Hmmm - no but I did run across someone crushing his 'little blue pills' and dissolving them in his e-juice. He thought he noticed his batteries holding a charger longer, but no so much himself.

Yepper - I can appreciate what you're saying. I too was in the computer field for 45 years. I enjoyed using fountain pens. It was a break from all the techie stuff. I often laughed at myself when making the comparison to a monk in his cubicle in the monastery illustrating the pages of some holy book way back when we still did flow charts by hand.

batteries held the charge a little longer ... LOL I love it!

And oh gosh, I remember times back in the day when I made presentation charts, meticulously, beautifully, done by hand, because they could NOT have been done on a typewriter, and there was no graphics software in those days that could have produced them -- they were works of ART I tell you.... This was roughly in the early 80s. The bosses started saying that if it isn't typed, it isn't real, pretty much.

That's when my little heart started to break...

Guys, got bad news today. My brother in law went to check on his mother, my mother in law, and found her on the bathroom floor. She was alive thank God but was incoherent. He called 911 and she is now in the hospital. We don't think she will be able to live alone again so wife and I are leaving for her house in Florida on Friday.
I post this to mostly to ask for ypur prayers. She lives in Deerfield Beach and you know what kind of crap the hospitals pull down there with medicare and such. Might be asking for some advice as I dont know much about that being only 56. Thanks in advance

I have been through similar situations with both of my parents, sad to say, and my prayers are with you and your family. This is hard stuff to deal with, and getting good care is a nightmare. You need to designate someone in the family to be The advocate to keep an eye on your mother-in-law and whatever care provider is selected. I am still living with my mom as her care provider, and did the same for my dad for 5 yrs before he needed more care than I could give while working fulltime, then 2 yrs after that while he was in residential care. That was in California. Necessary to keep an eye on the care providers, truly.

Isn't it great to find a welcoming place for us Baby Boomers; love my new rocker.
And it even has a Standard Poodle painted on the headrest. THANKS!
( Can you tell I'm a Standard Poodle owner/lover?, LOL),,

OMG OMG! DO NOT let us get started talking about Standard Poodles! OH GOD! I have been training horses, dogs for most of my adult life. Have trained dogs for Search & Rescue, Therapy, and now Service. I love love LOVE my Rottweilers in the past, they were great ambassadors for "scary" dogs being sweet and wonderful, and pretty decent S&R dogs though they lack endurance, and my Great Pyrenees was the most fabulous Therapy dog ever (because he was so huge and soft and lovable) ... and now I have a Newfoundland mix (he is the dog I'm with in my sig photo - my old dog, sweet as peach pie, and a great retriever, but now almost 10yrs old and 95 lbs, he is a senior citizen -- there never was a more beautiful dog running across the fields after a pitched tennis ball that you've ever seen in your entire life!)... and my YOUNG STANDARD POODLE.

This is my first Standard Poodle. They are ... WEIRD!!! Not like other dogs. Not like working breeds, who love to just make their people happy. Poodles are ... different. I rescued this one from a puppy mill when she was only 7 wks old and getting injured by bad care. She has been traveling with me since then. She is a social genius with other animals ... well, other dogs. She has recently decided that she wants to chase the cats that she grew up with. I'm not worried, they could blind her with a claw-swipe if they decided to; they must know she's not seriously threatening. But I am TRYING to train her as a SERVICE DOG for my elderly disabled mother. Training a poodle -- even though they are bred as water retrievers ... well, I could talk a book-full. She's 2 yrs old now, beautiful, has become a "brindle" color, which is pretty odd for a Standard. My groomer for her, who is a professional for poodles. has not seen another one like her.

I know I know, pictures .. or it didn't happen.

Oh my, wish I had a buck fer every overhead projector transparency (flow charts, circuitry, organizational, etc.) I've drawn up!!!

TRULY!

BTW, speakin' of dogs, I still miss my Golden Lab (GR & YL), Ginger, even after six years! She 'spoke' with her eyes and was beyond psychic...

Well, we came to an agreement on which house today (he came around to my way of thinking;)) and we're going to make an offer on Saturday since tomorrow we have to switch motels. The house is empty and we'll be paying cash so I'm hoping that we can get in quickly.

Our big dog is still at the "pet resort", and while they say that he is doing well I miss him. Again, rottweillers have that bad reputation, but despite having been an "only dog" he is playing well with the day students. That hasn't made it possible to find an apartment that would allow him. If we can get into the house all we'll have to do is convince him to stay on a leash until the ground thaws and we can get a fence up. He's used to having five acres to run in.

CONGRATS on coming to an "understanding!"

Ahh, your lovely Rottweiler. I am so sad that they have gotten a bad rep, my Rotties have been the sweetest dogs ever. As we all know, it's some humans that have created the situation. When I lived in Republic of Panama, I worked with a crew of fellow dog owners/handlers who travelled around the country trying to advocate for improved treatment and owner-responsibility of dogs. (Panama is not real great in its treatment of and respect for pets, just sayin'). I answered hundreds of questions about why did I not make my dog "mean" so that he could "protect" me. <sigh>

FYI, I'm using Win7. I miss my XP...

Oh, if ya have do time later on, which FF add-ons did ya use to elim da social snooping crap (i.e. Google, etc.)

Again, thanx!

Iffy, the FF anti-snoop add-ons I currently have installed are:

Adblock Plus
Google Privacy
NO Google Analytics
NO Twitter
NoScript is a good if'n ya feel like babysitting it. It stops a lot of stuff, but ya constantly get popup reminders/questions like "noscript blocked xyz, do you want to run it anyway?" (paraphrased)

And there are more, just haven't had time to track 'em down and research 'em yet.

And, unfortunately, nothing will totally eliminate everything. It's a cat and mouse game. Everytime "we" figure out how to block something, "they" figure out how to push their crap on us some other way.

BTW, for the Chrome users... I don't use it (or Internet Explorer either for that matter), so don't know if it uses the Hosts file or not.

I would guess probably not?

Chrome is a Google product.

Googles' business model is to find out everything they can about "us", so they can market or otherwise use the information. (Class, can you say "Big Brother"?)

Man o man, I wish we lived closer together. If I could get my hands on your laptop, I'd make that bugger hum like a Singer... gratis too! :)

Ciao y'all...

Umanbean. It is way easier to just install Linux. Anything Microsoft based sucks and macs are expensive. Lol

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You got that right brudda... on all three counts!

I wish the majority of my customer base used Linux, then I would too.

I've played with Mint, Puppy, several flavors of Ubuntu, and some distros I can't remember. I have one laptop right now that will dual boot to Ubuntu 10.x (I think) or Windows 8 beta (sux).

eta: Oh yeah, I also have a Linux bootable CD and bootable USB drive with Ophcrack installed on both, to break Windows logon passwords when someone has forgotton their pwd., or bought a pawnshop computer where nobody knows the pwd.
