My MVP has been absolutely perfect - until now, that is. Not sure if this is a common problem or if there is a fix...
I'm using an iClear X.1 that has 2.1 ohm coils. I normally use variable wattage and set it at 8.0. I've burned through two coils today.
I've noticed when I check my resistance, initially it reads 2.1 ohms. The resistance reading drops from time to time, getting as low as 1.6 ohms within the first twenty hits on the vape.
Supposing it is set on vw, 8.0 should still be good but for some reason it is just burning the coil up. I suspect there's something wrong internally. Is there any way to troubleshoot & fix or reset or recalibrate or do I need to get a new one?
That's weird. Normally if a coil is going bad, the resistance goes up (normally, but I suppose it could go the other way.) Maybe the 510 pin is loose or only making an intermittent or otherwise "not solid" connection?
There might be built-up gunk/juice around the connector, this is how I clean it: get a bottle of rubbing alcohol from the grocery store. Turn off the MVP (push the fire button three times in a row until the light blinks.) Holding the MVP over a sink, squirt some rubbing alcohol into the connector and then tip it out into the sink. Don't let it sit in the connector too long, since you don't want it seeping down into the wiring. After you do this, wipe out the connector with a Q-tip or cotton ball or something, and then let the MVP sit for a while so any leftover alcohol can evaporate. You can also soak a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol and clean out the connector with it. As long as you're not letting alcohol sit in the connector for a long time, it shouldn't get into the electronics. Of course, this is at your own risk but I've done it a few times after some juice incidents and it was fine (just don't come after me if you decide to give it a shot and end up breaking something
It could be the internal wiring, but that's something you'd have to take up with Innokin or the seller. Most of this stuff is hard to get warrantied though because of where it comes from, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Worth shooting them an email though, you never know.
One last thing (that I can think of anyway): have you tried using a different tank? Maybe there's something wrong with that iClear itself, like something is crooked and causing a short (and which would cause the resistance to drop.)
Mebbe the mvp3 will be spring loaded. Seems like it's the new thing. The Tesla is spring loaded.
The threading and connector is the only real complaint I have about my MVP. My threads are fine so far, but every time I screw on a tank I can "feel" how soft that brass is. I hope they use a harder metal for the connector on the next version; stainless would be great, but even just a harder brass (like bell or marine brass) would be an improvement. Actually if I could find a stainless connector I'd consider replacing the one on my MVP myself just to hedge my bets; I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron.

) hath arrived! It's currently taking a bath in a metric ton of dish soap with a splash of water for good measure. Actually seemed pretty clean, but there was a faint odor of machine oil, so I figured I may as well just get it out of the way. Stupid USPS didn't get my roll of 30 gauge Kanthal delivered yet (and they keep doing that annoying thing where they change it from "Out for Delivery" to "At Sorting Facility" to "Leaving Sorting Facility" back to "Arrived at Post Office". Thumbs up organizational skills, USPS!) I've got some 28 gauge though, and the EHPro came with a little bit too, so that'll hold me until the postal service figures out what they're doing.
