The Heart/Love button kinda works that way...sending sympathy, love...no ?
I think the heart can be sending good thoughts, but maybe I'm used to another board where the love button means all kinds of positive thoughts, and is acceptable when someone is talking about a significant loss as well as celebrating good news. I get that some people don't like putting the word "love" with the heart because I'm more careful using it in regular conversation myself. The hard part is figuring out where to draw the line for a shorthand/emoji symbol to express the feelings of caring about someone and the news they have shared. A (((hugs))) button might work, but I don't know if the software allows for that.

Oh... the rainbow is neutral... (as well as the x for disagree)

I won't give anyone a rainbow then..I don't want to give bad ratings to people.
I don't consider neutral a bad rating. How boring would we be if we all agreed. Most interesting thing about vaping for me is the subjectivity factor. That's why I joined ECF. Fascinates me.

Your probably right on the rating... but I was always taught if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything. Of course I added onto that, "unless you just have to disagree" but then I say in words to someone's face if I disagree and why I disagree...

A button is kind of snarky and backstabbing.

Maybe I'll get used to it.. but until then I probably won't be doing much neutrality, even in the form of rainbows. It might make someone feel bad to look at their page and see a thousand neutrals someday..

This makes me... well... just plain weird.. Hahaha.. I know.

I don't see the disagree as snarky unless a snarky comment is posted afterwards. Prefer to look at it as an opening for discussion. Sadly discussion seems to be a dying art. :(

I definitely agree with you about discussion being a dying art. :)
