.
I went looking for this seller. There is a typo in your reply, it's actually supers8mom but no matter. I bought this skin from the same seller. BlackSnakeskinMVP.jpg

Just wanted to update everyone on my mvp situation. Last week I posted about my mvp not firing at the voltage/wattage is was supposed to fire at. Didn't have a voltage meter to verify but I knew something was off when I put my tanks on my ego sticks and everything worked flawlessly. Contacted the seller and my mvp was still under the 3 month warranty. Just got confirmation from the vendor that he shipped my new mvp replacement to me this afternoon. If anyone has any issues whatsoever within 3 months of purchasing your mvp, don't hesitate to send it back. It will be replaced. Only thing I had to pay for was $10 for shipping both ways.

I order most stuff from 101, fastest shipping i ever experienced , excellent price at $39.99 but that price was broken when Vapor Joe's had a vendor coming in at $34.95 with free first class shipping , thats getting real close to a "must purchase another MVP " price for me.

Yea but the sale is over so maybe next time.

pardon the typos, on my phone :)
