And now for something completely different. ;)
in the strange dream category...
I'm that type of person who dreams of flying, floating down from bridges, running at the speed of sound, being chased by large dinosaurs in the city, etc... I even have a normal dreamscape where my dreams are staged. A city comprised of features from every city I've known, suburbs, farms, a couple of mountains and a seashore.
I learned long ago how to take charge of my dreams and chase anything that was chasing me and generally having a great time turning cities into forests, farms into launch pads for space and what not.
Last night: didn't have to go to the bathroom before I went to bed, so just went to bed...
Was having a nice little dream walking through one of the suburbs in my dreamscape and enjoying the spring weather... had to pee. so I decided to wake up and go to the bathroom.
woke up and was in a really comfortable position. Just didn't want to move... something is not right... legs and arms just not working... Oh. I'm still dreaming. WAKE UP!!! cool. got up and sat on side of bed. Something still not right. Test time. turn on the bedside lamp. no light. AH... STILL dreaming. make a huge effort to wake up and... that's strange... my bedroom door is in the wrong place and the "darkness" doesn't have the right quality. a bit mushy. darn. still asleep and still have to pee.
thrash around a bit to wake up, and did it. 'Now the bathroom is just down that hall'... um, no. it's on the other side of the living room. DARNIT!!! WAKE UP!!!
ah... there we go. everything is in the right positions. FIANLLY. was able to go to the bathroom and get back to bed and back to sleep.
6 times I had to wake myself up. normally when that happens, it only takes 2 or 3. so...
I was dreaming that I was dreaming that I was dreaming that I was dreaming that I was dreaming that I was walking in my suburb.
That ever happen to any of you?

The picture is nice, just please don't post the poem, or if you do, put it in one of those "spoiler" tags so I can skip it. I can't read that thing without blubbering like a freaking BABY. Then my eyes get all puffy, and my stomach is upset for hours...
That's precisely why I just posted the pic. The poem chokes me up too hard.

Ken, have you seen the movie Inception? I won't go into details, but they go through levels of dream states to accomplish their mission. I need to watch it again because I didn't realize at first they were showing all levels at the same time. It jumped around and I started getting confused (not hard for me!) til I realized that. But an interesting movie.

Just stopping by to announce that I am still alive, if not kicking. After my summer in the nursing home it has taken me some time to get interested in much of anything again. As an extreme introvert it was an extra bad place for me, and I really needed to be alone for a while, physically and electronically. Still not feeling very sociable, but I'm working on it.

So nice that you stopped by! I was wondering how you were doing. I totally get the need to be alone for awhile, but don't get stuck there. Maybe just lurk a bit, I'm sure some topic will come along to spark some interest and that's a good thing.

Getting better, still a lot of pain, but im getting there.

Glad to hear you're improving. It's gonna take awhile, no getting around that, but it will get better.

Never to the extent you just described, but sometimes, especially if I really zonk out when napping, I have a hard time waking up. It's like you're awake and asleep at the same time. Very weird.

But are you sure you're really awake now?

I used to have a lot of dreams where I would re-live bad situations in my past, and wake myself up yelling, often in that uncomfortable way that Ken describes. Nowadays, it doesn't happen so often, probably a combination of hearing loss and having resolved the emotional impact of those bad events. Don't know how much of one or the other, since I live alone.

When I'm dreaming something unpleasant I can wake myself out of it. I have to get awake long enpugh to move around some or I'll go back to sleep & pick up the dream where I left off. Sometimes I start to wake out of a dream & know I'm dreaming but I choose to look around a little before I wake completely. At those times I can't stop the waking process but I can take control of what's left of the dream. Weird, I know.

Well, hells bells! I disappear for a couple of days, find the other porch went bye bye, and the New Back Porch up and running and I'm already 15 pages behind. Oh well, the story of my life.

All I can say at this point is Thank You to everybody here. I'm blessed to have found this slice of paradise on the World Wide Web.

And everyone thought I was crazy for switching to the STM with a ton of extra parts. All I use except for my Tugboat Dripper rarely. I am going to order a couple of spools of Ti from the UK in 24awg. All the Ti guys say it works so much better then 26 and easier to build with. I am going to put my SXM's away for later so will be all taken care of in the mod dept. Will use my VTC's till they quit. They seem to work real well not as well as the SXM's which I believe is the best TC mod there is but very very close and my one RX200 which if you are going somewhere is fantastic, 48 hours on a battery change. I am ready for the reaming almost. Still have to get VG PG from essentials depot. I got a laugh out of a guy that is using 24awg SS430 and he says it's boring because the coils last forever, he sometimes wraps a new coil out of boredom. Sort of like Kanthal. Might get one spool of that since I'm ordering from UK and you can get a 75' spool for about $3 shipping doesn't change. I have looked these VTC5's over and as far as I can tell with all the obvious things to tell a fake they are real trying one out and I'll see how many J's I get on it.

...hit the wrong dang button...

This actually has happened to me a few times, although not that many layers. Only two or three times of "waking up" and realizing I was still asleep. If I do realize I'm asleep and want to wake up, I try to yell in my dream - that does it every time.
