Thought you would like to know, tmcase, that I bought from MyFreedomSmokes today. I was asked for name exactly as it is on DL, address and age. Purchase went through.

I was a bit hesitant as I only use gift cards that are registered with address only. :p

Thank you so much for what you're doing here. A great help to me since I don't like buying on line in the first place.
Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad the list is helping you. :thumb:

I just had a bad experience with Lightning Vapes. I've ordered from them many times, I placed my order this morning, site reads the only need your birthday. I put in all information. After I checked out and was charged I received this email
Regretfully, our system was unable to automatically verify your age. In order for us to process your order, please reply to this e-mail and attach a clear copy or photograph (front-side) of a valid government issued license or photo identification card. We are extremely sorry for this inconvenience, normal delivery of your order will promptly resume as soon as we receive your response. Unfortunately, if we do not hear from you within 72 hours, regulations prohibit us from shipping your order, and you will be issued a full refund.
I just wish I would have been told this before I was billed. I didn't expect this with Verastad.

Wow, so Vera isn't much better than BC. I think I'm going to order China Only. WTH, it's all made there anyway. And most everything in my house, lol.

I didn't mean to imply it was as bad. My only complaint was, I wish I had been told they weren't able to verify me before they deducted the funds from my account. I purchased from another vendor that told me there was a problem before check out, I was able to resolve the issue without sending a photo ID. In this case I felt I had little choice.

I strongly disagree. Veratad only asks for personal ID if they can't find a match and they don't store any info. Bluecheck wants a pee test (exaggerating) and stores and shares your personal info. You can shop where ever you want but my country will always come first. :)

I've added Zephyr Vapors to the list. They use Verify.Ninja. There is a Blurb about Ninja on their home page.
    The blurb reads
"VerifyNinja is our Secure and Very Trusted Verification Processor.

This site is 100% Secured with the Highest Level of SSL Security
Verify Ninja does NOT collect any part of your Social Security Number
Verify Ninja does NOT require you to set up yet another account
Verify Ninja does NOT store your ID images or personally identifiable information once it is complete
This Verification Process is EASY, SAFE, AND VERY SECURE!!!
Best of all, we pay for the verification fees."

    Why is verify.ninja "very trusted"?
They seem to be newly set up specifically for ecig businesses. I have not been able to find a privacy policy for them nor their parent company. Maybe on their mobile site it isn't evident. Anybody?

I ran ninja through SSL Labs and they were graded a "B". Other than that I haven't had time to look any further. Maybe you will find info there that I don't understand. All I understand is the grade. The rest is Greek.

The only thing I was able to find out was they are geared for online sales from cell phones using tokens. They also mention using cell phone or email for your photo id. Nothing about a parent company, just that they are holding a webinar to answer questions for vendors. Seems like another new start up since the deeming took effect.

Latest order from Vapewild, they are using Veratad now. Process was simply entering birthdate. If they cannot automatically verify you have to send photo of license. They tell you to black out personal details. I think the Veratad system is very good.

Regardless of any verification service's policies, what gives them the authority to verify? The data upstream with which they use to verify is given to them...why? Because they have Internet businesses with the words Vera, Check, or Ninja in the name?

Your information is most likely already contained in a huge database somewhere on the Internet. Companies use this information to verify who you are online. Generally, you have to "opt out" when companies collect your information and getting it removed after it's out there is almost impossible.

There's no "authorization" required to set this kind of stuff up. As long as you have the bucks to get started and pay for accessing these databases, anyone can set up a verification service.

Right, that's the way I view it. Our information is bought, sold and stolen at a whim and it's all already out there whether we provide it directly or something higher up the food chain provides it. If I want true anonymity I can do that but it certainly doesn't make Internet vape shopping convenient.

Unfortunately, the new rules from the FDA require e-cigarette businesses to verify the age of any purchaser. Granted, online verification isn't foolproof. But companies have to make an honest effort to verify the age of a purchaser or face the wrath of the government.
