On Shaving :: I absolutely hated the Gillette Double Edge "Safety Razor" .. a device designed by Torquemada himself, IMO .. the clouds opened when the Techmatic came out .. and, I don't recall there being any razors back then dedicated to the ladies ..

They did have the Lady Gillette safety razor. They had pastel colored handles and some had little starburst engravings that matched the color of the handle. The handle was a bit longer than the mens.

Nope, we used double edges, too! And we stole them from our Daddies!

Good morning everyone. Hope we all have a great day. Rainey and cold here but, I'm not going to let that bother me! :)
We could wear dungarees (didn't know them by jeans back then) to H.S. but I couldn't get out of the house wearing them. My Mom was adamant that only juvenile delinquents wore them to school.
I went to high school at Seabreeze Sr. High in Daytona Beach. It literally was across the street (A1A) from the beach. Out the back gate to McDonalds then cross the street to the beach. We wore shorts, t-shirts and flip flops 90% of he time. Loved it. Only rules were no bathing suits and the girls couldn't show any belly buttons and such. Shorts had to be ok because most of us only had "Sunday Go To Meeting" long pants and maybe a couple of pairs of jeans for Saturday night.
I have an account with them so I get updates as soon as something is sent without even putting in for it. My sleeve got here today from Florida but these pills something has definately happened to. My wife was able to pick up a 7 day supply for free today but either they have gotten stolen or something. They are worth over on the street but they haven't turned up anywhere since they left Missouri last Tuesday. I am going to call the number at the PO tomorrow and Express Scripts and talk to a supervisor instead of one of the flunkies there.
I'm not thrilled with Express Scripts and the transition to mail order from CVS wasn't the smoothest thing I ever did. Some of the generics they put me on don't work as well as what I was getting from CVS. CVS was generics too but, seemed to be better quality.

Never shaved until Navy boot camp in 1975 (I was 17). They issued a Gillette Track Two and I have been shaving with the multiblade Gillette razors ever since. I like em and I get a plenty close shave. :)

Can you believe there's a big cult following of men who prefer the old double edge razors to the modern multi-blade razors. Some of these masochists prefer vintage double edge razors, others prefer high end modern versions. There's even a number of forums dedicated to double edge shaving. A couple years ago for the heck of it I got out one of my vintage Gillette's, tried it and ...
Yikes ... no way ... what was I thinking.

hehehe Jup, decided a long time ago, after much thought, that 3 is the absolute perfect age. Out of diapers, no chores yet, big enough to get into stuff, cute enough to not get in trouble for it. No school, play all day, and a sweet grin while holding up the other paw will still get you a cookie for each hand! So I've been 3 for a couple decades!

now im done until the next new toy catches my eye
lol More nic, and a couple more BF derringer clones, and I'm set. I don't really have much shinyitis. I'm so happy with my REOs, don't even wanna try other stuff.

You can get sms, or email notifications. Just go to the USPS website, enter your tracking #, & the package info will come up. Look to the right of that block of info & you'll see the notification options.
kewl thanks. Dave, thanks to you also.

As a Fellow Alumni of Good Old Catholic School, I suppose that must be why I thought they were all the rage .. ;)
They regained some popularity in the 70's, like others said, the cheerleaders wore em, and cheerleader wannabes would wear em so folks would think they were a cheerleader. At least in my area.

even ironed my underwear.
no starch I hope. :pervy: I don't iron much either, I would for my son if something needed it, until his freshman year in HS. I started out ironing his Class B's for JROTC, but somewhat quickly passed that over to him.

They don't know why, but she has severe pancreatitis with sepsis, gall bladder infection, lung infection and is still on the ventilator.
wow, that's a lot to deal with. Infection in the blood and MODS or multi organ dysfunction syndrome. She's got a lot of prayer coverage as do you all, hopefully they can find the right treatments quickly.

I am going to call the number at the PO tomorrow and Express Scripts and talk to a supervisor instead of one of the flunkies there.
Good! Hope they can find and resolved it and get it on it's way to you

Yesterday my mom called them saying she had to cancel the service because we could no longer afford it due to her illness (stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer. Already metastatic). They cut the price in half for 12 months, with no reduction in speeds.
Damned nice of them, since I still need the internet to finish my last semester of ECPI, as well as job hunt.
Oh ((((((Trik))))) I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. Prayers for y'all, and many good wishes with you finishing school and finding a great job!

Jup, was 13 when I first started shaving legs, and lived with a family that were good friends that year. Had to switch out blades, and use the dad's razor. I do recall that shortly thereafter we found these, my first "girl's) shaver. Amazon.com: Flicker Classic Women's Shaver By Personna, 5 Blades: Beauty but they were pink then. This was 76 or so. You rotated the middle thing to make it switch to new blades.

So my father in law took us to benihana tonight, made my day

Oh kewl.......I've always wanted to go to a Japanese restaurant, where they cook it in front of ya and play with the food! How fun!!

And peeling a 4" strip off of your ankle. Ugh!
Yes'm! I quite clearly recall being in a clawfoot tub, ankle up around my ears, soapy fingers, cuz we didn't use shave cream, the razor slipped, and cut a huge circle outta my leg just above the ankle. Bled like a stuck pig!

Hope everyone has a great Thursday and a warm one...........it's 26 here, and that's insane for Texas in Feb!! Hope this week goes quick.......a week from now should be highs of 70's, low in 40's. That's still too brrrrrr for the low but it beats the snot outta 26!!

Thank you very much. I'm just happy that I'm not losing it like my father and sister are. My mom and I are both of the mind that "well, being upset about it won't help anything. Best to just carry on the best you can", meanwhile my father and sister are being a bit overbearing in trying to care for her. She really just wants to be left alone and not talk about it every ten minutes.

She's mainly upset that her stomach is messed up, and the Chemo is messing up her sense of taste and smell. A big deal for someone who is a bit of a gourmand.

I like a blend of old and new, i use an ultra modern vibrating multiblade razor with old fashion soap and brush. Not that it really matters, it takes me 3 days to get a 5o'clock shadow.

Prayers for all of you. I went through colon cancer with my dad many years ago. It's so hard to see someone you love in pain and suffering and you can't fix it, but I totally understand her not wanting to talk about it and deal with it all the time. I was like you, strong for my dad, but for 3 years after he died, I'd fall completely apart once or twice a year. He was the only stability I'd ever had in my life. He died when I was 25 and my son was 4.

it takes me 3 days to get a 5o'clock shadow.
Gotta love that Indian blood huh! ;)
